Best practice for H1 on site without H1 - Alternative methods?

I have recently set up a mens style blog - the site is made up of articles pulled in from a CMS and I am wanting to keep the design as clean as possible - so no text other than the articles.
This makes it hard to get a H1 tag into the page - are there any solutions/alternatives? that would be good for SEO?

This would be correct and a simple job. Find a WordPress developer and have them make an edit to the theme to include an H1 tag.

Hey there!
I'm assuming that you don't have a static homepage in WordPress, meaning that you can't edit it under 'pages' and add an H1.
You'll have to find the home / index template under Appearance > Editor and add an H1 there.

yeah I know for the subpages I have the H1's i mean for the homepage? in terms of it not being text based other than the individual articles content.
Yeah backlinks - social is the next thing to get on once I have the site finished

Hi, it looks like you have a Wordpress website and also the use of H1. For example on page: http://www.iamtheconnoisseur.com/casual-connoisseur-x-trickett-the-weir-collaboration-gift-set/ you have H1 at Casual Connoisseur x TRiCKETT ( you can see it in the source code).
Your site is using images you can use the "alt tag" here's some info about it: https://econsultancy.com/blog/63845-the-basics-of-using-alt-text-for-seo/
Also start using the meta description in the head, it's not a big SEO thing but at least your snippets in Google will get it's info from it and good snippets are good for clicks.Get backlinks to your site. Without backlinks no authority on your domain. in OSE i don't see any backlink, it's worth trying to get some..

Moving to a new site while keeping old site live
For reasons I won't get into here, I need to move most of my site to a new domain (DOMAIN B) while keeping every single current detail on the old domain (DOMAIN A) as it is. Meaning, there will be 2 live websites that have mostly the same content, but I want the content to appear to search engines as though it now belongs to DOMAIN B. Weird situation. I know. I've run around in circles trying to figure out the best course of action. What do you think is the best way of going about this? Do I simply point DOMAIN A's canonical tags to the copied content on DOMAIN B and call it good? Should I ask sites that link to DOMAIN A to change their links to DOMAIN B, or start fresh and cut my losses? Should I still file a change of address with GWT, even though I'm not going to 301 redirect anything?

Slug best practices?

Where is the best place to put a sitemap for a site with local content?
I have a simple site that has cities as subdirectories (so URL is root/cityname). All of my content is localized for the city. My "root" page simply links to other cities. I very specifically want to rank for "topic" pages for each city and I'm trying to figure out where to put the sitemap so Google crawls everything most efficiently. I'm debating the following options, which one is better? Put the sitemap on the footer of "root" and link to all popular pages across cities. The advantage here is obviously that the links are one less click away from root. Put the sitemap on the footer of "city root" (e.g. root/cityname) and include all topics for that city. This is how Yelp does it. The advantage here is that the content is "localized" but the disadvantage is it's further away from the root. Put the sitemap on the footer of "city root" and include all topics across all cities. That way wherever Google comes into the site they'll be close to all topics I want to rank for. Thoughts? Domain Name Change - Best Practices?
Good day guys, We got a restaurant that is changing its name and domain. However they are keeping the same server location, same content and same pages (we are just changing the logo on the website). It just has to go a new domain. We don't want to lose the value of the current site, and we want to avoid any duplicate penalties. Could you please advise of the best practices of doing a domain name change? Thank you.

Best practice to redirects based on visitors' detected language
One of our websites has two languages, English and Italian. The English pages are available at the root level:

www.site.com/page2 The Italian pages are available under the /it/ level:
www.site.com/it Italian homepage www.site.com/it/pagina1
www.site.com/it/pagina2 When an Italian visitor first visits www.mysit.com we'd like to redirect it to www.site.com/it but we don't know if that would impact search engine spiders (eg GoogleBot) in any way... It would be better to do a Javascript redirect? Or an http 3xx redirect? If so, which of the 3xx redirect should we use? Thank you0
