I've read some conflicting information on YMYL and EAT.  If the Google Quality Raters are out there reviewing YMYL pages and scoring them on EAT, does that site's score have an impact on that page's/site's ranking?

The purpose of Search Quality Evaluators (SQE) is to ensure that the desired results of algorithm updates are being met.  They do not have a direct impact on your site.  A low rating by a SQE will not directly affect your site.

What you may notice is that if your site is not meeting the guidelines and other sites from that search aren't either, your site may be affected by future algorithm updates to filter those types of results out.  But it won't be on a per site basis and will generally affect a particular type of search and not others.  Meaning that if you scored low on one type of result but high on another, the high one wouldn't necessarily be affected by the lower rating.  Again, that's because it's not on a site basis, but a search basis.

I should mention for people reading this who aren't familiar with YMYL or EAT, that those stand for "Your Money or Your Life" and "Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness" respectively.

These are guidelines use by a SQEs to ensure certain types of sites meet higher standards.

YMYL is covered in the Search Quality Evaluator Guidelines in Part 1: Section 2.3

EAT is covered in the Search Quality Evaluator Guidelines in Part 1: Section 3.2

Huge difference between GSC ranking and browser ranking for certain keywords: How to proceed?

Hi, There is a huge ranking difference between the GSC and browser  for our primary keyword. As per GSC, our ranking is around 15 and when checking on the multiple different incognito browsers it's around 50. How to handle this? Which is the accurate one? Product expert from Google forums claim that what I see on browsers are the personalized results; but I tried on different browsers with different connections. Thanks

Site appearing and disappearing from google serps.

Hi, My website  is normally on page 2-3 on google consistently. Over the past month it has been appearing and then completely disappearing from the serps. One day it will be on page 2, then the next day completely missing from the serps. When i check the index it seems to be indexed correctly when doing site:mysite.com. I don't understand why this keeps happening, any experience with this issue? It doesn't seem to be a google dance as far as I can tell. When my other sites dance they typically just go up or down a few ranks for a couple weeks until they stabilize. Not completely fall off the search engine.

Fresh backlinks vs old backlinks: A solid ranking factor?

Hi Moz community, Backlinks being a major ranking factor, do they must be very recent or fresh to make a ranking difference compared to the backlinks which are years old? We know usually fresh content ranks well, but I wonder how much the fresh/recent backlinks impact in rankings. Do the years old backlinks from related and reputed website have same impact on rankings? Thanks

Ranking For Synonyms Without Creating Duplicate Content.

We have 2 keywords that are synonyms we really need to rank for as they are pretty much interchangeable terms. We will refer to the terms as Synonym A and Synonym B. Our site ranks very well for Synonym A but not for Synonym B. Both of these terms carry the same meaning, but the search results are very different. We actively optimize for Synonym A because it has the higher search volume of the 2 terms. We had hoped that Synonym B would get similar rankings due to the fact that the terms are so similar, but that did not pan out for us. We have lots of content that uses Synonym A predominantly and some that uses Synonym B. We know that good content around Synonym B would help, but we fear that it may be seen as duplicate if we create a piece that’s “Top 10 Synonym B” because we already have that piece for Synonym A. We also don’t want to make too many changes to our existing content in fear we may lose our great ranking for Synonym A. Has anyone run into this issue before, or does anyone have any ideas of things we can do to increase our position for Synonym B?

Low Domain Authority - Rank Well For Competitive Keywords

I have been following a competitor's link profile on OSE for over 8 months. Their linkbacks have remained the same (3 follow, 9 nofollow links), all from low-quality directory sites. However, my competitor continues to improve in rankings  and is now #1 for competitive keyword searches. How is this possible? Is there a way to hide your link profile or links from OSE? Any tips are appreciated - Thanks!

Correlation of Rankings with Personal Pronouns?

Has there been any tests or studies that associate writing in the first person or using "emotional" feeling phrases to higher rankings.  More specifically to a blog structure. I'm trying a blog option with a  local telecommunications company, however I'm having flashbacks of writing those 5 paragraph essays when taking the SATs.  The owner decided he should take on the responsibility and it's like he just can't bring himself to write from a personal perspective. He's a bit stuck in the "professional" mindset and worried about appearing unprofessional.  I empathize with his perspective, but I know it's not going to work..or maybe it will? it's just not going to be interesting to readers, but perhaps google will appreciate the fresh content.  I don't think letting an employee takeover will be an option as he's very protective of the company's image. So would you ditch the blog? or continue with the dull posts?
