Issue with .uk.com domain
-
hi
i have rockshore.uk.com which is not indexing properly.
the internal pages do not show up for the text they have on them, or the title tags.
the site is on aekmps shops platform.
I understand that a .uk.com is not a proper TLD but i think i have a subdomain of .uk.com
Can anyone help?
thanks

I have no concerns with your having 149 links on a page. If you wish your pages to be listed, they need to be viewed as unique pages. To make that determination Google can view the entire page as a whole.
One suggestion is to create a blank page with your normal sidebars, header and footer. Look at your SEOmoz Analysis tool Page Elements tab. Determine how much HTML text is present. Now go back to your page and see how much your page content has grown.
There are no magic numbers to shoot for, but you should be conscious of your results. At the moment I see minimal content which is a concern. I also see that minimal content buried in a large amount of other text from your sidebars/header/footer which is duplicated throughout your site.
I checked Google.uk for "Car Air Freshner" which seems to be the keyword focus of your page. I didn't see your listing in the top 50 results. My suggestions would be:
-
change your title to just "Car Air Freshner" or "Car Air Freshner | Rockshore"
-
if you can, try to use friendly URLs.
-
find a way to add quality content to your page.

We have 149 internal links, which could be said to be a lot, but compared to many sites this is not a huge amount more.
So if i put say 300-400 words of unique content on this page that woudl drop that % and threefore woudl solve the problem? what % should i aim for?
Many E commerce sites dont have that amount of unique content on each page?

If you enter that page into Google, it appears. That page is indexed in Google. It may not rank as well as you like, but it is indexed.
Taking a closer look at the page, it is clear why it will not rank well. There is very little unique content. Your sidebars are full of links and content which are consistent throughout your site. If you count the number of words in your sidebars, header and footer, then add to it the unique content you will find that ?85% of your content is duplicated with a small amount of unique content in between. These are not quality pages.

HI
the domain is rockshore.uk.com
take a page
http://www.rockshore.uk.com/air-fresheners-201-c.asp
it is not coming up for the text ot the page, or the title tag.
This is the case for most internal pages.
i got told rockshore.uk.com is a subdomain of uk.com, and this might have something to do with the issues.
The site ranks well in Bing and Yahoo

It definitely wouldn't be the fact that it's a .uk.com that's causing the problem. No-one would ever use any other TLD's if it was only a few that got indexed.
-
I agree. It is possible he has made recent changes that have not yet been reflected in the SERPs. That is my guess. but there is certainly not enough information here to go on.
-
What do you mean "uk.com" is not a proper TLD? There is nothing wrong with it. Your TLD does not affect your site being indexed.
Can you offer more specifics on the problem? Take one page and explain, in detail, how the search results are not matching your expectations.
Please provide the URL and the term you are searching for, along with the search engine used (i..e Bing? Google UK? etc)

Old domain (example.com) to (somethingelse.com)
Hi there I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. I want to redirect our old domain (example.com) to (somethingelse.com). They are both hosted separately. The old domain has a domain authority of 20 and never ranked well. We can't be sure Google simply doesn't like the old domain. I'll explore the links again to check. Another question is: do we even want to pass the old authority to the new website? Thank you.

301 redirect after penalty to domain which currently 301 to the penalised domain
Hello all, As I have mentioned in another Q&A, one of our new clients got hit by manual penalty. I checked their link profile and there was a lot of black hat involved. Long story sort, I submitted a reconsiderationr equest which was not enough as it seems 99,9% of his links are bad links. We took the decision to move a newly launched web site from www.websitename.com to www.website-name.com with the latter being an old domain name with good authority and clean link profile. The problem is that at the moment the www.website-name.com is set to 301 redirect to www.websitename.com and what we want to do now is take the web site off www.websitename.com and launch (not 301 as we dont want to pass the penalty to the clean domain) it to www.website-name.com. What is the best practise for this particular case and are there any things i should pay attention to? I would appreciate your advise!

Domain hacked and redirected to another domain
2 weeks ago my home page plus some others had a 301 redirect to another cloned domain for about 1 week (due to a hack). The original pages were then de-indexed and the new bad domain was indexed and in effect stole my rankings. Then the 301 was removed/cleaned from my domain and the bad domain was fully de-indexed via a request I made in WMT (this was 1 week ago). Then my pages came back into the index but without any ranking power (as if it's just in the supplemental index). It's been like this for a week now and the algorithms have not been able to correct it. So how do I get this damage undone or corrected? Can someone at Google reverse/cancel the 301 ranking transfer since the algorithms don't seem to be able to?I have the option to do a "Change of Address" in WMT from bad domain to my domain. But I don't think this would work properly because it says I also need to place a 301 on the bad domain back to mine. Would a change of address still work without the 301?Please advise/help what to do in order to get my rankings back to where they were.

Old domain vs. New keyword domain - Thoughts?
Okay. I'd like to get opinions as to what everyone thinks about domains lately. Here is any example: The current domain is general in nature, in fact, it's a persons name because they are a real estate agent. So the domain is something like JohnDoe.com. Current stats: Has approx. 130 linking domains pointing to it. Has over 300 incoming links from these linking domains. The link profile is clean and not spammy (not to say there are not a few that might be here and there) Was bough in 1994 The new domain would have very little value except it would be keyword rich such as PortlandHomesForSale.com (just an example). What are your thoughts. Thank you.

How do I stop www.mysite.com/ showing as a duplicate of www.mysite.com
I have run the campaigns software over a site and it is showing that www.mysite.com/ is a duplicate of www.mysite.com, how do I correct this? Is it a genuine duplicate page? My first thought was to use rel canonical but there is no page called / to put it on. Your suggestions welcomed Sean

What should I set my domain setting to?
In Google Wemnaster tools, I have the option to set it to either have as default the "www" or without it. What are the pros and cons of one way or the other . . . or is this a way more complicated question/can of worms I have opened?
