Is there a quick and easy way to check a website to see which outbound links open in the browser window and not in a new window?
-
I have just come across a few blogs on a website that have outbound links that open in the browser window (and therefore direct people off site to these links) (there are also other outbound links that open in a new window)- is there a quick and easy way to check which outbounds links open in a new window and which open in the browser window?
Much obliged
Liam

I have a premium subscription to Screaming Frog so I'll get on this straight away - thought there must be an easy way to find them but forgot about the custom settings in Screaming Frog
Will get on this right away
Kind Regards

Thanks Ria - looking for software to make that process quicker

Greetings Liam,
You could use a site spider like ScreamingFrog for example to spider each page and search for target="_blank". That would give you a nice list of the links that spawn a new window. You would set up a search term to find on the pages inside the "Custom Tab"http://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/user-guide/tabs/#12
Good luck!

If the <a></a><a>tag includes _target="blank" then the link will open in a new window/tab, if that helps at all.</a>

Internal Links from Blog
Quick question. In regards to linking to products from your blog. I've read recently that linking excessively between your site can be a bad SEO habit. So, I was curious if anyone else has heard of this. Plus, if you have a blog, how many internal links should you have going to you pages on your site - other blogs, products etc? Thanks.

How best to roll out updated website to new responsive layout
We are having an issue about when to upload newly converted pages to website. By going responsive we are basically going with a new layout, different look entirely. I think it's best to wait until every page in the site has been transferred over to the new layout. Partially because some urls are being updated too, and the look is different enough that it may look like half the site got hi-jacked. My partner thinks rolling out/uploading each page as it is complete is the way to go. Need input on pros and cons of either method.

Tracking Down Rogue Spam Links
In Feb, 2015 www.mommyupgrade.com site received the following notification in GWT: http://www.mommyupgrade.com/: Suspected hackingFeb 4, 2015
Content Development | | hammia
Google has detected that some of your pages may contain hidden text or cloaking, techniques that are outside our Webmaster Guidelines.
Specifically, we detected that your site may have been modified by a third party. Typically, the offending party gains access to an insecure directory that has open permissions. Many times, they will upload files or modify existing ones, which then show up as spam in our index.
Sample URLs:At that time, the site was checked by the host and site owner and any suspicious links removed. We thought the problem was resolved until a MOZ crawl on March 22 which highlighted a number of hack links again. This is the link format: http://www.mommyupgrade.com/?p=online-slots All are related to gambling, casinos and slots. To find the links, we downloaded the MOZ crawl report and found that all the links were referred from this page: http://www.mommyupgrade.com/how-to-make-rainbow-lollipop-cookies/ Searching that post shows no sign of links to the rogue pages. I would really appreciate some advice on how to find the source of these links and delete them from this site once and for all. Also, please explain how it is possible for a post or page to refer to another page without that link showing up in the code? (Is this some black hat technique that I need to know about in order to protect my sites?) Also... at the moment Google Webmaster Tools are not reporting any security issues for this site. Any help appreciated.0 -
How to make new content Indexed faster by google
I would like to know what can I do. Normally it takes google around 3 days to index my content. I got a site map, swiched the crawling rate to the fastest in my webmaster tools. I also tried crawling my homepage as google bot and sending it to the index with all linked pages but even if I do so my content takes around 3 days if not more to get indexed. I publish around 20 posts a week. My SEOmoz page authority is 48. Some sites of my competition seem to be getting their content indexed in the same day. What else can be done?

Does it do any damage to post my blogs for marketing community websites on my own website too?
I'm blogging quite often for one of the biggest marketing community's in the Netherlands and I want to post these blogs on our own company's weblog too. Our own blog is meant for sharing professional know how and boosting our identity as professional web agency. But off course, we also benefit from it SEO wise. If I post these blogs on our own weblog, I have to add a link to the original article on the marketing community website. So, my question is: will that cause any damage for our own website?
