My nofollow link is showing as a 302\. Is this OK?

My nofollow link is showing as a 302. Is this OK? Not looking to pass any juice along but don't want to be penalized either.

So in these two situations if a nofollow was needed would you use a 302 redirect?

Good point Alan on the paid links. Adding the nofollow would be following Google guidelines and there is risk in not following this.

sure, it would be defeating the purpose. But here's the thing. You either follow Google guidelines for paid links, or you risk the penalty they impose. It's a risk/reward issue. So you need to choose.
Since I only recommend SEO best practices that involve the least amount of risk, I recommend that you don't accept paid links in the first place. but if you do, put nofollow in them.
As for sculpting links, I've personally never advocated spending time trying to sculpt. You could spend hundreds of hours trying different arrangements and not ever know if you've made a positive difference, or if something else in the hundreds of search factors changed that day.

OK Alan you are saying that if you put a link on your site that it would be a standard link but if another site paid you for a link that you would use a nofollow? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of what they would be looking for if they paid for a link from your site. Not trying to be difficult just trying to understand. The 302 was set by the owner/developer of the site. In the case of internal linking linking lets say your page has way over a hundred internal links and you want to thin them out and sculpt the ranking of the pages. What would you use.

Ok - no actually. 302 redirects should only be set up by the owner of the site that maintains the page.
If you want to put links on YOUR site pointing to someone else's, make it a regular link but with the "nofollow" attribute if they're paid links. If you're just linking to other sites because the link connects their related content to yours and you want to offer that additional information, don't do the "nofollow" or redirects.
Your own links within your site pointing to your own pages should be regular links, no redirects, no use of the "nofollow" attribute.

The nofollow was put in on a out going external link from the site i am working on shows up as a 302. Is this the best way to approach a nofollow for external links? And would this be the best way for internal links within the site also?

Good point Theo - we definitely need more info here. I had assumed it was a case where Jeremy was just talking about a link he's got to another site - a regular link to a regular page, but where the site owner has somehow gotten a 302 going on that page.

Not necessarily entirely 'their issue', because if Jeremy is linking with a 302 redirect without wanting to do so, this issue might occur on more places across his website.
To expand on the question by Alan: is this (1) an internal link between two pages on your website, (2) an external link from your website to another website or (3) a link from another website to your website?

Do you mean a link you have on your site pointing to someone else's site? If so, that's their issue and should not negatively affect your site or rankings.

Too much internal linking?
Hi everyone, Too much of anything is not good. In terms of internal linking, how many are too many? I read that the recommended internal links are about 100 links per page otherwise it dilutes the page's link equity. I have a concern about one of our websites - according to search console, the homepage has 923 internal links. All the pages have a corresponding /feed page added to the page URL, which is really weird (is this caused by a plugin?). The site also has an e-com feature, but it is not used as the site is essentially a brochure and customers are encouraged to visit the shop. I assume the e-com feature also increases this number. On the other hand, one of the competitors we are tracking has 1 internal link site-wide. Ours is at 45,000 site-wide. How is it possible to only have 1 internal link? Is this a Moz bug? I know we also need to reduce our internal links badly, however, I'm not sure where to start. I don't know how these internal links are linked together - some aren't in the copy or navigation menu. When I scan the homepage links using 'check my links', the total links identified for the homepage is only 170. kAeYlTM

Review markup not showing up in SERP anymore
Hi all, I have been collecting reviews for a little while now. Ofcourse im hoping to cross the 150 reviews border soon 🙂 But i also added the review markup to my website to show up in organic results. This was working fine for a while. I did not added the markup to my homepage. But now for somehow google is not showing this review markup anymore in search results. So i decided to give the company that is hosting the review tool (google partner also) a call. The informed me that they had a lot of calls and e-mails since 2 weeks from their customers. All with the same problem that review markup is not used in search results anymore. Anyone else had this, or know about this issue?

Link in H1 tag?
Hi guys, We're working through a redesign of our product page and are considering the following: http://screencast.com/t/NBSsDGA9vgS3 Currently the product name (including the brand name - Arc'teryx) in this case is included in the H1 and none of the title is linked. You can see this here: http://www.evo.com/synthetic-jackets/arcteryx-atom-lt-hoodie-womens.aspx The firm we're working with is proposing keeping the entire title in the H1 but linking the brand name to the entire brand assortment. My concern is that the brand name is a critical part of the product title and should be text (not a link). Any suggestions? Thanks!

Redirecting deleted posts 301 vs 302
There is a category on WP where job ads are posted. when a post got deleted I would like to pass 404 error page and redirect all those deleted posts to specific category. I found WP plugin Auto Redirect 404 in 301 for Trashed Posts which does redirect deleted post to specific URL. But posts which are in the trash (not permanently deleted) will get 302 redirects. Those deleted permanently will get 301 redirects. Should I try editing this plugin or find another why? Maybe there is similar way with Redirection plugin?

Best way to nofollow affiliate links?
I don't "nofollow" affiliate links but I have quite a few. Doing them one by one would just be an impossible job. Would it be best to get a plugin that nofollows EVERYTHING? What would google prefer? I need to DOFOLLOW some links because those sites deserve it.

How do I PERMANENTLY change an incorrect URL link with one of my keywords?
Hello, I received an “F” grade on my on-page report for one of my keywords. I noticed that the URL linked with that keyword was wrong. After changing it to the correct URL, I received an “A.” However, the change was not permanent. How do I permanently change the URL? I don’t see any “Save Changes” or “Apply Changes” button anywhere. Thank you!
