Top 20 sites for backlinking

My security jobs website was doing very well in Search engines until the penguin got hold of me. I don't profess to be at pro at SEO however seem to have a knack of getting sites to rank well. I think I made some basic mistakes with the original security jobs website, to many links to soon, so I have started again and will build up slowly the backlinks quality rather than quantity this time. My questions is what are the top 20 or so sites that are good to backlink from?

FYI, your keyword targeted link is a nofollow link, as are all hyperlinks in Q&A and blog comments on SEOmoz.

Think of it this way, strike up real relationships with people so that if a new update hits and all of your work is undone (doubtful) again you"ll have people who are in the same boat and will be there to work with you.
Major PR website's were devalued by Penguin anyway.

"Top 20 sites" is a false dichotomy. Top 20 sites is not the "best of the best" but rather, what is best for you, in your location, in your industry.
So how would you go about link building in this way?
- Personally I would start blogging about the sate of security jobs in the UK.
- In order to obtain links, find security sites that have a blog in your industry, but who aren't direct competitors. and get to know the site's owner.
- After becoming chums, ask them if you can do a blog post on their site. In the blog post mention a couple of things visitors may want to check out on your site to help them, and link to those things.
That's pretty much it. content marketing is the thing. Add value and be an authority in your industry, so that when Google slaps down another penalty you'll be the one rising to the top, not getting penalized for "artificial" links.

HI Team and members We have website related to jobs in Pakistan and we purchased 5 niche edits backlinks to a specific page " MES Jobs 2021" In ahrefs it show only 2 backlinks to that page but in moz 0 backlinks but in actually there are 5 links. Backlink Transparency with SEO Agency
Hello everyone. I recently started working with an SEO agency and today they gave me an updated keyword report which showed some increase in rankings. I was not aware that any backlinks had been created yet so I asked for a report of the links. We don't reveal all backlink sources unfortunately because people have tried to bother the webmasters we have and basically steal our techniques. Hi All, I post coupons on coupon sites a month ago and when I checked backlinks of my website I saw approx 1000 links coming from coupon sites on my Brand Name. IMO it is quite natural please share your views. *All the big brands listed on that coupon sites e.g amazon, dell etc Thanks

Don't know if this has been answered in another post, but what happens to backlinks that requires users to subscribe and/or pay to view the content with the backlink on it?

Hi, we are trying to improve on the number of links to our website. A supplier has added a PDF file which is case study to their website. In the PDF it has a link to our website, will this count as a link or not? Thanks

Adding backlinks in old articles?
I am trying to get a few more links to get a few of my pages to rank and I am thinking about adding some more backlinks on my own site on some of the old blog articles as well as some of my other related blogs. My question is - is it still beneficial to link from these articles that are say 1 year old or more, or would it be far more valuable to write new articles on the blog containing those same links?
