Has Anyone Ever Used Nearby Now App for SEO?
-
Hello Moz World,
I was researching different ways to expand a client's SEO beyond his brick and mortar location. I listen to a webinar by Brightlocal on tactics I could use to help improve rankings. (Great Webinar, nothing really relevant till after the 30 minute mark). One of the host recommended an app called Nearby Now which will help a local service provider rank in multiple towns by allowing clients to provide a testimonial in realtime in the city that the service was provided and link it back to the website. I sat down with a customer service rep, and it sounds like its a great low cost solution for service providers to rank outside of their brick and mortar location. My question, Has anyone used it? Have you had a good experience? Can anyone recommend a better app?
As always, thank you for your feedback and time.
Best Regards,
Will H.

Hi there Will,
Did you end up becoming a NearbyNow customer? Just curious.
I am a customer and I think they do have a winning business idea. That said, I have found their systems to be a bit problematic and their help files to be weak. In addition, they just recently made a key feature only available for a daftly named "SEO Pro Master" plan; I am predicting a future SEO Pro Master Guru plan ;-). This was a feature I relied on in the SEO Pro plan to allow my clients to update their questions to make them more relevant to their businesses and change verbiage to say "patient" versus "client" or "customer". These may be irrelevant issues to your application - but I thought you and anyone else seeing this thread would like to know.
Cheers,
Ross -
Hello Miriam,
Thanks for the feedback and references. I will definitely follow up and let you guys know how my implementation went.

Hey There
While I haven't personally experimented with this, these resources interested me and I thought they might interest you, too:
http://www.bestpestmarketing.com/nearbynow/
What surprises me is the lack of coverage of this app in the past year. If you set your search parameter to the past year, you'll see very few mentions. I'm not sure why that is, but it actually took me a minute to even remember the app you were referencing when I first read this thread. Then, I remembered seeing it discussed in 2014. If you do play around with it and like the results, I'd love it if you'd update this thread with your experience, as there just doesn't seem to be a ton of coverage on it.

Thanks for the response, Russ.

I've seen good things from Nearby Now. Any platform that helps you get genuine, timely, local-specific reviews is going to be beneficial, and Nearby Now seems to do that particularly well.

Should I have Configurable or Simple products from an SEO point of view?
We currently have around 5-10 colour/size variations per product on a configurable page and were thinking of changing to Simple Sku so that we have more product pages and will rank for each colour variation other than just the generic product. However with configurable products we could enable product reviews which would mean that we get more reviews on one URL as opposed to a less reviews on multiple URLs for color variants. Also, we are thinking that we will get more links and traffic to one page rather than multiple pages of the same product as well as time spent on that particular page. What is the consensus on what is better for SEO on this? Many Thanks

Does anyone use an embeddable Google review widget?
Currently, I use an embeddable Yelp review widget on my site. The widget I use has been helpful, but is no longer actively maintained and I'd prefer to show Google reviews instead. Does anyone have a recommendation for a widget to embed Google reviews?

Hello, Just after advice for a website I've recently relaunched, started very basic seo. However having loads of pages it’s hard to dedicate the time to get the on-site seo completed. Question for Ecommence sites, do we really need to individually content on all pages? I've also start link building & will be setting up blog, Am debating which task too complete first Or maybe combination of them all. I think due to my dyslexia I keep putting the blog off as you can properly tell English is definitely not one of my strengths. Anyway am looking for advice not just on seo , design too, what your opinions ? I have good concept for marketing just learning the ways to implement it, my website sportingdesires dot com. Will be adding other sports, really need to impermanent a blog... all in good time I suppose. Sorry for my rambling please leave any feedback good or bad I promise I won’t hunt ya down (lol) in all serious am just looking for eyes from people it always help to get mixed reviews and opinions.
