Changing CMS, are there SEO effects?
-
We want to change our cms from typo3 to CMS made Simple. We have done this already for another site and it effected the rankings. Have you got experience with this? What factors are important for SEO to consider? Is it normal when you change from cms the rankings will drop?
-
Actaually TYPO3 is very simple if you set it up correctly. Aslo there are some really good SEO modules for TYPO3 like http://typo3.org/extensions/repository/view/tq_seo/current/
-
Changing the CMS itself will not cause a drop, but any actual changes to the content or structure of the pages may cause changes (good or bad).
As with Craig, I am no big fan of CMS Made Simple, have you thought about maybe migrating to one of the other open CMS platforms? Hard to advise without knowing your site and goals but WordPress can take some beating for most small business websites and Joomla! & Drupal provide options if you need more flexibility.
-
Yea I agree if everything is kept the same you shouldn't see much difference but you should expect a drop and prepare for this.
That said you need to ensure the new CMS is capable of accommodation the changes, again be well prepared.
If you intent to make changes then ensure you follow all the necessary steps and procedures that come with a site migration.
As it effected the ranking last time you can be sure it will happen again, you might want to ask yourself why your wanting to change content management systems and weight up the pros and cons, I have a site on CMSMS and I personally don't like it but each to their own
-
I think that if you keep the same [seo structure - url, title, h1, content, etc] you should not drop in rankings at all
Check this :

Conclusion is mirror your site especially with URLS so nobody will know you have a different cms -> you don't loose anything

SEO Problems with Loading to a Subfolder?
A client has a single page app website that shows https://example.com/example when you visit https://example.com . I don't think this is a redirect; I think it's a URL rewrite. My questions: Is this setup common with single page apps? What are the SEO benefits or drawbacks of having a domain's homepage load, rewrite, or redirect to a subfolder?

Do rss feeds help seo?
If we put relevant RSS feeds on a site, will it help the SEO value? Years ago, I shied away from RSS feeds because they slowed the site down and I didn't like relying on them. However, the past couple years, the Internet has become better, especially in Alaska.

seo moz crawl diagnosis
Hi seomozzers, We are creating a brand new website for a client and I would like to run an seo moz crawl to fix what has been done wrong. So my question is it ok to run an SEO moz crawl with a dev URL? Are final URLs and dev URLs will give me the same results or not? Basically, Should I wait for getting the final URL or is it ok to run a crawl under a dev URL such as www.dev2.example.com or http://183.2564.2864? Thank you 🙂

Change in how Google displays SERPs
Hi All, Recently our SERPs have changed in Google results to show product prices from our pages rather than the meta description. This just started to happen in November with no change (that we know of) on our side. I have attached a from and to SERP image if that helps. Does any one have any ideas as its starting to effect our rankings? Thanks, Tony. Tkeou,6jg6Q Tkeou,6jg6Q#1

Need advanced SEO help!
Hi guys, This is my last attempt to work out what is up with this site before it goes to the big Flipper in the sky (and even then I doubt it will make much more than £1!) This site was a successful site, then one day Google decided it didnt like it, and I have not had much joy with it for nearly a year now. I must admit I tried to forget about it for a while, but it has always been a thorn in my side due to the fact it used to be a nice little earner. I have SEOmoz crawled it and I cant find any issues that would cause such a severe penalty, I removed many of the affiliate links, clocked the rest of the affiliate links and tried numurous other ideas, but now, as a last ditch attempt I am looking for some help! I tried to avoid the typical thin affiliate site by adding relevant content, but I have seen sites with much poorer design and content rank higher than this one. Any ideas welcome! Thanks in advance My site
