Does TrafficEstimate.com provide accurate traffic statistics?
-
When comparing traffic data for my own sites and others, I see very large discrepancies between Google Analytics, Google AdPlanner, Compete, TrafficEstimate.com - TrafficEstimate.com used to be a great way to get data on other websites' traffic, but now they don't seem to show data for international sites, and the data matches very closely to other sources for some sites and not close at all for others (200% differences).
Does anybody have experience with the accuracy of TrafficEstimate.com?

Hi Jeffrey,
We own and operate TrafficEstimate.com and can provide a little more insight into how it works.
We built an algorithm that attempts to estimate traffic based on various criteria. We calibrate the algorithm based on traffic from real websites, many of which we own and operate, and some that are owned by people that we are friendly with. It's hard to get the algorithm to match the exact traffic number for each of these sites, but we do get it close (often within 10% to 20%).
Like any estimating tool, TrafficEstimate.com tends to work best for larger sites. That's not to say you need millions of visitors, but for sites that have less than 20,000 visitors per month, it's really hard to be accurate, for any estimating tool.
In checking our own sites, it does appear to be running on the low side, so I'll have our team update it to get it to be more accurate, at least for our own sites. Hopefully that will translate into better results for you too.
If you (or anyone else) would like to share specific website/traffic data with me to help us calibrate it, feel free to reach out to me via private message (click on my profile). I promise that I'll keep all information confidential.
One final note about the sites we cover, we do track historical traffic (to provide year-over-year trending) for a large number of sites, but we don't cover all sites. We will work on adding the ability to get the current traffic estimate for any site, even if we don't cover it on an ongoing basis.

I just spot checked a few domains I work on with TrafficEstimate.com and I would say that the website is not very accurate with their estimates.
I have not used Google AdPlanner.

What Exactly is traffic lift?
Under the keyword gap analysis under the competitive analysis report, there is a mention of traffic lift and it provides a number. Does the number represent the number of users or the number traffic to expect for that term? Or is it the positions?

I am looking to find the top pages based on traffic volume on my competitors websites, does anyone know of any good resources?
I want to know how which pages on my competitors websites are the most popular based on the traffic volume. I do not care how many links or directed to that page or any other metric. Only thing I am looking for is the traffic volume. It would also be nice to know the length of time spent on that page.

Creating Free Website Accounts (Weebly, Wix, Wordpress.com, etc) for Linking Purposes?
Greetings Mozzers, I came a cross several sites and when looking at their link profile I found they had several links from these free services to gain links. Obviously duplicate content is bad, but if all the content on each one was completely unique, would these links be of quality? Let's say, 1 link per site that is external to your site. I know it's a tricky topic but just wanted thoughts, would the above be a potentially beneficial method for gaining a simple quality link. Your advice and information is much appreciated!

Traffic estimates for any website?
Google's Display Network Ad Planner used to be the best for this (although was often still way out), but the data for the sites I used to check has disappeared. Does anyone know any other sites that provide half-decent estimates of traffic? trafficestimate.com, Compete and Alexa are way off. I'd be interested in paid services too. Thanks. 🙂

How to estimate what traffic you should be getting?
Hey guys i have a question in regards to targetting seo results. A lot of my customers will me SME and most have visitors of under 50 per day. My question is how do you judge the amount of traffic a website of a small local business should be getting? For instance i have a site that gets average 22 visits per day, i would love to know how much their competitors get per day so i can know what targets to strive for. I feel that is 22 is ten times more than the compeitors website then the amount of seo time needed is less than if it is 10 times behind what competitors get. Thoughts?
