Is there a recommended format when placing a business address on a webpage?
-
Hi All,
I ask the question as I was trying to GeoTarget tool which happened to not recognise a business address I place in the footer on one of my sites.
The tool states that including the address on page helps the search engines identify your location, so I'm curious whether a specific format works best when optimizing for local search?
Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. The site is for a law firm so yes, most clients visit the office. So I will stylise a vCard formatted address and placing it high up as suggested.
Then will see if the geotarget tool picks it up..
@David - the tool is the seomoz tool : http://www.seomoz.org/geotarget

I follow the format in google places, but i would think SE's ae smart enouth to pick up most addresses

micro formats are recommended. Top of site if possible. I like to place full add in the contact us Title : )

I don't agree with David but he might know better.
In my opinion you should use the less relevant real estate of the site/pages - footer will be just great for both users and Google (to spot it on every page).
However this is just an opinion but I am sure the placement of the address within the site or a particular page is not "more relevant" for google depending on the position. It just needs to be present.
Hope it helps.

All I could really say is the higher up the better. However, it depends upon the context of the website.
If you are trying to run a local directory site, it's ideal if you have the location/info/image and relevant information as high as possible.
If it's a website and you have footer information with your business address, that is perfectly fine.
What GeoTarget tool are you using?

Google+ Local Business Page not appearing
I have a local verified google + listing and recently just went to update it nicely. even though it has been around for months, however Google just can't seem to index it, does anybody know the reason why? I have tried " hard-searching" for it and it is not even indexed! However if i find hard enough, it will appear in google maps, and also my domain has been around for months, if not a year however under Moz Open Site explorer it indicates it is a super new domain and even alexa is not recognizing any data even though it has traffic. The only thing i have done is i have shifted servers two months ago. Does that translate to a new site? I hope not...

How well is your Internet marketing working for your business?
Not asking about specifics of money, but this is just a general question to see what kind of return people get for their Internet marketing time investment.. I would say I'm getting over 40,000 hits per year for one business which is holiday cottages but I only own one cottage and act as an agent for three other clients. Because the campaign is working well for me at the moment I get probably 95% occupancy throughout the year, which you would have no chance of accomplishing without SEO intensive input. If I had to pay £0.50 a click approximately obviously it wouldn't be worthwhile, especially when you realise that a percentage of the traffic and not related to your product. I also have a second business which is installing wireless security alarms over the Internet and once again approximate traffic at the moment is almost approaching 40,000 again per year. Now I'm sure there are some big hitters out but my general question is how productive, is you're organic results and Internet marketing for your personal business in comparison to what it would cost you if you had to pay per click? I'm kind of wondering how well the Internet is working people on this forum for their particular businesses? Good, Bad ? whats your story ? Cheers alan

Where is the best place to add links on my site?
If I'd like to put links to other sites in my site, is it better to have a page named "Our Helpful Links" etc. instead of just adding them to the bottom of an existing page like I've seen on some sites? I'm asking because I'm wanting to make Google as happy as possible and still add them. Just in case it helps to look at the site yourself to give advise its; http://www.allstatetransmission.net If you see anything else there that I should work on feel free to be hard on it, I value any criticism. Thanks, Jeff

How long has the keyword difficulty tool had these limits in place?
While working against a tight deadline, I was surprised to see the following message: "We're sorry. Currently we are only able to offer results for 300 keywords per user per day. Please come back tomorrow" How long has this limit been in place and is the limit listed anywhere during the signup process? I rarely use this tool for more than 10-20 keywords at a time, so I have not run into this issue before.
