Site Architecture for Sub-Brands

I am working on launching a few industry specific sub-brands for our marketing agency and am trying to figure out the best way to deliver a tailored user experience using subfolders instead of subdomains, if this is indeed the best option...
Since I am trying to provide separate experiences, I looking at housing microsites in sub-folders - say /technology or /medical. Each with its own navigation, home page, and industry specific content/blog/portfolio. A couple things I am considering:
Will my microsite "home pages" and site pages rank as well in a sub-folder versus if they were actually the primary pages on their own sub-domain?
Will separate Wordpress and theme installs and separate primary navigations have any affect on SEO if they are in sub-folders of the same site?

Hosting these pages as subfolders instead of subdomains should be fine, and is the "traditional" way of presenting new content with the highest likelihood that the content will inherit authority from its parent domain from an SEO point of view. They should rank just as well as if they were on subdomains or separate domains.
Separate installations and themes should not make a difference; Google will be absolutely clear in its understanding that these sub-brands are related to the main brand and to each other, so assuming you are fine with this, different design and CMS installations will not make a difference.

Hello Everyone, So we have a site (brand1.com) but one of our competitors has a very similar brand name and domain (brand2.org). They’re similar enough that could be confused by users and search engines and target the same topics. When you do a manual brand search they would come up and both have about the same Domain Authority. Assuming we can’t have them take their site down do any of you have any thoughts on how we could potentially measure potential impact they might be having or ideas on how best to approach this? We would also emphasize differences with an emphasis on local optimization (they’re in a different area). New domain for new branding
We are considering taking a redirect off and have our 20 yr old website go to our new name/brand 1yr old website. (junonia.com to junoactive.com) is there a checklist or template to follow when doing this? I need to get this completed with as little ramifications as possible. Help!? I did see the whiteboard friday concerning this and was hoping there was some more info or advice I could get to prepare everyone for what would happen and make sure I am getting it done right.

Niche sites migration into one authority site
I have multiple websites within the health niche. All 3 sites are about different topics: protein powder, superfoods, and sustainable products. I am thinking about migrating those 3 sites into 1 big site, to establish more authority and for branding purposes. But since those domains are exact match domains, and those exact keywords are pretty high volume, I'm not sure if it's a good idea. Will this be a good idea from a traffic/conversion/seo standpoint? Or should I make a header on top where people can 'switch' between those 3 sites? Or just leave them seperate?

Do non-spammy authoritative press release sites exist?
Hi there, To help get news out about our business and increase brand awareness, I am considering doing the occasional press release. However doing research on new SEO client backlinks there seem to be a lot of poor quality, spammy press release sites. So I would appreciate some opinions on decent sites please. Obviously we wouldn't be 'article marketing' so only new unique posts would be put out there and not in duplicates either - so one press release to one site etc. Also just curious as to whether this still works for SEO? But this is a secondary concern, because the activity would be for brand awareness - so avoiding rubbish sites will save us time, effort and potential damage. Thanks in advance!

Looking for examples of a B2B brand spinning off B2C products on to separate websites
Does anyone have any good examples or case studies? Right now I'm working on a site with both B2B and B2C products crowded onto one site. I'd love to find some examples of companies that have built their online B2B brand separately from their consumer products. How do you get reviews from a local review site to show up in Places?
Does anyone have any experience with getting a local review site to show up when it is turning out tens of thousands of reviews on local companies in one specific industry (no not restaurants) (Insurance agents, etc.)? Is there a submission process for Google? Thanks mozzers
