What travel keywords to choose? 'flight' or 'airplane ticket'?
-
I did some keyword research in order to do some onsite optimization on a travel industry-related website.
I found 2 kinds of relevant keywords:
- 'flight'-related keywords (e.g.: flight chicago dallas)
- 'airplane ticket'-related keywords (e.g.: airplane ticket chicago dallas)
Competition is the same on both but the first ones have more volume. So I'm really tempted to go with the 'flight'-related keywords.
However the 'airplane ticket'-related keywords also have an interested volume so how should I do my onsite optimization.
So each one of this solution do you think is the best:
- creating one page targeting the 'flight' and 'airplane tickets'-related keywords knowing isn't a good practice targeting two different keywords ?
- creating two different pages (one targeting 'flight' and the other one targeting 'airplane tickets') but it isn't very relevant for visitors since both pages are proposing the same offer? also it might have some duplicate content issue.
- creating one page targeting 'flight' and forget about 'airplane tickets' and missing some opportunities ?
- creating one page targeting 'flight' and adding some 'airplane tickets' keywords in content and hoping to get some 'airplane tickets' keywords traffic ?
Thank you in advance for your feedback and sharing your experience in the same kind of issue.

Hey Dmitrii,
I definitely go with your recommandation. it's the most logical way to do in order to maximise visibility on both targeted keywords. thanks a lot for your return

Hey Tom,
Thanks a lot for your feedback and your examples. This sounds definitely the best way to go. Thank you again.

Your 1st solution is what I would do, personally.
An example page title (off the top of my head) could be: "Cheap Airplane Tickets on Chicago Dallas Flights" or something like that. You don't necessarily need the exact query string to rank.
I would create a really great landing page (with your target keywords), and then create helpful and interesting blog posts that link to it. For example:
- "What to Expect on Your Flight from Chicago to Dallas"
- "Do Cheap Airplane Tickets for a Chicago-Dallas Flight Still Exist?"
- etc.
I would be careful when creating multiple pages to target specific keywords on each, especially when the keywords and the intention behind them is so similar (people looking for "airplane tickets" are most likely looking for "flights", and vice versa).

Hello, my friend.
I say go with with first solution - target both keywords, because they are very much related and you can very much naturally bond them. It's not the best practice if you're trying to target two non-related keywords on the same page, when they shouldn't even be on the same page. In your case it's not an issue whatsoever.
Cheers.

Google keywords
I'm having trouble understanding how google determines out of my text what are the keywords and what aren't. Is there somewhere I can go that will tell me what google sees as my dominant keywords and I'd like to see my total keyword list too. We are running eCommerce and I don't think it is picking up on everything we expected it to see as keywords. I'm pretty new to this SEO stuff but I'm trying to learn. Any help would be appreciated. I understand I'm suppose to include important words in my page titles, headers and meta description and use effective markup as well so I'm just a bit lost on how I can actually see what google counts as my keywords and their level of power/importance. If this isn't possible if anyone has any suggestions on how to gauge this, I'm open to ideas! Thanks in advance guys!

How to choose a Keyword
I searched around for this answer first but got information overload. I write a photography blog and tonight I will put up a post of photography from around Jiyugaoka Train Station. I will probably call the post Around Jiyugaoka Station or Around Jiyugaoka or something like that. I like in Jiyugaoka (a part of Tokyo) so I have other posts that I have keyworded for Jiyugaoka. What is the best way to determine what is the best derivative of 'Jiyugaoka Station' to choose for the best traffic? I assume I could enter them in to manually into the Keyword Analysis but is there is easier way that would give recommendations?

Why will my site not rank for this keyword?
My site http://www.electric-heatingcompany.co.uk/ performs quite well for most of my keywords and gets ok traffic. But for "electric radiators" it just isn't ranking? I was thinking about redoing the landing page for it? Can anyone offer some insight as to what else I could do? Here is the current electric radiators page http://www.electric-heatingcompany.co.uk/index.php/electric-radiators-2/ Thanks, Laura

Using city location in keywords?
Hi all, new to SEO MOZ and SEO in general. I'm trying to do some keyword research to choose keywords and keyphrases for on page SEO as well as an Adwords campaign for a real estate agency that focuses on luxury high rise condos and homes in the Dallas area. My question is, when choosing keywords do you need to include your location in the key phrase? For instance luxury real estate or dallas luxury real estate? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

Keyword Strategy for an E-Commerce Site
I've seen this touched on in other posts but have read conflicting answers and am hoping to get some clarification. What should my keyword strategy be for an e-commerce site in an industry that has moderate to high competition for it's short-tail keyword phrases? Should I try to optimize my homepage for the highly competitive, short-tail keywords, while going after the long-tail, and less competitive (but less traffic, too) on my product pages? What's a good rule of thumb as far as the number of keyword phrases to target per product? Thank you
