I have subscribed to Majestic SEO for three years and am considering cancelling it as it cost $600/year.

Is this a false economy? Will I be losing essential data? Also, MOZ seems really deficient in the link tracking department. Its data seems plain wrong, showing far fewer domains pointing at my site than either Google Webmaster Tools or Majestic SEO.

If I get rid of Majestic SEO are there any free/low cost tools that could take it's place?

      Thanks, Alan

After going through free trials on over a dozen SEO/SEM tools we've settled on the following:

        Moz: Backlinks, Keyword Tracking

        Swydo:Client PPC Reporting

        SEM Rush: Keyword

Keywordtool.io: Google Auto-Complete keyword data (and it's Free!)

And we're tempted by SpyFu premium, but rely on the free version right

We are also looking for ways to weed out extra expenses but at the end of the day we want quality tools. So we have decided that the following three tools was the best way to go for our company.

          Moz
          Keyword Spy
          SEM Rush

          Malcom Chakery

When I first started SEO there were 3 big guns in three search marketing world.

            • Majestic for Backlinks.
            • Mox for SEO
            • SEMRush for SEM

I still think those 3 are they best in their realm, and with an unlimited budget, I would pay for all 3. But I don't have an unlimited budget, and I to had to pick just one, so I set out to do some research like you did. Upon further review, I did found that someone actually basically did the baclkink study for me!

            http://www.analyticsseo.com/blog/link-data-research-majestic-seo-moz-linkscape-ahrefs-part-2/

They all have their pro's and con's, but for me, Moz seemed to be the best bet. I looked at is as an investment. I felt that in the long run, the quality of links that Moz were finding was more important than the extra links that Ahrefs or Majestic were finding. My second thought was that as all these companies grow, Moz, seemed adapting to the needs of modern SEO better than the other companies. So after weighing the pro's and con's I figured it was worth it and would only be a matter of time before Moz's backlink tool was more powerful, or would outshine the others simply because of efficacy.

            So far, I am pleased.

As I said, with an unlimited budget, I would have all 3 programs. Moz, SEMRush, & Majestic. I can't, so I choose Moz, any day.

            Hope that helps.

              SEO on dynamic website

Hi. I am hoping you can advise. I have a client in one of my training groups and their site is a golf booking engine where all pages are dynamically created based on parameters used in their website search. They want to know what is the best thing to do for SEO. They have some landing pages that Google can see but there is only a small bit of text at the top and the rest of the page is dynamically created. I have advised that they should create landing pages for each of their locations and clubs and use canonicals to handle what Google indexes. Is this the right advice or should they noindex? Thanks S

Does Navigation Bar have an effect on the link juice and the number of internal links?

Hi Moz community, I am getting the "Avoid Too Many Internal Links" error from Moz for most of my pages and Google declared the max number as 100 internal links. However, most of my pages can't have internal links less than 100, since it is a commercial website and there are many categories that I have to show to my visitors by using the drop down navigation bar. Without counting the links in the navigation bar, the number of internal links is below 100. I am wondering if the navigation bar links affect the link juice and counted as internal links by Google. The Same question also applies to the links in the footer. Additionally, how about the products? I have hundreds of products in the category pages and even though I use pagination I still have many links in the category pages (probably more than 100 without even counting the navigation bar links). Does Google count the product links as internal links and how about the effect on the link juice? Here is the website if you want to take a look: http://www.goldstore.com.tr Thank you for your answers.

Do I have to many internal links which is diluting link juice to less important pages

Hello Mozzers, I was looking at my homepage and subsequent category landing pages on my on my eCommerce site and wondered whether I have to many internal links which could in effect be diluting link juice to much of the pages I need it to flow. My homepage has 266 links of which 114 (43%) are duplicate links which seems a bit to much to me. One of my major competitors who is a national company has just launched a new site design and they are only showing popular categories on their home page although all categories are accessible from the menu navigation. They only have 123 links on their home page. I am wondering whether If I was to not show every category on my homepage as some of them we don't really have any sales from and only concerntrate on popular ones there like my competitors , then the link juice flowing downwards in the site would be concerntated as I would have less links for them to flow ?... Is that basically how it works ? Is there any negatives with regards to duplicate links on either home or category landing page. We are showing both the categories as visual boxes to select and they are also as selectable links on the left of a page ? Just wondered how duplicate links would be treated? Any thoughts greatly appreciated thanks Pete

How to track mentions with links using Mentions App

We have a large client that we've just taken on board for organic search marketing. A great client that continually gets links from the BBC, NY Times etc which actually takes care of having to do any marketing for them. However, they get 10-15 unlinked mentions per day. Just recently, they peaked at 32 mentions in one day from JUST websites. But I need a quick way to filter these out and check if there is a link pointing to their website. I want to be able to build up a list of opportunities without having to manually check each website. How do, Mozzlars!?

              Is CloudFlare bad for SEO?

I have been hit by DDoS attacks lately...not on a huge scale, but probably done by some "script kiddies" or competitors of mine. Still, I need to take some action in order to protect my server and my site against all of this spam traffic that is being sent to it. In the process of researching the tools available for defending a website from a DDoS attack, I came across the service offered by CloudFlare.com. According to the CloudFlare website, they protect your site against a DDoS attack by showing users/visitors they find suspicious an interstitial that asks them if they are a real user or a bot...this interstitial contains a Captcha that suspicious users are asked to enter in order to visit the site. I'm just wondering what kind of an effect such an interstitial could have on my Google rankings...I can imagine that such a thing could add to increased click-backs to the SERPs and, if Google detects this, to lower rankings. Has anyone had experience with the DDoS protection services offered by CloudFlare, who can say a word or two regarding any effects this may have on SEO? Thanks

              Link Age as SEO factor?

              Hi Guys
I have a client who ranks well within a competitive sector of the travel industry. They are planning CMS move which will involve changing from .cfm to .aspx We will be doing the standard redirects etc However Matt's statement here on 301 redirects got me thinking
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW5UL3lzBOA&t=0m24s He says that basically you loose a bit of page rank when you do a 301 redirect. Now, we will be potentially redirecting 1000s of links and my thinking is 'a lot of a little, adds up to a lot'  In other words, 1000s of redirects may have a big enough impact to loose some rankings in a very competitive and aggressive space. So recommended that we contact the sites who has the link highest value and ask them to manually change the links from cfm to aspx. This will then mean that there are no loss value as with a 301 redirect. -But now I have another dilemma which I'm unsure about. So the main question:
Is link age factor in rankings ? If I  update any links, this will make said link new to Google, so if link age is a factor, would this also lessen the value passed initially?

Increasing Internal Links But Avoiding a Link Farm

I'm looking to create a page about Widgets and all of the more specific names for Widgets we sell: ABC Brand Widgets, XYZ Brand Widgets, Big Widgets, Small Widgets, Green Widgets, Blue Widgets, etc. I'd like my Widget page to give a brief explanation about each kind of Widget with a link deeper into my site that gives more detail and allows you to purchase. The problem is I have a lot of Widgets and this could get messy: ABC Green Widgets, Small XYZ Widgets, many combinations. I can see my Widget page teetering on being a link farm if I start throwing in all of these combos. So where should I stop? How much do I do? I've read more than 100 links on a page being considered a link farm, is that a hardline number or a general guideline?
