Error 403
-
I'm getting this message "We were unable to grade that page. We received a response code of 403. URL content not parseable" when using the On-Page Report Card. Does anyone know how to go about fixing this? I feel like I've tried everything.

I am getting 403 errors for this crazy url:
How do I get rid of this error?
I am also getting 404 errors for pages that do not exist anymore. How do I get rid of those?

Great answers Mike!
Jessica, if you're still having issues with the Crawl Test and it seems like a tool issue, let us know at help@seomoz.org - you'll get a faster response from our Help Team for your tool questions that way (unless, of course, a mozzer like Mike beats us to it!)

I will check that out. Thank you so much!

Is there another folder on your server called resources? If so that maybe the problem. See this thread...
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/suddenly-getting-403-forbiden-error-on-one-page-only
I did run Xenu on your site and experienced the 403 error on that page only. There were other 404s that need to be fixed as well FYI,,,

Jessica,
Is the page(s) in question indexed by Google? I
I would recommend trying another site crawl tool like Xenu Link Sleuth, GSiteCrawler and see if they are able to crawl the site without issue. Could also be something to do with your hosting company trying to prevent Denial of Service (DOS) attacks... If you want to send me the URL I am happy to crawl it for you with one of these tools.
-
It is actually wordpress. Everything looks fine when visiting the URL and inside the wordpress but when I grade the SEO content it gives me the 403 error.
It happened after I added the SEO text to a page that had images within the same text box. Does that make a difference?
-
seems like your website is blocking access to the file. A few questions:
1. Are you blocking robots in your txt file from this url?
2. Do you get the 403 erri when you manually visit the page?
3. What CMS if any are you using? If it is Joomla we've seen some strange things happen with some of the security modules when using crawl tools such as GSiteCrawler.

Htaccess and robots.txt and 902 error
Hi this is my first question in here I truly hope someone will be able to help. It's quite a detailed problem and I'd love to be able to fix it through your kind help. It regards htaccess files and robot.txt files and 902 errors. In October I created a WordPress website from what was previously a non-WordPress site it was quite dated. I had built the new site on a sub-domain I created on the existing site so that the live site could remain live whilst I created on the subdomain. The site I built on the subdomain is now live but I am concerned about the existence of the old htaccess files and robots txt files and wonder if I should just delete the old ones to leave the just the new on the new site. I created new htaccess and robots.txt files on the new site and have left the old htaccess files there. Just to mention that all the old content files are still sat on the server under a folder called 'old files' so I am assuming that these aren't affecting matters. I access the htaccess and robots.txt files by clicking on 'public html' via ftp I did a Moz crawl and was astonished to 902 network error saying that it wasn't possible to crawl the site, but then I was alerted by Moz later on to say that the report was ready..I see 641 crawl errors ( 449 medium priority | 192 high priority | Zero low priority ). Please see attached image. Each of the errors seems to have status code 200; this seems to be applying to mainly the images on each of the pages: eg domain.com/imagename . The new website is built around the 907 Theme which has some page sections on the home page, and parallax sections on the home page and throughout the site. To my knowledge the content and the images on the pages are not duplicated because I have made each page as unique and original as possible. The report says 190 pages have been duplicated so I have no clue how this can be or how to approach fixing this. Since October when the new site was launched, approx 50% of incoming traffic has dropped off at the home page and that is still the case, but the site still continues to get new traffic according to Google Analytics statistics. However Bing Yahoo and Google show a low level of Indexing and exposure which may be indicative of the search engines having difficulty crawling the site. In Google Analytics in Webmaster Tools, the screen text reports no crawl errors. W3TC is a WordPress caching plugin which I installed just a few days ago to speed up page speed, so I am not querying anything here about W3TC unless someone spots that this might be a problem, but like I said there have been problems re traffic dropping off when visitors arrive on the home page. The Yoast SEO plugin is being used. I have included information about the htaccess and robots.txt files below. The pages on the subdomain are pointing to the live domain as has been explained to me by the person who did the site migration. I'd like the site to be free from pages and files that shouldn't be there and I feel that the site needs a clean up as well as knowing if the robots.txt and htaccess files that are included in the old site should actually be there or if they should be deleted... ok here goes with the information in the files. Site 1) refers to the current website. Site 2) refers to the subdomain. Site 3 refers to the folder that contains all the old files from the old non-WordPress file structure. **************** 1) htaccess on the current site: ********************* BEGIN W3TC Browser Cache <ifmodule mod_deflate.c=""><ifmodule mod_headers.c="">Header append Vary User-Agent env=!dont-vary</ifmodule>

Spike in 4xx Client Error After Theme Change
There is a huge Spike in 4xx Client Error after new Wordpress Theme Change. Report shows URL that doesn't exist in the Referral Page. Missing URL (404) - http://www.happyschoolsblog.com/gre-test-dates-2011/happyschools/ Referral - http://www.happyschoolsblog.com/gre-test-dates-2011/ Likewise there are over 4000 errors (4xx) with happyschools appended to the URL. I'm not sure how to fix the those errors. Thanks.

When I did my first crawl, I was given some errors.
Do I then need to re-crawl to make sure the errors were fixed accordingly?

Duplicate pages with canonical links still show as errors
On our CMS, there are duplicate pages such as /news, /news/, /news?page=1, /news/?page=1. From an SEO perspective, I'm not too worried, because I guess Google is pretty capable of sorting this out, but to be on the safe side, I've added canonical links. /news itself has no link, but all the other variants have links to "/news". (And if you go wild and add a bunch of random meaningless parameters, creating /news/?page=1&jim=jam&foo=bar&this=that, we will laugh at you and generate a canonical link back to "/news". We're clever like that.) So far so good. And everything appears to work fine. But SEOMoz is still flagging up errors about duplicate titles and duplicate content. If you click in, you'll see a "Note" on each error, showing that SEOMoz has found the canonical link. So SEOMoz knows the duplication isn't a problem, as we're using canonical links exactly the way they're supposed to be used, and yet is still flagging it as an error. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is it just a bug in SEOMoz?

Crawl went from a few errors to thousands when I added Blog
I am new here. I recently got the errors from SEOmoz crawl on my site down to just a handful from a couple hundred. So I took the leap and moved my blog to www.mysitename.com/blog (which I see recommended here) and now my errors are in the thousands. My blog which was a separate url has pages back to 2007. I am not sure if it is appropriate to post my site url in a question here? One error that really stands out is this: Description <dd>Using rel=canonical suggests to search engines which URL should be seen as canonical.</dd> On my root page I have: rel="canonical" href="http://www.mysitename.com"/> Thanks for any help...

Historical error info on SEOMoz?
Is it possible to get a report of errors that were on a site back in April? Does SEOMoz keep that data available? There was a big decline in the number of errors on one of my sites and I'm trying to go back and see what it was. --Steve
