Hi Dennis, Thanks for writing in. I think sometimes it is always difficult to build a tool that is best for everyone because of the diverse crowd we serve on a daily basis. I am curious however about what you are finding unreliable about our keyword tool, that way I could do my best to help you resolve your issues. If you are not comfortable doing that here, you could always send us an email to help@seomoz.org. Hope that helps, I look forward in hearing from you Best, Peter

What do you feel the tool should do that it's not doing for you? One of the hardest things about keyword research is building a comfort level with the tools at your disposal. Since none of them measure things in the same way, comfort tends to come from experience with them over time and even then, there can be more than a little grey area when it comes to choosing one term over another. I can tell you that if you're here for the keyword difficulty tool only, you may not be getting your money's worth out of your subscription. It is a tool that you want to use in combination with other tools--many of which are also available here. Relax, take a look around, try some stuff out, do some searches in the Q&A and round out your knowledge a little. You might find those things will help you just as much with your keyword research as the tool will.

How do you mean unreliable? Do you mean it's down or do you mean it is not accurate?

I am not sure how you are finding in unreliable... as far as the information and results are concern I find it very accurate but yes sometimes it goes down due to over usage of the pro users but i guess in that case you should contact to SEOmoz customer service team. Anyways.. Here are some other keyword difficulty tools available on the internet. http://www.webseoanalytics.com/free/seo-tools/keyword-difficulty.php http://www.seologs.com/keyword-difficulty.html hope this helps!

Unsolved Questions about travel industry keywords
My question is regarding my current learning of SEO and keyword research. I have been leaning towards Keyword Everywhere, SEMrush, and Google Keyword Planner for keyword research. What do you recommend? I know you might suggest Moz, but I'm looking for something that will enhance and help me find valuable keywords for the travel niche. If I sign up with Moz, will someone from the team help me with keyword research for the travel niche and my website? I haven't found any resources or lessons specifically focused on travel websites and their keywords. Moz Pro | | RavenBhutan0

Remove geographic modifiers from keyword list
I just pulled a search term report for all of 2013 from my PPC account. What I got was 673,000 rows of terms that have garnered at least 1 impression in 2013. This is exactly what I was looking for. My issue is that the vast majority of terms are geo-modified to include the city, the city and state or the zip code. I am trying to remove the geographic information to get to a list of root words people are interested in based on their search query patterns. Does anyone know how to remove all city, state and zip codes quickly without having to do a find and replace for each geo-modifier in excel? for example, if i could get a list of all city and state combinations in the US and a list of all zip codes, and put that list on a separate tab and then have a macro find and remove from the original tab any instances of anything from the second tab, that would probably do the trick. Then I could remove duplicates and have my list of root words. Moz Pro | | dsinger0

What exactly does this mean? That the service is down? Or the score will never be available? It seems like I get that and then the tool gets stuck and I get no other data. Moz Pro | | endlessrange0

Meta keywords no longer in use
Can someone point me to the official article explaining why meta keywords are no longer taken into account by search engines please? I know Moz has indicated that search engines ignore them, but I would like to read a bit more about it - what was the reason behind it and since when. Moz Pro | | coremediadesign0

What kind of keyword difficulty should I be aiming for when launching an new site?
I know that words in their 20's or 30's would be ideal, but it's proving hard for me to find relevant keywords with such scores (just a couple with scores in the 30's). Is going for words between 40-50 a waste of time? Thanks. Moz Pro | | ZakGottlieb711

Discrepancies in PA and LRDs reported in different SEOmoz tools
I've noticed a difference in the reported PA and LRD numbers for URLs depending on whether you use Open Site Explorer, or look at the same metrics from within the rankings history (in your campaign set up). I've checked this for a few URLs and what I'm seeing is the reported scores for PA and LRDs is different 9 times out of ten. The PA is sometiomes higher on one report, lower on another, or vice versa. Same for LRDs. I thought it might be because one report was lagging behind and using old data, but that would only make sense if I was seeing an increase in reported LRDs, but it just as often shows a decrease ! Is this just a bug in the campaign>rankings history report or is there a reason for the discrepancies? Moz Pro | | Websensejim0
