Should YouTube videos be added too our sitemap
-
Our company recently started making videos and posting them on our YouTube channel. Should we include the YouTube videos to our sitemap for our main domain?
Thanks,
-
You don't need to include them no, and You can't include a sitemap entry for a YouTube video page anyway, only individual pages on your own site.
You can choose to include embedded your YouTube videos in your video sitemap if you wish - (Tutorial for you here: https://www.distilled.net/blog/video/creating-video-sitemaps-for-each-video-hosting-platform/) But this isn't the best strategy to take if you're trying to get rich snippets (see here: http://moz.com/blog/building-a-video-seo-strategy)
I hope that's useful!

No, you do not need to include links to youtube.com in your website's sitemap. Google has no problems indexing videos on YouTube and your sitemap is meant to help Google index content on your own website.
Video sitemaps are a must if you are using self-hosted videos (ie- not a YouTube video player). To learn the basics of video SEO, go here: http://moz.com/blog/building-a-video-seo-strategy

why google never shows Coursera or Udemy videos in the SERP?
I work for a website pretty much like Coursera, and google never brings up our videos in the SERP. It has been indexed and Search Console URL Inspection tool identifies it as a video object. is it a technical issue or just google doesn't like to show us in the SERP? Is there any way to fix this?

Video on Site Before Youtube?
We are going to create a few 1 - 2 minute instructional videos. I will be creating a blog that will include the video for our main website. I want to say I read or saw (Whiteboard Friday) that Rand Fishkin mentioned to place the video on your site first for about a month (or weeks). Then, you can publish it on Youtube etc. It sounds like a good plan. Have Google index your blog with the video and receive organic traffic. Then place it on Youtube. Is that correct? Is that the best practice? Like i said, I think it was Rand that discuss this. Would love to get feedback. Thanks.

Video Placement
HI all- I recently finished our first product video, about a candy called Sixlets. It's meant to be an educational video (as compared to linkbait) but of course I would love to get to seo benefit out of it. I am planning on putting the video on the individual product pages for each color sixlet to make sure people get the information they need. I am also planning on putting it on a page I will create that will house all of our videos. When I put together the video sitemap (via Wistia), I was really thinking of only including the video page, not the product pages, as as not to appear to be spammy. Does this make sense or am I going about this all wrong. Just want to make sure, as I am new to video. Thanks, Ken

Video on Home page
Would it be good SEO practice to place a video on the home page? http://villasdiani.com Right in the middle of the home page is a text about Villas Diani, I would like to remove it and rather place there always one of our newest videos which will start play once somebody lands there. As we are the only one of our competitor who has also videos of property rentals I would like to make out of it an advantage for our website which is not ranking:-( I am very new to seo and I am very scared to do such move which might even worsen all:-( I will appreciate any help

What's the best method for posting the same video with different phone and address on YouTube?
For a franchise network, what's the best method for posting the same video that is tagged with different phone numbers and address per each location on YouTube? Will this get removed as duplicate content eventually? Or if I use the geo-tagging feature, will this help?

Self Hosting Videos in Wordpress
Hi, I'm trying to figure out the best way to host my own videos on my website in addition to uploading them to YouTube. My site is Wordpress-based, and I use Pages for the main landing pages, Posts to create the different products I offer. Is there a good way to upload my videos of each product into those Posts for SEO purposes? Maybe there's a specific plugin that I should be using? Thanks in advance, Shawn
