I blog for hotels and I am wondering whether it is best to have on a wordpress tagline the name of the hotel such as Holiday Inn and Suites vs Holiday Inn & Suites. In Google AdWords, the "and" keyword always beats out the "&" word in exact search. The "&" just always looks cleaner. Also, when I refer to the hotel within a blog post, should I use the "and" or "&" in the name? Please help me understand which is best for seo.

      Thank you!

Great question, but Ryan and de4e pretty much covered it.

Also keep in mind that the ampersand symbol can also be interpreted as & and that may hurt you. It may be that focusing JUST on Holiday Inn versus the others will no doubt provide the best return.

Always remember that you are writing to the general public and most of them or us 😄 tend to use short layman terms so that renders the "and Suites" somewhat obsolete.

        Cheers!

Unless your client specifically requests (or rather demands) to be referred to by their complete name I would suggest simply using "Holiday Inn". Google's KeyWord tool shows the following traffic for the terms:

          Holiday Inn and Suites - 1900 searches/month

          Holiday Inn & Suites - 590 searches/month

          Holiday Inn - 1 million searches/month

By adding "and Suites" or "& Suites" you are diluting your main focus "Holiday Inn". Literally 99.9% of your traffic is from "Holiday Inn". I would highly recommend dropping the rest. If you have to include it, I would use the text "and" version. Not only does it have more exact matches but when converting the text to a URL software will often replace the & symbol with the letter "a". Holiday Inn & Suites becomes /holiday-inn-a-suites which is less desirable.

There are both stop words, and most SE's ignore them. they apply in SERP only if you search exactly "and".

So (Holiday Inn and Suites)=(Holiday Inn & Suites) , but if they search ("Holiday Inn and Suites ")  he find only page with exactly phrase.

              Q&A Page Titles

Hello All! I am currently updating page titles and metadata descriptions for a websites Q&A section and have run in to a problem while updating page titles.  Since it is the Q&A section of the website, all of the page titles are around 100 characters and some are up to 200 characters long.  Here is an example: Page Title:  My child is working below grade level in math. Do I have to purchase the curriculum from the grade below as well? The problem is that this is obviously too long for a SERP to display however I know it is best practice to have matching titles on both the title tag and page title.  My question is what hurts SEO value more:  the title tag and title of the page not matching or having a very long title displayed on the SERP?

My target keyword is "moringa powder" but my product title is "moringa ultimate original powder". Is this a problem?

The focus keyword is "moringa powder". The product title and default H1 tag is "moringa ultimate original powder". The url also has "moringa ultimate original powder". Yoast is saying the keyword does not appear in the url or any subheadings. So should I change the product title and url to Original Ultimate moringa powder or is having them separated ok? https://greenvirginproducts.com/product/moringa/150-gram-moringa-ultimate-original-powder/ Thanks

Page Title & Meta Description Getting Cut Off In The SERPs

Hi Guys, I am trying to figure out why my page titles and meta d tags are getting cut off in Goofle SERPS. My page titles are 70 characters or under (including spaces) and my meta Dd's are 155 characters or under (including spaces) so I cannot work out why They are getting cut off. Is there something I have missed?! Thanks, Meaghan

Wordpress & trailing slash on domain name

Hi recently changed my site so it is based on Wordpress, got my preferred domain set in Google webmaster as www.domian.co.uk but since moving to wordpress my domain is now having a slash put on the end of it like www.domain.co.uk/ Most of the links going to my homepage do not have the slash on the end so am I right in thinking I should get rid of the slash from my site so I have one consistent url? If so any ideas how to banish the slash? Cannot seem to do it through the Wordpress general settings (despite preferred domain being set as www.domain.co.uk !) Thanks T

              Does page "depth" matter

Would it have a negative effect on SEO to have a link from the home page to this page... http://www.website/com/page1deep/page2deep rather than to this page http://www.website/com/page1deep I'm hoping that made some sense. If not I'll try to clarify. Thanks, Mark

What does the "base href" meta tag do? For SEO and webdesign?

I have encounter the "base href" on one of my sites.  The tag is on every page and always points to the home URL.

SEO value of "in the news" links on home page?

Notice more sites have an "in the News" section on the home page, or something similar like press releases... Apart from providing users fresh content, is there an SEO value to this?  What is the explanation for this? Have a feeling the answer is obvious but just not too sure Thanks a lot.
