If someone misspells our company name in Google, how do I get google to display
**Did You Mean: **xyz.
Our company name is difficult to spell and could be spelled multiple ways. What is the trick to this?
-
I believe the 'Did you mean' results are triggered by common misspellings, I don't think it would be feasible to manipulate it to correct the spelling of a small business name.
-
"Google uses spell checking software to check queries against common spellings of each word. When we determine an alternative query that we think might improve the search results, you'll see "Did you mean: (more common spelling)" at the top of your search results page. For example, if you search for [ foot ball ], at the top of the search results page, you'll see "Did you mean: football," a more common spelling of the game's name. Please note that our spell check feature is completely automated, and we cannot make manual changes to individual queries."

So I would say in the case of Businesses, it is still algo based, (no manual interaction available) and predictive based on search volume and alternate queries available in predictive algo and spell check software?

Search results vary in chrome vs other browsers even in Incognito mode: Google's stand?
Hi all, We use incognito mode or private browsing to check the Actual results which are not impacted by previous history, location (sometimes), etc. Even we browse this way, we can see the different search results. Why would this happen? What's Google's stand on this? What is the actual way to browse to get the unbiased results for certain search queries? I have experienced that Chrome will rank our own websites bit higher compared to the other browsers even in incognito mode. Thanks

Updating the Google Knowledge Graph....any hard answers on how to do this?
We are trying to update the Google Knowledge graph for one our clients. We would like to have company founding date, CEO's name and founder name in the knowledge graph. This information is already included in their wikipedia entry. Where else can we make changes to update this knowledge graph? Is their structured data option for founding dates, CEO/founder names? Should we include this information in their Google+ profile? We are using the publisher tag. We are not sure how to update the freebase account.

How Popular is Google Image Search?
Are there any stats on the volume of searches through Google's Image Search? My assumption is that more users are turning to image search to shop but I haven't found any supporting data. I know that click-throughs to site have fallen after Google's recent changes to the UI but still just interested in initial search volume.

Appearing in Universal Results drops us from Organic Results
Hi all, Has anyone noticed that achieving an appearance in the Universal Results (7 box) forced their previous organic ranking to drop out completely for that keyword? I thought Google would still show us in Universal AND Organic. Is this typical? Here's what happened: Last Week: Ranked no. 6 in standard organic results for specific keyword (but 7 box universal results appear ahead of us between position 3 and 4 and we're not listed) This Week: We added ourselves to Google Places a few weeks ago and this week we suddenly appear in the desirable 7 box Universal result, which is much higher and better ranking - great! But interestingly we notice at the same time our normal organic ranking at no.6 has dropped out completely (-50 in moztool). Is it an either/or for Organic vs. Universal or can you ever keep ranking in both?

Google Places Citation Differences
Hi All... I know its important to get citations the same in terms of company name, address, phone number and URL but how dissimilar can they be before this causes problems with Google Places? One of my clients has citations with very minor differences to the correct address i.e.: 2a such and such a road when it should be: 2 such and such a road I cannot see duplicate listing for the company. Anyone got any ideas / experience of this? I don't want to suggest changing them all if its not nessasary? Cheers in advance. Justin

Searching google without bias
i read a tip once and can't find the reference to that tip. It had to do with searching google without including the history of your searches to bias the result. The user was suppose to put a code at the end of the URL, like &pw or something like that. Anyone hear of this?

I've noticed a lot of backlinks to sites consist of SERPS from other search engines that Google. A link to a query like: http://searcheninge.com/?q=apple for instance. Does Google index these links and do they give any value? Regards, Henrik
