Best place for a blog blog.mydomain.com or mydomain.com/blog
-
We have used blogs on a good number of client sites and always got good results from having them.
However do you feel its best to have a blog as a subdomain or included in the site
ie
-
So if my site is within a week old, I have 15 or so articles already published under the new site. I'm just trying to grasp this here. I think your saying I should have 1 subdomain for my blog and the main domain is the actual website?
-
Great answer by Robert - 100% agree.
This question has been asked a lot on SEOmoz, here's some previous examples:
-
I'm going to agree with the Noisey Little Monkey and Andy,
I answered a question similar to this a while back - check it out
The summary - Rand did a great article on this a while back- http://www.seomoz.org/blog/unders...
There are also multiple other questions of a similar nature.
http://www.seomoz.org/pages/searc...
General consensus is be sub-folder over sub-domain.
Main reason - Sub Folders get the benefits from the root domain, Sub Domains don't.
Here's the key take away from Rands article:
"1 subdomain under 1 root domain (but feel free to use subfolders as it makes sense). Starting a blog? I almost always recommend yoursite.com/blog over blog.yoursite.com. Want to launch a new section of content? Use yoursite.com/newstuff rather than newstuff.yoursite.com."
Hopefully this will have helped you make your mind up.
-
Absolutely agree - much easier for link juice to flow down the latter as well. Seeing less and less going for sub-domains now.
Directory structure all the way!
-
I'd go for the latter "mydomain.com/blog", then any links built to your awesome content will be on the same sub-domain as the rest of your content. Works wonders.

Best Practices for Recurring Blog Topics
Our site has annual articles (such as a payment calendar and an announcement of our annual conference). Is it better to keep all the old blog articles available and searchable, redirect them to the most current year's entry, or something else entirely? My instinct is to have a permanent redirect to the newest article.

Hi There, I have my main site : example.com and a related blog https://blog.example.com/ My management does not believe frequent content posting on the example.com My Queries 1- Will it help boost ranking of **example.com **if we share frequent content on our blog https://blog.example.com/? How much impact it has? 2- Every body says content is the king, Ok fine, but when you are not allowed to share it on the main corporate site, then where to share it? Blog and social media sites? please help. 3- We are in a business where clients do not bother to go on sites and read, so in this scenario is it correct to say that you hav to create the content for search engine consumption even when your clients dont need it/or have not in the habit of reading it? At what point to stop comments on a blog? Do too many comments hurt the page?
I have a page that's ranking pretty well, and driving sales. That page is starting to get 10+ comments per day and is starting to get quite long. I was wondering if there is a point where I should disable the comments? My gut tells me that people interacting with the page, and Google seeing responses with the users SHOULD be a good thing not bad. But, then I think that a majority of the content of the page is no longer the article, but the comments. All the comments are good, non spammy and directly related to the topic. People just asking questions, etc. Good engagement, I should be happy right?

2,500 Word blog post? What's your advice?
Most of my blog posts end up being 400-600 words, sometimes more, sometimes less. I have written one that is 2,500 words this time. If it were you, would you make one huge post, or split it into two or three? Or would you say it wholly depends on my site and the type of content? As far as link bait goes, one page is better . . . I guess. But would anyone ever read a 2,500 word blog post, even it it's about a subject he/she is interested in? Additionally, what's better for SEO? Just wants some second opinions. Thanks!

Wordpress Duplicate Pages/ URL's - Help !
Hi guys, I have been running SEOMoz for just over a month and slowly cleaning up one of my Wordpress Blogs. While going through the crawl reports I have noticed that I have duplicate pages showing on the crawl. For example, the main post would be; www.xxxxx.com/blog/post-title Then I see another URL which would be; **www.xxxx.com/blog/page/59 ** When I click on either URL it goes back to the actual post title URL. What's with these page URL's ? Isn't these two URL's showing duplicate content to the search engines ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
