I remember hearing in one of the link building webinars that if you hold a patent then you could get a link from that somehow.

One of the SEOmoz webinars?

I haven't heard about this, but I'd imagine it would involve finding relevant authorities and databases that hold some interest in the patent and getting them to reference your site directly in association with it.

When conducting a link building strategy does it matter the country the link is from?

We are a UK business and if we have links mostly from US based blogs and websites does this penalise us. The links are from relevant websites and topics. Should we be focusing on .co.uk sites

Should I build internal links to my homepage?

Ive done a lot of internal linking before but its always been for other inner pages but now I need to do it for a websites homepage but this got me thinking if its even worth doing and should I be doing it at all? For the first question I was thinking that surely the homepage has more authority than any of my inner pages so how would internal links from inner pages help and for the second question Ive read a few posts like this Kissmetrics one here where it says you shouldnt do it. There are two types of links you should avoid using in your content: Homepage. Most sites have too many links to the homepage as it is. How to get rid of ezinearticles links etc?

I know the standard answer of email all the sites but, I dont like my chances of even getting any delisted..
Have around 260 links with about 60% of them junk.
Some links are from sig links on forums that I actually legitimately post to and from real comments I have made on the web over the years. Should all of these go? Was thinking of hiring a freelancer to do this or maybe going through an online tool if anyone has any suggestions? They are removing the articles, maybe its becoming a headache for them all as, Sorry, GoArticles.com is no longer accepting new article submissions or account signups. Link building with PDFs

I created a manual for a popular piece of equipment and placed it, as a PDF-file, on my website. The PDF contains a clickable link to the root domain of my website. Other websites have downloaded the PDF and put it on their own website, hosting it themselves. Since Google indexes PDFs, does the link in the PDF count as a regular 'link' from an external website, and does it have comparable value? Can't find any thoughts or studies about this anywhere.

Linking to sites that link to porn or casinos, my site getting penalized?

I have some link exchanges with some sites to get web traffic but when i ran the bad neighborhood link checker, i found that one site links to some casinos and another site has one link to a porn site. Is this getting me penalized? should i remove the links to these sites? Thanks, Ron
