YouTube Video Transcript misinterpreting audio as a swear word and putting in transcript
-
Hi
I've just noticed a video uploaded to a clients youtube channel is misinterpreting a spoken word as a swear word, the F word :), will this have negative connotations ? could it result in video being considered 'adult content' ??
Any idea how to get this changed, should i report/flag it or will that likely make matters worse ? Or YT tech support email (chance would be a fine thing) ?
Also how do you set a video as the channel trailer ? (i cant find any option to do this)
Cheers
Dan

Hey Dan,
In short - no, I don't think is going to be a problem for you. YouTube are aware that their auto-generated transcripts are often inaccurate, so I don't imagine you're going to find that profanity coming up there has any effect on the categorization of the video. That said, It's really easy to fix by just uploading your own version of the transcript, which will take precedence over the autogenerated one. ThompsonPaul has given a great explanation of a quick and easy way to do that also on this thread.
In terms of a channel trailer, once you log into your YouTube account, under the "Home" button, there should be a massive icon called "Channel Trailer" with a blue button, which will allow you to upload a trailer or choose one from your library.

You Tube video transcriptions can be edited by the channel's administrator, Dan. Essentially, you download the transcription file, correct it in a text editor, then re-upload it to replace the existing one.
-
On your My Uploaded Videos page, select the one you want to caption, and click Edit.
-
Click on** Captions and Subtitles** from the dropdown menu.
-
Under the Available Caption Tracks header, click the** Download **button beside English: Machine Transcription.
-
Download that file and edit it in a text editor to correct any errors. (You can change where the captions fall on the video by changing those time stamps, but be sure you keep the formatting)
-
When finished editing your transcript, save the file, maintaining the same file name.
-
Upload the corrected file back to YouTube by clicking Add New Captions or Transcripts under Add a Caption Track.
The joys of self-serve

Can you get rich snippets for Youtube hosted videos?
My website has several videos, mostly product reviews and tutorials. I'd like for these videos to show in the SERPs with rich snippets, but I am hosting them through Youtube. What is your experience with Youtube hosted videos? Do they generate rich snippets? Or will Google always rank the Youtube video over your web page?

YouTube Video Transcription
Hello there! I'm wondering if there is any legalities involved with transcribing a video on YouTube and posting the transcription on a site that does not have the rights to the video while sourcing the video and giving credit.

Video SEO - Why are my videos not being indexed?
Hello All, I work on a site that has a lot of videos. The trouble is none of them are ranking. Here is an example of a page with a video on. If you click the play button you will see But none of these videos are being indexed, as you can see here. Is it because these videos are just mp4 files, rather than being embedded players (like SEOmoz use for instance)? Would embedding videos through Viddler / Wistia / Youtube etc help? Or is there some other issue at work here? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rich
