Keyword difficulty and time to rank
-
Hello,
Is there a correlation between the keyword difficult and the time it takes to rank ?
In other words let's say I try to rank for the keyword "seo" and it is going to take 2 years to rank 1 st whereas if I go for "best seo tools in 2018" and it takes just 2 weeks ?
Thank you,
-
There is no any Specific but you can use my personal formula!
If Allintitle: = Less then 50 then can rank in 1 month
Allinurl: = Less then 50 then can rank in 1 month
If greater then it then you can increase days according to this!
Thanks

Yes, there is a direct correlation between the keyword difficulty and the time it takes to rank for it. There is also a concept/formula that can predict how difficult it would be to rank for a particular keyword. It is called Keyword Golden Ratio (KGR) and is developed by Doug Cunnington. KGR is calculated by dividing the number of allintitle Google results for a specific keyword by its search volume. If the KGR for a keyword is less than 0.25, it's a low-competitive keyword that you can rank for easily and quickly. Please note that 0.25 is just a rule of thumb and you can select any threshold you think is right for you.
There is also a nifty tool built for this, called Allintitle Bulk Search tool that calculates the KGR score for many keywords at once: https://allintitle.co
Hope this helps. -

Hi there,

Hi Espres SEO,
Thank you for the your reply.
Can you send me a link that say that traffic is an important ranking factor, I never heard about that.
Thank you,
-
Hi seoanalytics,
In that situation I would try and share the content on social media and in slack communities as much as possible to get the word out. By doing so you increase direct traffic (an important ranking factor) and increase the chances of someone linking to the content externally.
thanks

My question:
When you have written good content and have a good internal linking structure, what else can you do to rank on high competition keywords (those that have a difficulty of around 50 for example). Just be patient and wait or is there anything else that can be done ?
Thank you,
-
It means in some way that big companies with strong PA and DA have an advantage on high volume keyword ?
Length of content does it mean that you need long content to compete ? or can you compete with better content even though it isn't long ?
Thank you,
-
EGOL is correct above, keep in mind there are a ton of other factors and your competition online (those ranking highly currently) are more than likely not standing still in an SEO sense (so it is a moving target usually).
The lower the competition, the "easier" and supposed "less time" it will take to rank on page 1 of Google is a good rule of thumb. It is also incredibly important to do competitive research on those in the top 3 positions on page 1 to see how long their content is, the quality of it, and the number of quality links it has pointing to it.
-
Coud it be that content of the same quality takes less time to rank when there is a less competition ?
I understand about all the other variable but see that you aren't suppose to ask for links but you content is suppose to attract links it means that once you publish your content you need to wait and for some keyword you might need to wait less and for some more for your content to start being visible.
Does strength of a domain really matter because I have seen webpages with almost no PA and DA outrank page with strong PA and DA.
It is on long tail queries but still, it seems that content matter a lot those days. Link helps but only make a difference if you are trying to rank on SEO for longer queries it seems to matter less.
Thank you,
-
Hi,
It all depends on competition. In order to rank competitive keywords huge effort and time required specially in case of single word keyword.
If you search 'SEO' in Google ,42,90,00,000 results showing while searching 'best seo tools in 2018', 39,70,000 results showing. You can see difference is huge that is why 'best seo tools' easy to rank and get less time and efforts.
In short competition is directly proportional to time & effort*
Thanks

The amount of time that it takes to rank has a lot of variables... the variables that you have some control over area....
A) the quality of your content
B) the strength of your website
C) your ability to get links into the new page
The actions of your visitors are also important. They can share, they can engage, or they can do one of these or neither.
The actions of your competitors are also important. They can be working on content for similar keywords, they can be working on links to their competing page, or working on links to their entire website.
All of this is why SEOs can't guarantee rankings or "time to rank". But mainly, they don't have control over their competitors.

Finding Ranking for search term and increasing ranking
Hi. The company that I'm working with would like to rank highly in google for certain generic search terms (dentist, dentists, etc.). Certain websites the company has used to rank highly in google for generic keywords, but has not for years now since google has revised their algorithm so many times. Moz lists that the company websites are not found in the top 51+ results in google. My first question is: **Is there a way, apart from manually searching the results, to find the ranking position of the website in google? **Ideally, I would like to find a program that will do this. Second, I've been reading a lot of the great articles and comments on Moz, and I've been learning a lot more about SEO. My focus has shifted to spending more attention on User Experience and Social Media instead of placing the exact keywords in the pages / tags of the website. What area(s) should I be focusing on to best increase the ranking of the company website for certain generic terms? Ideally, I'd like to create good quality content, so that users will not instantly click away. I appreciate any thoughts or comments. Thank you in advance!

Trouble ranking
I have a site that got messed over pretty hard by a BigCommerce issue. They used to rank but then Big Commerce had a glitch that set every page on the site to a https which was auto set, by their system, to not be indexed. This caused the entire site to go missing. It was then fixed by me, only to have the same glitch happen again. I again fixed it, and BigCommerce released a patch to resolve the issue. They admitted blame to my client and said it can take a while to resolve. It has been a few months now, and google is slowly recrawling the site. It has about half the pages indexed. The pages that are indexed do not rank at all. I was wondering if you guys see any major flags that would cause this or if it is still related to the big commerce glitch. link

Local ranking (keyword) strategies
Hello SEOmozers, I've been working on improving all components of my SEO skills for the past 6 months. I have definitely had some great victories and some gray defeats. My newest challenge is local ranking for a home improvement company. My target is to rank them locally with Google within the top 7 results. I have managed to do so, but only for one keyword "windows and doors CITY". My campaign, in terms of anchor text has a wide variety of long and shortail keywords, I have not concentrated on the above keyword. My question is, how do I go about to rank this website in the local results for all other keywords "windows CITY", "window replacement CITY", etc... What I don't understand is how Google picks up which keywords to rank the website locally for, and which ones to ignore. Any information will be well received. Cheers, Nikster

Can I Refine My Keyword List to Highlight Top (15) Keywords?
My client is wondering if I could provide him with a list of his site's 15 Top performing SEO keywords. However, based on the layout of everything I've used here on SEOMoz, I don't believe that's possible. Or, am i incorrect? Can you indeed come up with a list of Top (XX) SEO keywords for a given time period, for a campaign/website? Thanks ahead of time.

Rankings Dropped
Hello, I wonder if anyone can point us in the right direction. Our main domain name has got a good SEO profile the domain is 12 years old and we have some good reputable links. On the 7th of Jan our website dropped in the rankings from 3rd to 10th for one of our main keywords and from then onwards some of our other keywords have dropped. We have a lot of landing pages that target specific keywords which look like a template page but just with the content changed. Can anyone pin point what could of caused this problem or has anyone experienced this before and knows how to fix it. I personally think we have been hit by the panda. Thanks, Scott

Website Ranking Issue
Hey All My question is specfic to a particular website. The category of the website is Kitchen Appliances. The keyword is extremely competitive. The website I am currently optimizing has loads of products and many pages as well. I am constantly building links from industry specific websites for the website as well as composing articles and leading the users back to the website with keyword rich anchor text. I have been doing this for around 3 months and I do not see the website in the first 30 pages of the SERP (for the keyword kitchen appliances - the site is a page rank 2 BTW). No bugs reported as well in Webmaster tools. My next step is to add these articles to the website (www.example.com/KitchenAppliances ) with keyword rich metatags as well as content with internal links to my product pages. I also plan on sending traffic to these pages to build the pages link popularity. Do you think I can expect better results for the article pages than my original website product pages or do you think I should continue with the link building activity I was performing originally for the website. regards Ryan
