The best way to find the best opportunities is to read a ton of blogs in your industry and develop relationships with the most popular blogs in your niche by doing things like leaving thoughtful comments or engaging in conversations. The best guest post opportunities are on high authority sites that will send you significant traffic. If anyone can get an easy link from a site with minimal effort it probably has minimal SEO value. A good sign is if the articles on the site have a lot of social shares like Tweets, +1's, and Facebook Likes.

With all of Google's reiterating lately about 'If you build content, links will come' I'd tread carefully here. Better to create stellar, link worthy content that earns traffic on its own. Plus, with all of the concern about passing page rank, many bloggers are moving toward nofollowing.
Create awesome content, market cautiously, analyze what gets traffic and what doesn't. Refine. Rinse. Repeat or Adjust accordingly to what your audience wants and needs.
That said, myblogguest.com, is a community of guest bloggers featured by noneother than Moz, Search Engine Land and BlogHer. Looks like it's kind of a 'dating site' for blog content.
Good luck!

Go for sites that have readers who are interested in your subject area. YouMoz is a great place for a case study about your marketing efforts, but submitting a post about how to close you swimming pool for the winter and what chemicals to use will get your submission deleted and your account banned -- even if it's a great post that gives information that's really helpful and has relevant links. You're looking for a place where your content is a good match for the site.

Google Link Disavow and sites with extremely heavy but poor link metrics
Need help/opinions from the SEO's out there. I am working with a site that in the past hired an SEO company out of India. Over the course of their time together, this company submitted the clients url to tens of thousands of link exchanges and directories. Around the time of Penguin, the owners told me their inquiries dried up. Literally that same week they had a new website launched (designed by a local competitor) that really butchered the site. They were convinced the reduction in traffic/inquiries was due to the new site but I am convinced otherwise (suspect Penguin). Not only does the site need to be re-structured but their link portfolio needs to be diversified. Now on the plus side, the company caters and sponsors a number of events that earns them organic, relevant links. These are overshadowed by the tons of poor, irrelevant ones though. I read a few posts recently on the Google Link Disavow tool and to proceed slowly due to the unknown nature surrounding it. I have a good idea of what links are problematic and which ones are well served. However, the number of problematic links in my estimation is quite high (thousands). I am very hesitant to dive into Google Disavow and submit such a large number of requests. What are your thoughts? How would you proceed?

What benefit does a site with a low DA get from someone guest posting who links to a site with a high DA?
I'm relatively new to link building and although this may be an obvious question I can't seem to find an answer anywhere even after searching Google.

Are you careful about linking back to sites that link to you?
Suppose that a trusted website added you to their recommended links page. Do you worry that linking back to them from a page on your site will diminish the value of the original link?

Back to Basics: Article Directories :)
Does anyone do this? I don't any more but what I used to do is: Find 20 article directories I thought were good, register to all and note down in a excel sheet. Generate 1 article (500 words) and make a byline to go with it containing my anchor text link. I would then systematically go through my excel sheet submitting my article to each one. 2 weeks later repeat the process. This is something I used to do a few years ago but stopped because it was duplicate content across the directories but I think I was probably going about it the wrong way. Anyone?

Linkbuilding TO Your Guest Blog Post?
Hypothetical situation: You write a guest blog post for a popular blog about your niche topic. The post is a hit and sends you visitors, leads, and social media followers. Would you consider running a linkbuilding campaign to the blog post in order to help it rank better for its target keyword(s), given that the post has proven to convert successfully, despite the fact that the post is on a domain other than your own?

Article Links
I write and publish artcles. Typically I publish them on a few top article sites like EZineArticles. The articles then get picked up by other sites, often numbering in the hundreds. All of the articles are published with a link back to our website using a keyword. Are there any SEO risks in this type of link proliferation?
