The benefits from having a dedicated IP
-
Is the true? Claim by SiteGround
Having a dedicated IP for each website is considered by some experts as an advantage for search engine optimization. There is a common believe that sites with dedicated IP addresses do better in the search engine results than those on shared IPs. Such sites do not share the risk of being banned for sharing the same IP in case another website hosted on the same server gets banned by a search engine.

I have 7-8 ad-sense blog websites under one hosting, Now I am planing to create selling website. My blogs were not having good content and they are decreasing in ranking (my be panda). So I need to remove those websites from the hosting? should they effect my new selling website negatively?

In the great Google infrastructure, I'm sure that Google knows what IP address your site is hosted on, and all the ones tied to it. In one of the past MOZ blog posts you can see a number of factors Google looks at to see what you control. We used dedicated IP's for each client, just in case anything ever happened to one account, it would not affect the others. They are close in IP address range, since they are on the same block, but none are on the same number. This isn't an attempt to gain SEO rank, as much as it is to protect the client.
Locally, I have reason to believe its a different story. For example, we are located in St Louis, and use a local server center located in downtown St Louis. After changing our site from hostgator under a shared IP, (Provo, Utah) to a local server center, we saw an drastic (in internet time) improvement in site load time, responsiveness, and believe it or not, a ranking boost....true story, no joke. It wasn't a large boost, but we moved up 2 spots on our main keyword on page one, and 1-2 in other places. We didn't make any other changes to the site, other than adding a few blog posts, and this was not around any major algorithm shift or update. We have seen this pattern repeat with other clients as well.
My guess is that Google liked the decreased load times, the local server location (as it matched the city on our site, somehow verifying our location further), and the fact that the site was on a dedicated IP address. If we had just changed the site's IP address by itself, I do not think we would have seen any impact or result change.
"there is really no SEO benefit of having a unique IP for each of your sites unless you're attempting to pass link juice between each, which falls into the greyhat category."
I don't think you would get away with this for very long, or that it would benefit you in any way. Google would see that you host or control these sites through your analytics account, or IP range. If you wanted to pull it off, and have separate analytics accounts, dedicated IP's etc, I doubt the result would be worth the time.

Depending on what your site's purpose is, I have to respectfully disagree with the above comments. If you're site is selling something, you need an SSL certificate, and (I'm reasonably) certain, you can't have that without a dedicated IP address. All things equal, e-commerce sites with an SSL certificate will rank higher than sites without one. Plus, there are other non-seo benefits to a dedicated ip address, and it's inexpensive. To me it's a no-brainer, but I understand why people would disagree.

Google bans sites (domain names) rather than IP addresses. However if you are thinking of moving your site so https then you would need a dedicated IP address. Yoast has published an interesting article here Moving your website to https / SSL: tips & tricks perhaps that's what they are referring to.

I agree with Bill, there is really no SEO benefit of having a unique IP for each of your sites unless you're attempting to pass link juice between each, which falls into the greyhat category.

Nope, as far as I know. Matt Cutt's commented on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsSwqo16C8s
The only time I could see it was useful if you were doing some black hatish stuff and didn't want multiple domains on the same C Block that were related, but I'm pretty sure Penguin/ Panda is catching that sort of thing now.

Dynamic referenced canonical pages based on IP region and link equity question
Hi all, My website uses relative URLs that has PHP to read a users IP address, and update the page's referenced canonical tag to an region specific absolute URL for ranking / search results. E.g. www.example.com/category/product - relative URL referenced for internal links / external linkbuilding If a US IP address hits this link, the URL is the same, but canonicalisation is updated in the source to reference www.example.com**/us/**category/product, so all ranking considerations are pointed to that page instead. None of these region specific pages are actually used internally within the site. This decision was done so external links / blog content would fit a user no matter where they were coming from. I'm assuming this is an issue in trying to pass link equity with Googlebot, because it is splitting the strength between different absolute canonical pages depending on what IP it's using to crawl said links (as the relative URL will dynamically alter the canonical reference which is what ranking in SERPs) Any assistance or information no matter how small would be invaluable. Thanks!

SEO benefit of tracked URLs
I've found a lot of mixed info on this topic so I thought I'd ask the experts (Moz community). If I'm adding tracking parameters to URLs to monitor organic traffic will this affect the rank/value of the original clean URL? If so, would best practice be to 301 redirect the tracked URL to the original:

i.e. redirect www.example.com/category/?DZID=Organic_G_NP/SQ&utm_source=Organic&utm_medium=Google TO www.example.com/category Thanks for your help!

Better UX or more Dedicated Pages (and page views)?
Hi, I'm building a new e-commerce site and I'm conflicting about what to do in my category pages. If we take for example a computer store.

I have a category of laptops and inside there are filters by brand (Samsung, HP, etc.). I have two options - either having the brand choice open a new dedicated page -
i.e. Samsung-Laptops.aspx or simply do a JQuery filter which gives a better and faster user experience (immediate, animated and with no refresh). **Which should I use? (or does it depend on the keyword it might target)? **
Samsung laptops / dell laptops / hp laptops - are a great keyword on there own! By the way, splitting Laptops.aspx to many sub category physical pages might also help by providing the site with many actual pages dealing with laptops altogether.0 -
Benefits of Rich Snippets for financial products
Does anyone have experience of using rich snippets for non-physical products? Our website offers credit cards comparison service. Do you think that tagging each card's page with rich snippets such as credit card image, name, description and category makes sense? The idea is to make it stand out in the search results.

Duplicate internal links on page, any benefit to nofollow
Link spam is naturally a hot topic amongst SEO's, particularly post Penguin. While digging around forums etc, I watched a video blog from Matt Cutts posted a while ago that suggests that Google only pays attention to the first instance of a link on the page As most websites will have multiple instances of a links (header, footer and body text), is it beneficial to nofollow the additional instances of the link? Also as the first instance of a link will in most cases be within the header nav, does that then make the content link text critical or can good on page optimisation be pulled from the title attribute? I would appreciate the experiences and thoughts Mozzers thoughts on this thanks in advance!

Canonical URL redirect to different domain - SEO benefits?
Hello Folks, We are having a SEO situation here, and hope your support will help us figure out that. Let's say there are two different domains www.subdomian.domianA.com and www.domainB.com. subdomain.domainA is what we want to promote and drive SEO traffic. But all our content lies in domainB. So one of the thoughts we had is to duplicate the domainB's content on subdomian.domainA and have a canonical URL redirect implemented. Questions: Will subdomain.domainA.com get indexed in search engines for the content in domainB by canonical redirect? Do we get the SEO benefits? So is there any other better way to attain this objective? Thanks in advance.

Can I Improve Organic Ranking by Restrict Website Access to Specific IP Address or Geo Location?
I am targeting my website in US so need to get high organic ranking in US web search. One of my competitor is restricting website access to specific IP address or Geo location. I have checked multiple categories to know more. What's going on with this restriction and why they make it happen? One of SEO forum is also restricting website access to specific location. I can understand that, it may help them to stop thread spamming with unnecessary Sign Up or Q & A. But, why Lamps Plus have set this? Is there any specific reason? Can I improve my organic ranking? Restriction may help me to save and maintain user statistic in terms of bounce rate, average page views per visit, etc...
