Confused About Potential Spammy Inbound Link
-
I unsure how my page got backlinked on this "passive DNS" website: http://pdns.daloo.de/search.php?alike=0&q=66.96.162.137
This looks to be my only inbound link, so I am worried this is negatively affecting my site ranking. Is this 56% spam score link negatively affecting my website? If so, any suggestions?
Any feedback or insight would be greatly appreciated as I am very ignorant to what this person's webpage is about and why my page was linked..
Sincerely,
Hayden

Sometimes when a business gets a domain name, yet it can comes attached with a lot of spam links sometimes.
This could be because of previous businesses who owned it, may have built spam links to it, so you need to check this, because this can happen when some businesses buy a domain name. As your web designers, before you buy the domain, whether there's spam links leading to it?

If you have spam backlinks coming to your website, it can negatively affect the business's organic SEO.
In matter of fact, the business could receive a "Google penalty"
Our demolition website had this problem, it had a lot of spam links, and the organic SEO was damaged.

@Cashflo Trading : We actually just found this link in our backlink profile also when looking at our dofollow.. It does have a high spam score but it shouldn't hurt you if this is your only link. We're not worried about it. Please let me know how your disavow request goes.. find our email on: https://alchemyleads.com/seo-services/

What Google Analytics Data to Share with Potential Website Buyer
Hi Mozzers,
Industry News | | emerald
We have contacted our competitors to let them know we would like to sell our website (domain and all content). One of them has asked for Google Analytics data. Which parts of this and how is this data best shared in such a case? As this is the opening of offers, I'm assuming some kind of PDF export with a summary of some Analytics data is sufficient to see who is serious. Then for those who are serious more data could be shared. Or is it ever ok to share your full Analytics with a competitor? Would love to hear what data and best practises are used to share this kind of information. Thank you.0 -
Will editorial links with UTM parameters marked as utm_source=affiliate still pass link juice?
Occasionally some of our clients receive editorial mentions and links in which the author adds utm parameters to the outbound links on their blog. The links are always natural, never compensated, and followed. However, they are sometimes listed as utm_source=affiliate even thought we have no existing affiliate relationship with the author. My practice has been to ask the author to add a rel="norewrite" attribute to the link to remove any trace of the word affiliate. I have read that utm parameters do not affect link juice transfer, however, given the inaccurate "affiliate" source, I wouldn't want Google to misunderstand and think that we are compensating people for followed editorial links. Should I continue following this practice, or is it fine to leave these links as they are? Thanks!

Do old links from my own unrelated subject websites improve or hinder my rankings?
Several years ago I placed links on two of my other websites I own and control one my old company about CCTV installation and the other one is the official website for actor Sir Roger Moore. The links are going to my holiday cottage letting website http://www.endeavourcottage.co.uk/ and at the time I wanted to improve my rankings with these links which are still there. The vast majority of my other inbound links are natural and are on other people's websites with some diversity regarding the anchor text. So my question is the old links on these unrelated subject websites which are also stored on the same web hosting company causing a problem and would it be beneficial to remove them to leave them in place? Also several years ago I set up two other websites at the same hosting company also promoting holiday cottages in the same place thinking I might have more bites of the cherry, but they've produced very little traffic and are not ranked at all well, but they do links to my main letting website, could these because in a problem? My domain authority seems to be equal to some of the companies which are higher placed for the short tail keywords on page 1 of Google and they have less inbound links, although they are usually bigger companies and I know many things which influence rankings. I am trying strategies to improve the rankings, which have dropped to a small degree over recent months.

Meta keywords confusion: include none, 3, 5, 20?
Over the last few months, I have come across a great variety of opinions on the use of meta keywords in the SEO plug ins or tools I fill out for customers. Some people and organizations advise to leave that field empty, others suggest to use maximum 3 keywords, but I have also heard 5 or maximum 20. I am quite confused about this? Does anyone know Google's latest opinion on this? And what about the other search engines Yahoo and Bing?

Concerned about where links are coming from
Hi I am hoping someone can help me with this. I run a small seo company for a few select companies in the luxury markets. Due to certain circumstances I need to outsource a lot of link building until my in house link builders can return to work. After a phone conversation with an SEO company which offer white label service (quite a large UK company but will remain nameless) I became extremely concerned that they are supply paid links to there customers. I will explain what i mean and would appreciate advice on whether I should stay clear or not. They claim to have access to over 1000 websites in many different niches and can get a whole host of links from contextual (which they said would give 3 links in 300 words which rang the first alarm bell) then said the other come from primary theme links and hybrid links (oh which neither they would properly explain what they are). My main concern is they said the links are made and need to be "maintained" by a yearly fee so they are not removed. When I asked if they surely count as paid links I got a usual boiler room style sales pitch. My instincts tell me to stay away but maybe I am just reading it all wrong. They claim to already white label to over 300 other SEO companies, but it all sounds a bit risky to me after Googles tough stance on this! Thanks Paul

How to go about removing bad/irrelevent links?
We have been made aware of a series of irrelevant links on some rather dodgy sites. http://www.designerdogstop.com/level-static/http://www.bestfirepits.net/some-of-the-best-vacations-for-families/2010/05/05/ http://whatcigarsdoismoke.com/cigar-lighters/cigarette-cigar-2/ http://dollfuss.org/build-bear-hawaii/ Absolute rubbish im sure you will agree. These links must surely be causing our link profile some damage. They are currently wordpress sites with no means of contacting the authors. What ways and means are there of removing these negative pages and links? Cheers all, any help appreciated.

Questions to help get to know a potential client and see what the possibilities are for there campaign?
OK so I am putting together a list of questions to refer potential clients to. The purpose of these questions is to: 1, Help them understand the difference between "just give us your keywords and we will make you rank" seo and the full range of options that are advocated here on seo moz. .... 2, Get them to see that there are different levels of involvement that are available for different aspects of a campaign and give them ideas and options on how much input they want to have as well as make them see that we can help them with even the stuff they are gonna do themselves or do it for them with there input and permission. Thats where things get a bit confusing I was thinking of having a list of fifty linkbuilding/linkbaiting techniques and check box options beside each one so that they can read a little bit about the particular technique ie forum participation for example and then see how they felt like that related to there industry , wether they would want there staff to do it with some training from us wther they would want us to help them find the right forums and show them how to link back and to which page, or wether they would just want us to handle everything or simply not feel that that was right for there business .. then they would move on to the next thing ie video creation or user generated content and in the end we would have a big list of things to discuss with them and they would have a better understandiing of how much there is to good seo and what might work for them and also how we could help them and how a relationship/ partnership might look I would love some feed back on this is it possible will it help us to build trust with potential clients (which is diffucult for a new biz in this industry) how would you lay it out would it be a usefull resource for other seo companies etc thanks so much seo mozzers this forum is awsome and i know you will steer me in the right direction oh ps this would be something we would keep on our site

Confusion on schema.org
I have begun marking up the site for schema.org and Google has now begun indexing those pages with a weird result. Instead of using meta description in search it is using the ALT text from an item marged as ImageProp="image". I was hoping it would display the picture not change my description. Any ideas?
