1000 of links on my website ? is it good or bad
-
Hi guys my site: www.dorchdanola-netbutik.dk is a e-commerce store, and generally we have many links on all pages because of the many products and categories.
Im not sure if this is actually bad or good? I've been told that it will definately harm my site when google crawls it. The thing is that google visit my site often and I still have good pageranks in google.
So does it actually harm my site having all these products and categories? And what can I do about it if google see every page as duplicate content?
I also link to my social pages like FB, G+, e.g. Should I put rel="nofollow" or rel="me" on these social links?
Thanks guys!

Hi Anders,
I would expect that Google would see and understand the jquery menu links. They've been able to find links in simple Jscript for several years now, and certainly jquery is one of the most common libraries out there, so I'd be surprised if they're not already all over that.

Hey Michael,
Thank you very much for the answer and your time for taking a look on my site. The thing is, I nearly cant cut down the menu more down. Without the submenues customers would have to skim through lots of products on each single page. So the current structure is more userfriendly.
Would it be better to have a jquery menu that shows the categories when getting the mouse over? Something like on amazon.co.uk ?
I know that my site lacks of low content on site and it will be something I will focus on from next month.
Thanks alot for the reply

You've definitely got a lot of links in there in your navigation, but I don't think it's really going to hurt you. It's doing to distribute link juice pretty evenly across all of the pages linked to from that left-hand menu and the submenus.
You MIGHT consider reducing the left menu to just the main categories, and NOT including all of the submenus. That would funnel a fair bit more link juice to the main categories, and the submenus I'm guessing are all pretty long-tail anyway, so they shouldn't need as much.
I don't see a duplicate content problem here. I'm seeing different content on every page. You might consider putting noindex/follow on some of the intermediate pages that merely list subcategories, like this one:
http://dorchdanola-netbutik.dk/category/belysning-el-artikler-485/
These kinds of pages will be seen as extremely content-light...and that's not so good.
I wouldn't nofollow your social media links. And rel=me mostly you use to link an author page back to your G+ profile, so I wouldn't use that here.

Links from my Own Blog to my Own Website and Link Scheme
Hi There, I use my own blog to give advices and offer information related to my business service. Of course in terms of SEO my blog is useful not only to expand my brand presence but also to acquire long-tail traffic. I use to insert a maximum of one link with a relative matching anchor text in every article of my blog pointing to my own webpage. Said that, the questions are as follows: Am I involuntarily participating in a Link Scheme with my blog? And If so, how many links can I send to my own webpage ? Shall I limit the number of links to a minimum? Thanks a lot for your advices.

When pitching a whitepaper as Push Content for Link Building, is it ok to give the person I'm pitching a link to a landing page with a form on it?
When pitching a whitepaper as Push Content for Link Building (i.e. pushing out content that my client has created), is it ok to give the person I'm pitching a link to a landing page with a form on it? Or should I create a landing page with the whitepaper included on it? I’m not sure if the client will be ok with this b/c I know they use the whitepaper for sales purposes to gain leads. For example, my pitch email would include a line such as this, "the whitepaper can be found at LINK and I'd love if you could share it with your readers." I think it may be weird/a little wrong to ask a webmaster to include a link on his site to a landing page with a form to get the whitepaper. Does this make sense? What have others done with whitepapers as Push Content for link building?

When good domain names go bad
We have created a website to distribute a niche product. About a year ago, another vendor decided to drop the product and did not renew their domain name. We tried to acquire the domain name, but a cyber squatter picked it up. The old domain name had a few decent back links, and there was probably some value to us with a 301, but the cyber squatter was asking $8,000 and we didn't even bother countering such an absurd figure. The old domain continued to rank reasonably well for one or our search terms, even though it was just one page of spammy links. Well, this week it appears that Google Panda may have finally killed it off. Which brings me to a couple of questions. 1. In addition to a simple Google search, is there a way to determine if Google has killed a domain? 2. Assuming that Google has indeed killed the domain, is there any value in trying to 301 the domain should it ever be released? Best,

Good link building companies
I'm wondering if anyone has had good experiences with any of the link building companies out there. I'm really looking to hear about those companies who go beyond the mundane forum links, blog commenting, bulk directory submission, article directories etc. It's all been done to death. I've used webuildpages.com, they are pricey, but are good at getting high quailty links.

If I write a PR release on a site such as PRweb with anchor-text links that is picked up and published by other news sites, do the engines consider this duplicate content or additional, beneficial links?
I recently wrote a news release on PRweb that was picked up identically by 8 other news websites, with the same anchor-text links as the original. Is the reproduction of duplicate content and links across different websites like this to the benefit or detriment of SEO and ranking power? Some of the links are: http://www.mynewsdesk.com/uk/view/pressrelease/eventa-new-eventa-christmas-parties-website-is-launched-648923?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=Alert&utm_content=pressrelease http://www.prweb.com/releases/christmasparties/neweventasite/prweb8562064.htm Many thanks!!

How do you find out what (and when) new websites are linking to your site?
I may be missing the obvious here, but is there any way (a programme or site) of seeing what new links come into your site? Obviously as anyone who works in SEO, I like to see which links we have got with the work we put in contacting webmasters, etc. But is there a better way than just manually looking through ALL the links? Any help will appreciated.
