Removing inbound links

How can I remove inbound links?
-
Thanks for the responses Guys!
The reason I wanted to know more about removing links was because a website that I look after had stopped receiving GA stats. I looked at the inbound links and found a few that where completely unrelated to the site (one from Japan and not translatable).
I did search for the Disavow tool from Google, but decided to try to contact the sites first to see if I can get the links removed that way.
On closer inspection, and much worry, I discovered that the GA tracking had stopped! How could that happen? As far as I know I am the only one with access to FTP... Worrying, but fixed now and I have had an education about the Disavow tool and link removal along the way
One more question: Are nofollow links harmful to a site if they are inbound?
-
Is this in response to a notice from Google or general house cleaning? And you need to asses if those links are actually causing you any harm in the first place, for example are they nofollow?
First step in removing links is always to try and contact the webmaster and ask them to remove the links. this is important as this will then impact on all Search engines, not just Google which would be the case if you automatically went for Disavow tool. It also provides you an audit trail if in future you find you need to demonstrate to search engines, say through a reconsideration request, that you have made an effort to clean up your site and comply with webmaster guidelines, To find contact details for a website you can try contact details on the site itself or look them up with tools such as the whois directory.
If contact fails, or if they demand money for removal then you should consider using Googles Disavow tool. Again please note this will only impact Google's algorithm. It should only really be a last resort however. You can access this through Webmaster tools, just search for disavow tool in the help section to the top right and follow the links,

Google Disavow, always good fun lol
I would suggest that you ensure that this is required before going down this path.... it is very time consuming, can negatively effect your current rankings, and is often not required!

Before using Disavow you will need to make a concerted effort to manually have the links removed. A good tool to coordinate this would be Rmoov. I would use Disavow as the last thing, if all else fails.

Use Google's disavow tool - detailed description here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/2648487?hl=en

Moz can't see my link from an external site
Hi, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this. I've had a followed link created from http://www.dubaisharks.com/ pointing to my website - http://www.yallarugby.com but in the reports it doesn't show that there is a link coming fro this website. The link has been active for a few months now, but still no record of it. Any ideas?

Can using url builder for campaign tracking impact link equity?
We have used the URL builder tools for building custom links that are placed on our referrer websites mainly for campaign tracking in Google Analytics, but when you use a shortened link on another website how does that impact the the link juice or equity? Is there any negative impact on the link rankings? Or should you provide the specific landing page url to the company that will be posting a link to your site?

Campaign link not working?
I imagine most of the initial problems with the domain migration to moz.com will be cleaned up rather quickly. I did however notice right away my links to my campaigns from the dashboard were not working. I then click the campaigns tab up top and my campaign links worked from there. Just thought I'd share real quick incase anyone else is having the same issue.

Need help locating a 404 link
My reports are showing a 404 error for a link to a page in our WP site for which we changed the URL months ago. I can't find where the link is coming from. I used Screaming Frog, but can't find where it might tell me the origin of the link, only that it exists. I am pretty sure it's internal. Can someone please tell me how to find the originating page so I can remove the link without having to comb through every page of the site to look for it? Thanks!

Why do links appear then disappear month to month?
What I mean by this is, a link to my site shows up in the August mozscape crawl, then the next month it doesn't, but its still an active link on the website. Once a site is crawled, shouldn't it always be there from now on?

Conflict in reported link data
I have a competitor in a campaign - the campaign report shows 181 linked domains BUT - the site explorer report shows only 15 linked domains. Which is correct? And if the site explorer is correct - how do we fix the campaign report? External Links through Open site explorer
I have just ran an Open site explorer query on our site due to having one of a constant ranking keywords drop, and found that we have 48 new links appear on the report under the anchor text 'home' These are not normal links, and I cannot see where or how these have been connected to our site for example: <colgroup span="1"><col span="1" width="696"></colgroup>

What are they? How can I get them removed, and let google know this was nothing to do with us? Thanks S |0 -
Need a Google Doc That Imports List of Links From SEOMoz API
Does anyone have one they'd like to share. I've seen the great ones by Tom Anthony but I am looking for the list of the first 1000 links that are available as part of the free API to be brought back into a Google Doc.
