Where to find good SEO freelancers?
-
Can anyone recommend any good SEO freelancers for on-site and off-site SEO work on a monthly basis?
On sites like elance, freelancer, etc. it's basicly impossible to find any good services due to so many bad "companies" offering all the same thing.

This thread may be old but I figured, people might still be coming across this post so here's my take:
I've known a few who went with Distilled and 97th floor and were satisfied with them. Both SEO providers mentioned are on Moz's recommended list which were also stated by the rest.
Now if you are really looking for a legit freelance SEO to work for you alone, you can try James of search marketing pro. Though they seem to cater to Australia only. But it is best if you ask (I mean no harm in asking, right?). I had an old website done with them and it was all good. A bugger as I had to close shop, though.
Odesk, which is now Upwork is generally better as it is now more like a real hiring process for the employer and the freelancer (It was used to be a horrendous bidding process with a lot of freelancers from developing countries outbidding the rest of the community bec. of low labor rates). I'm sure most of them are qualified to do the job. But look for someone who is really committed to work for you!
Cheers and happy hunting!

I find freelancers are only good if You first know seo or have a plan then you can hire someone and tell them exactly what you want them to do. Thats why going with a company can be a better option - if you dont have the budget you should take a consultant who can make you a road map of what you need then you can find a freelancer to do the work. - you can pm me what you need done and your budget and ill try to refer you to some freelancers.

This post might be helpful if using a elance, freelancer or odesk type of site: http://ontolo.com/blog/5-steps-assembling-all-star-link-building-team-odesk

Try the seomoz recommended list: http://www.seomoz.org/article/recommended
Using elance and freelancer to find the right person for SEO might be difficult. I'm sure there are good contractors on there, and some just running a (link) farm - literally.

Not being silly, but have you tried Google? Searching for seo consultant or seo agency etc together with your location will surely bring up some likely candidates. Linkedin might also be a good place to try the same type of search for some local talent. I agree with svmedia that it is nice to be able to meet them in person, although certainly not absolutely needed.

It looks like the original poster knows of these sites but is having difficulty finding good freelancers from these sites. Do you have recommendations for finding good freelancers through these sites?

Egol, I was thinking the same thing while I was out on a hike just now and you beat me to it. It is so logical- so much talent here right under our noses and we get to learn so much about members here by their interactions and smarts. No place like home.

Sorry I am sending you not to SEOMOZ.I am giving you best solution.Their are tens of lancing sites where you can find some one suitable for this job at a very low price.Their are many established companies who offered desire results on lancing sites like Freelancer,Odesk and elance.

For all of the past ten years, every person that I have hired to work on any of my websites has been a person that I have grown to know from their forum participation.
If you read a person's forum posts for a while you can get some idea of their competence for different types of jobs, their style, their communications ability and their generosity.
I have never been disappointed by any of them and have never met any of them face-to-face.
So, if you are looking for a certain type of work, search a forum for questions about the type of jobs you need to have done. Read those questions and see who consistently gives the clearest, most competent and thoughtful advice. That might be your person.
Lots of people who post on forums are available to work for hire. Some are not. If you read their profile page you can usually tell who is available for work and who isn't. Most who do work for hire have a link to their business website on their profile page.

Thanks for the suggestions. However those companies listed are out of the price range I am looking for and that's why I asked for freelancer recommendations.

If possible, find someone who will meet with you in person and/or speak to you on the phone on a regular basis. Poor communication and low-quality work seem to go hand in hand. Some SEO companies have email-only communication policies. Stuff like that - RED FLAG. I'd also look out for anyone who stresses the need for "link building" without doing any research into your site/market/competitors.
A lot of people on the SEOmoz recommended list are proven industry-leader types. No question you'll get the high quality work you're looking for and more.

SEOMoz has a page dedicated to recommended companies. I am placing the link below:

Good luck! You are right to use caution when hiring for SEO, so I recommend using the SEOMoz list!

Like .vs Share Button - for SEO which is better?
I personally from what I have read believe the share button to be more powerful when it comes to SEO but I don't know for a fact so anyone have any input on this subject? One thing I do know, is it's a lot harder to gain a 'Share' then a 'Like' and im talking about these buttons being onsite maybe in a blog post. If you gained 100 shares and 100 likes which one would generate the best signals? Thanks

How important are social signals to SEO?
How important are social signals to SEO? Are generating social signals a must? It seems every website out there has some sort of social sharing tool installed, everyone is after a like or a tweet. Are we now looking at getting as many likes/tweets etc from real accounts as possible because actually they effect SERP's a lot. Cheers

Scribit - A good deal?
Hi there! There's a new platform on the web which says that it can crawl on the web to get the best content around social media and blogs in order to allow the developer of website "x" to public this content on their websites (with all rights reserved - that make me believe that it generates automatically rel="cannonical" tags). http://techcrunch.com/2012/04/18/scribit-launch/ http://www.scribit.com/ I aways heard that all kind of automatic content applications suck, and my fist impression about this one was the same. But my business partner found it really interesting, mostly because we have a small team to generate constant great content. So I said to him that automatically generated content commonly suck in any case, and google sometime will find that our blog has 1kk rel="canonnical" tags for every post and they might find it suspect. Anyway he asked me to research more about this specific platform and I wanna know what you guys think about it. Forget speech errors. English is not my native language. Regards.

Whats the SEO value of getting Likes to your brand's Facebook Page (not your site's URLs being Liked)?
UPDATED: I meant to say SEO VALUE, not just business value Lets say I have a site - www.company.com, and I set up a Facebook Page - www.facebook.com/company. I understand the SEO value of having the domain www.company.com "Liked", using the FB Like button on my homepage lets say, or the same goes for individual pages - www.company.com/page. My question is rather about having my Facebook Page - Facebook.com/company "Liked". Are those likes counted by the engines as a strong signal that www.company.com should rank well? Or only that the Facebook Page - Facebook.com/company should rank well in searches for that company?

What would be a good way to drive traffic to a temporary post - job posting / classified ad?
I was wondering what would be the best way to drive traffic to a posting that will only last 30 days. I didn't think linking would be the answer, but wanted to get opinions. I was thinking pinging and social media (Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter)... What would your strategy be?
