How to track Affiliate Clicks to Google Analytics
-
Hi,
We would like to track the affiliate link clicks. Is there any way to track it from Google Analytic?

Rajiv,
In GA are you looking under Goals or Events? Go to Behavior ---> Events.
Do you see anything there? And are you sure people are clicking those buttons?
That landing page is massively keyword stuffed. If it works for you then fine, but if you're having trouble ranking I would look into drastically reducing keyword use on the page.
Good luck!

Hello Everett,
It seems that you provided Classic Analytics link even we are using Universal Analytics. set the function according to Universal Analytics but there no tracking.

Did this work for you Rajiv?
Event Tracking is definitely what you're looking for. You can learn more about it here:

Hi Rajiv,
Use this ga('send','event','category','action'); tracking will work, you can test by clicking yourself on the link.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Hello Alick300,
After watching your referred video, I implemented the process to track the click but conversion count is still 0 in Google Analytics. Could you check where did I mistake?
Web site http://www.adulthosting.org/ on the home page, visit now link is given in a table. on the button click following code Placed :
And in GA I defined a Goal selecting type Event and 'Affiliate' Category is taken under Goal details.
Is there any issue with function used in HTML on button click or in Goal Setting.

Hi Carlos,
This guide for WordPress but we are not using WrodPress platform. Also, Installation of Google Analytics Plugin is required. I wonder if there is a functionality in GA without any installation.

Hi,
You can track affiliate link clicks by event tracking. I'm sharing you a video that will help you to track any clicks by event tricking.

Hope this helps.

Another way is through using StatCounter - a free competitor to Google Analytic.
It has a pre-built external link tracking, which I use on a number of client sites to track exit links. This may be handy for affiliate tracking too. Attached is a screengrab of the exit link tracking dashboard

What is the danger of integrating different affiliate program widgets far under our core content?
We have pages with lots of unique content that are ranking very well in google.
Affiliate Marketing | | lcourse
I am now considering to add towards the end of the pages widgets from the booking.com affiliate program and also from the affiliate program of two other accommodtion sites. These affilliate widgets would be placed far beyond our core content in the bottom 15% of the page. Each widget will contain a large number of links to the different accomodation options that booking.com or others offer. In our context this information would be indeed very useful for our visitors. Shall I be concerned that our google rankings may suffer due to google perceiving our site as less quality (or google misinterpreting our intent to generate traffic to affiliate programs) ? If google rankings would be suffering, is this something we would normally see in a week (most of our pages are crawled daily by google) and then recover in a week when we would remove the widgets or would this generally be something that would affect the ranking over the course of a month or more? Shall I be concerned abou link dillution since my pages would now have a lot of links pointing to the affiliate sites, which could devalue my internal links? Any thoughts?0 -

New to Affiliates Programs - Any advice?
Hi, I've no background knowledge of affiliate programs and am wondering if this would be a good idea for our company, www.vintageheirloom.com? We sell for the most part expensive, vintage bags and jewellery. Would an affiliates program be appropriate or possibly annoy and hinder customer loyalty rather than promote it? I'm using WP with Woocommerce and have seen a plugin that connects Woocommerce with Ambassador. Does anyone have any previous experience with this company, worked well, any things to watch out for etc. One issue that puzzles me if that I get the idea that you can put a tracking code on say a 3rd party blog banner, person clicks and buy product, that gets tracked. But what if customer abandons sale, comes back later directly to site and purchases? I'm guessing this isn't tracked. Is that right? As an aside I've a blogger friend who I'd like to pay for sending traffic that leads to sales. Is this the best way to track? Would the addition of 'How did you hear about us' question during 'Add to cart' process be a back up method? Any downsides to that, other than customer ignoring it? Thanks a lot for looking & any suggestions you may have! Kevin

Issues with centrally hosting your own affiliate links?
Can anyone see any issues centralising affiliate links across a network? Example - many of us would use some kind of redirect from our sites like abc.com/go/afflink1
Affiliate Marketing | | RaceMedia
bcd.com/go/afflink1 using either htaccess, php or javascript to redirect to the affiliate site But as your network of site grows - to change a link involves visiting 40 sites to change each of the files in the "go" folders. Would there be any net effect from using an otherwise vacant domain to host the links - so they only need to be changed in one place? Example
abc/go/afflink1 links to afflinks.com/1 which then redirects to affiliate site
bcd/go/afflink1 links to afflinks.com/1 which then redirects to affiliate site So all your links across the network for afflink1 would point to your afflinks.com/1 Any changes only require changes to one file afflinks.com/1 Assuming there is nothing else on afflinks.com - would there be any issues? Assume all links no followed and afflinks.com noindex. AND.... our redirects have been in place for some years using javascript, php or .htaccess. What is the current best practice for redirecting affiliate links?0 -
Redirect to Affiliate script via htacces - Is that risky?
Hi, We are offering an affiliate programme to publishers. The problem is that the links to the Affiliate Script are very user-UNfriendly (something like http://scripts.affiliateprogramme....../..../....) I would like to give them a simple url: www.website.com/PublishersPage And then redirect this via HTACCESS to the script link (which would then send them back to us). Would that be a problem for SEO? for Google? Thank you for your help.

I need some feedback on the value of affiliate aggregators like Link Share
My company decided to start a Link Share affiliate program at the beginning of this year. I've had serious reservations about the value of the program since the beginning but was overruled. Here are my concerns: The majority of publishers seem to be coupon scraper sites or borderline link farms I am told the biggest revenue earners in our network are publishing articles about my company with links back to our site but if they are Google Alerts sure isn't finding them and a manual search hasn't turned up anything either. This makes me think these publishers are using some sort of unsavory way to drive traffic to our site or maybe even cookie traffic that was coming to our site anyway in order to get credit for the sale. Most of all I'd like to hear from anyone else who has used Link Share in the past. Secondly I realize there's not a lot of information here but I'm wondering if this passes the smell test for anyone else. Any feedback would be appreciated.

How to use different affiliate link based on geolocalisation in a Seo friendly way ?
Hi All, My website Sportytrader.com http://www.sportytrader.com/ works as an sport betting affiliate website on the french language markets. With sport betting legalisation in Europe, only people from France can play on french sport betting website. The same for Belgium or swiss. We have traffic from everywhere. So we need to geolocalize all our affiliate links to provide the right affiliate link to the right person in function of his location? What is the best way and the more seo friendly way to do that? Thanks a lot, Renaud
