Website Ranking well in Mobile but not in Desktop

Hello guys,
Recently we are experiencing good rankings for our targeted keywords in mobile but in desktop the rankings are not progressing.
For example, in Mobile, our main targetted keyword ranks in 7th position but in Desktop we are stuck in 11th position. In desktop the website have been stuck in 11th position for quite some time now, any suggestion will help.

Assuming the mobile site is a "m." make sure your using the rel=alternate tag to tell google the different versions.

Sounds like you have an mobile optimized Website (responsive, correct redirects, somthing like that) or your website has a pretty good User-Experience when it is used on mobile and some of your competitors don't.

Is your website responsive, or do you have a separate mobile site?
If it's a separate mobile site, is there a difference between the content on each? If so, I'd have a look at the content and investigate whether the mobile version is more user friendly, for example.
If it's a responsive site, or if the content is the same, I'd investigate the competition. Perform a search for the keyword from a mobile device, and from a desktop device, and check if the websites which are ranking above you on desktop but not mobile have mobile-friendly websites. I've seen this affect some clients more and more, and where we have a mobile-friendly site, that site often ranks slightly better for mobile queries.

There could be many factors affecting this, are you able to provide more details (Key term, what page is ranking, etc) you are having the issue with? With a little more detail some of the intelligent folks here could offer some suggestions/theories.

More than one link on an external website
Just wanted to clarify my understanding of this... I'm of the understanding that if an external site has more than one link going to your site, then it is only the one link that passes value. If this is the case.... Which is the link that passes value (i.e the first link established or the link that, all factors being considered, is the most valuable for passing authority?) If a second link established on an external website comes from and goes to a different webpage than the first (and is done for the purposes of targeting and boosting a different keyword category/theme), is this then a beneficial practice? If multiple links on an external website all serve to generate solid referral traffic, will this boost rankings, and thereby be a sound practice? Thanks in advance for your help in clarifying this for me!

Duplicate contents with competitors websites
Hello, I have use the http://copyscape.com to check the duplicate content and found that my website have some errors duplicate contents with other competitors website. But a problem is, I could not define the reason of this (my website copied the competitors website or they copied of mine) To solve this issues, should I modify a unique my contents (this is difficult) or anyone have a good solution for this problem? Blog articles on website vs submitting to article submission sites
I had some articles created for a client. The site is on WordPress. I'm wondering if it is best to add the articles to the blog page of the website or if it is better to submit the articles to ezine articles. Or can I submit the same article to both places? Asking other websites to link your website when the want to be in your directory
Hello, We have 3 web directories, and I wonder if it is legal for search engines to ask people who want to be in the directory to link to a particular website in order to be in our directory. I mean, it is free adding the url in the directory but if they lwant to be in the directory they have to ink to a website we have decided.
