Could be the PA greater than the DA?
-
Hello users MOZ:
I have a question about page and domain authority. It is OK that sometimes PA is greater than the DA? I think that's not right, but it happens in some domains, for example in the attached image. -
So glad I could help!
-
Thank you very much for your reply, I really clarified

Eric and Andrew are both right on this one; PA can definitely be higher than DA in certain situations.
PA is a measure of how likely a page is to rank against any other page in our index, while DA is the same thing for a domain rather than just one page. You can definitely have one page on a domain that ranks well while all of the other pages aren't doing so great.
Both DA and PA are calculated based on a large number of metrics so, while they aren't mutually exclusive, they aren't directly correlated either. DA is taken into account when calculating PA, so a low DA could bring down a high PA a bit, but it doesn't negate all of the other metrics that would make the PA high.
I hope this helps to clear things up!

Thanks Eric, lot better said than I put it

Yes, I actually see this quite often for smaller sites. DA is looking at the entire site, while PA is only that page so if that one page is really awesome then yes it will have a PA higher than the overall site. Typically that will happen with the homepage or a really great piece of content, since both would attract the most links to your site. Those pages would grow to have a higher PA, which would be a strong indicator these are important for the overall health of the site.
So if you have a page that has a high PA, you can spread that by having a solid internal linking structure within your website. Link from the high PA page to other important pages for your site, and you'll see the PA of the linked pages grow.

It can happen that PA is higher than DA on some sites but from my understanding of this both factors can be important and it depends on the situation. They are both measures of ranking power.

I want to know about the Impact of Do-follow backlinks and No-follow backlinks for increasing DA.
Have Do-follow backlinks and No-Follow backlinks same value to increase Domain Authority in Moz? Recently, I have created 290 profile backlinks which was do-follow. But from yesterday I have seen all backlinks are no-follow now according to the decision of sites' owners. My site's DA has already increased up to 35. Will this DA fall gradually from now? Apart from it, if I have created same backlinks for my another site; will my DA be 35? Please try to clarify it. My site is: Homeworkpaper.net Thanks. Waiting for your valuable answer from Moz official.

How is Moz DA affected by spam links? Disavow file?
So it does not appear that moz let's you upload your disavow file. So when moz calculates your DA how do spammy links factor in? After digging through our GA it appears our site was hit with the 2016 penguin update and never recovered. Our weekly visitors were 2k, then dropped to 500 and have stayed close to that level for a while. We've used the disavow tool, without success over the past 3 years. During that time we have done link out reach and built around 10 legit good quality DA links since. But we have not recovered. At this point i'm thinking I should just remove the disavow file. Moz says our spam score for our domain is 5%.

UPDATE: Rolling back an adjustment which had adverse effects on DA and PA scores.
UPDATE: Yesterday's (June 4, 2018) adjustment to our DA/PA metrics turned out to have some unanticipated adverse effects. We're rolling back the adjustment, so by midday tomorrow you should see your scores return to what they were earlier this week. We're also implementing some new procedural checks on our end to help make sure it doesn't happen again. We sincerely apologize for any stress or burden this may have caused. We also want to emphasize that DA and PA are relative metrics. The scores will fluctuate slightly with the index, and for that reason, should be used to compare your site with others. We realize this isn't always easy to explain to clients and stakeholders, so we're working on ways to help you all report these metrics in ways that minimize the potential for confusion. ****** We are continuing to improve our Domain Authority and Page Authority algorithms and strengthen our link index. As of today, June 14, 2018, You may notice a slight variation in current and historic DA/PA scores in Link Explorer and tools that incorporate our new link data such as Campaigns, Keyword Explorer, and MozBar. This is due to a planned adjustment on our end that could be more noticeable than our standard updates. We made this adjustment in order to account for the rapid growth of our link index over the past 6 months and and stabilize distribution of scores over time. For customers who have been tracking DA scores over time, you may want to make note of this adjustment date in your reporting. Rest assured that our DA and PA scores are still far more stable and accurate than they were previously in Open Site Explorer. Our index is now 20 times larger (and growing) and updating daily rather than monthly, therefore standard fluctuations in the index are far less noticeable in your score than before. DA and PA will still always fluctuate slightly and naturally with the index. As the landscape of the internet changes, so should our index to reflect those changes. Whenever we make an update on our end that could be noticeable on your end, we will let you know. Also, please remember that DA and PA scores should always be understood as relative to other sites’ scores in the index, and reported to clients in relation to their competition and not as a standalone metric of individual performance. If you have more questions about DA or the difference between the new score in Link Explorer vs. the old score in OSE, please read this FAQ page, or post a question below and I or a Mozzer will reach out. Thank you! Ian

Drop in DA across multiple sites
Hi I monitor and track few Top sites that are Industry leaders. I got -1 to -3 in DA across this month. Has anyone else experienced this and the matter of fact is there has been rare or no change in the sites but the moz backlink data experienced a major drop "more then 100K backlinks were dropped for them in yesterday's report as compared to a 20 day old report". Has anyone at Moz or anyone in the community experienced the same

Drop in DA and PA and lost a load of links
Hi Mozzers, I just check a site in OSE and while the inbound domains are up the total links have dropped and therefore DA and PA. How can I find which links have gone. I'm assuming a domain passing 1000's of links has either gone down or broken the link - can I use the ISE tool to fine which links have been recently broken? I know there is just discovered for new links. If not can you recommend a tool please. Thanks

DA/PA Question
Hello Mozzers, May be a noobish question but I've learned to ask when I stuck. Can we calculate how many links we need to get for example a domain authority of 40. Like can we say, if we get 8 more 80+ DA links, our own DA rises to 40. I know DA/PA are just moz numbers and it takes a lot more to succeed, but I thought about it and now I want to know it;) Help is highly appreciated!
