Does MerchantCircle.com have any SEO benefit?

We have created accounts for several of our clients at www.MerchantCircle.com directory and created blogs, coupons, etc for them but we did not get any single click or benefit from merchantcircle.com at all. We wasted a lot of time and also monthly membership fees.
I really would like to hear your experiences.
Did you have any positive results from merchantcircle.com ?
Did they lose their importance after Panda update?
Their MOZrank also shows ZERO and we are considering cancelling our accounts with them.

we tried MC for 5-6 clients and we spent a lot of time writing blogs, coupons etc. and spent a lot of time & money, but we did not get any single benefit from merchantcircle.com. it was totally a waste of time and money.

I have used, and still use, MC for a part of our Internet marketing plan for each of our clients. The MC listing does aide in boosting page 2 and page 3 rankings. I too have noticed a drastic decline in MC total aide in page 1 rankings...especially since they were sold! I think MC still helps for service-based listings when used as a City+ name application.

thanks for your comments. We have not received any single benefit using merchantcircle.com and cancelled all of our accounts. it was a waste of time and money.

It used to be that your merchant circle listing had a lot of potential to quickly rank organically and drive phone calls and leads directly for keyword +city name queries. There would rarely be any click-throughs to my client's websites though. I just checked a clients analytics from the past few years and they got grand total of 22 clicks since 2008 (22 out of 25,000+ referring sites clicks). However, I do know from phone tracking that we were doing at the time that they received at least 5-10 calls a month from their merchant circle listing. Things have changed though. Merchant Circle listings don't rank like they used to. You used to be able to rank them just by "connecting" with all the nearby businesses, but now you have to put some serious effort in. It's not just because of Panda, it's also because there simply isn't much real estate on the front page for a profile page listing anymore. IMHO, they're little more than a good citation these days. I think the time and money is better spent elsewhere.

I have no personal experience with them but did notice two things when I examined their site.
Their MOZrank also shows ZERO
For their home page I see their Domain Moz Rank 6.57 and Page Moz Rang 5.13. Perhaps your tool didn't load properly?
One thing that bothers me about their site is their BBB badge should be a clickable image. I checked the BBB site and they are accredited but they also show a lawsuit settled last year for $900k along with 150 complaints closed in the last 12 months.

Does an external link to an image file on my site help my SEO?
I found a few websites that are displaying images from my site. Curiously, they have also linked these images to the source image file on my website. I found these because Moz showed these sites in my list of backlinks. I assume that means it impacts my Domain Authority. But does this actually help me in search engines since it's not linking to a page on my site?

Do links on Reference.com and Ask.com count as backlinks?
Hi there Just had a quick question about links on Reference.com or Ask.com. I have been looking at my competitors link profiles to get ideas of who and where I should/could be linking from. One of my main competitors seems to have links on Reference.com and Ask.com which are being listed in there profile. Reference.com are dofollow. Our site is also appearing on these sites, but the links are being listed under our profile. We have been up and running for more that 3 years now. The obviously have high DR and I think must be a contributing factor to their rank, having looked at other links in their profile. It seems strange because I thought these sites are effectively search engines and therefore wouldn't count towards your backlink profile? Can anyone explain? Would be most grateful if someone can. The Benefit of Internal Backwards Links in Product Descriptions
We want to work out if it is beneficial to use links pointing back to categories (higher up in the structure) on our website product pages. For example, our Aria Dress by Jadore is found through the path: Home > Bridesmaid > Full Length Bridesmaids Dresses > Aria Dress In the product description for the Aria Dress, is it beneficial to include internal links pointing back to higher branches in the website structure .e.g. the Full Length Bridesmaids Dresses category page, the Bridesmaid category page, as well as linking back to the 'Jadore' page? Will doing this for every dress (linking back to category page), improve the SEO of these category pages? How many internal links is too many to include on any given product description? Is it more important to ensure a direct link to every single webpage so that they can be reached by Google, or to include links in both directions .i.e. from Home > Product Category > Product, as well as from Product > Product Category? Thank you.

Should i disavow yellowpages.com. Webmater tools shows 656 links coming from it.
We do not have any manual penalty warnings but I am still concerned that Google will see this as unnatural and be penalizing us to a lesser degree.

Article submission web-sites and SEO
Does article submission web-sites have any impact to SEO in these days? There are a lot of good/not so good article submission databases, but does it really matter if you spend a time to write unique articles for them? I mean, is it a good way for link-building, or should I spend more time for other parts of SEO? There are also a special websites (for example SubmitYourArticle) which automate this process, does it make sense to use this services? Alternates? Lots of questions… Update Sorry, I found some good answers only after that I posted this question.

Is commenting on other peoples blogs / articles good for seo?
Hello everyone, Just a quick question, say if I find some websites which are relevant to my service and they have articles I can comment on and include my URL , will these help for SEO? The websites also have a good PR rating higher than 3 does this count towards anything? Would these links be classed 'follow' or 'nofollow' links - could something please explain what this means aswell. Thanks very much!

Do inbound links to download .exe files improve SEO?
The site, (http://www.bartenderbarcodesoftware.com/) sells barcode software. They also provide free printer drivers on their site. During a recent domain change (before I started helping them), they began looking at their inbound links and found quite a few external sites linking to these download files. However, when someone clicks on the link on one of these sites (i.e. http://vvs-motor.com.ua/barcode-printer-drivers) it immediately begins downloading the file (i.e. http://www.seagullscientific.com/downloads/drivers/archive/7.2/7.2.4/Unimark_7.2.4.exe) without taking the visitor to the site. The owner would greatly prefer this traffic to engage with the site and is considering 301 redirecting those download links to an actual webpage. Question: Would this look suspicious to Google? Would this have a positive or negative effect on SEO? The last factor to consider is that many of these sites will likely just recreate the list based on the new links at some future point. Reseller seo
so i have a web design firm and, when i decided i need to offer seo services i originally went with an seo reseller company. i decided to try them out on myself so i gave them 4 keywords to rank for and tried them for about 6 months. when they started, our website was in google oblivion for those 4 keywords. after 6 months some keywords are on page 1 and some at the top of page 2. the ones on page 1 are the ones i also optimized for by putting the keyword in a footer link in all my clients' sites. when i look over what they did they either wrote cheesy articles that link back to me and posted them in random places or they commented on people's blogs linking back to me. but it seemed to work. at least to get me from oblivion to page 2. now it seems to me these methods are discouraged here but they seem to do at least some good. any thoughts or comments on this?
