GOOGLE ANALYTIC SKEWED DATA BECAUSE OF GHOST REFERRAL SPAM ND CRAWL BOTS
-
Hi Guys,
We are having some major problems with our Google Analytics and MOz account. Due to the large number of ghost/referral spam and crawler bots we have added some heavy filtering to GA. This seems to be working protecting the data from all these problems but also filtering out much needed data that is not coming through. In example, we used to get a hundred visitors a day at the least and now we are down to under ten.
ANYBODY PLEASE HELP. HAVE READ THROUGH MANY ARTICLES WITH NO FIND TO PERMANENT SOLID SOLUTION (even willing to go with paid service instead of GA)
Thank You so Much,
S.M.

As I understand, you get referral traffic from websites like; traffic-cash and those with .xyz extension.
There is a great article on how to filter those: https://www.ohow.co/what-is-referrer-spam-how-stop-it-guide/

I wonder what kind of bots or crawlers you were seeing before because we have millions of visitors in our analytics set-ups, no filters to filter them out and we barely see any traffic coming from browsers or hostnames that may be identified as such.

You may have already tried this (https://megalytic.com/blog/how-to-filter-out-fake-referrals-and-other-google-analytics-spam) as I believe it is one of the more common articles, but it suggests setting up a filter to use hostnames and testing it with a segment. This has worked well for us. You have to be careful and make sure you use ALL the relevant hostnames and that your expression doesn't contain errors.

What filters do you have setup?
Generally, I prefer to set up two views on an Analytics property, one containing all of the data, and one with filters. This way if the filtered data is looking lower than expected, there's still the complete view to compare against. It also makes it easy to test the efficacy of the filters that were created.

Site Crawl 4xx Errors?
Hello! When I check our website's critical crawler issues with Moz Site Crawler, I'm seeing over 1000 pages with a 4xx error. All of the pages that are showing to have a 4xx error appear to be the brand and product pages we have on our website, but with /URL at the end of each permalink. For example, we have a page on our site for a brand called Davinci. The URL is https://kannakart.com/davinci/. In the site crawler, I'm seeing the 4xx for this URL: https://kannakart.com/davinci/URL. Could this be a plugin on our site that is generating these URLs? If they're going to be an issue, I'd like to remove them. However, I'm not sure exactly where to begin. Thanks in advance for the help, -Andrew

Moz vs google data conflict?
Hi there, I am doing an SEO site audit for a client(giveaway, and here is the problem: when performing site:domain.com on google --> 13,800 pages were found When I see this number it seems to be a bit too much compare to the links i checked on integrity(link check for broken links) which gave me a result of 1291. I digged in more into the Google results and saw hundreds(maybe thousands) of pages that are blocked by robots.txt. So I am thinking, ok this is it, thousands of pages can't be crawled by the search engines. Here is the big BUT though, then I check at my moz crawl (see attachment) and no pages are blocked by the SEs, and then look at the dups, only 23 recorded?? Is Moz not crawling properly the 13,800 results that google finds or is this some magical phenomenon happening here? I am really confused here that is why I need some help here! Thank you guys! Crawlers crawl weird long urls
I did a crawl start for the first time and i get many errors, but the weird fact is that the crawler tracks duplicate long, not existing urls. For example (to be clear): there is a page: www.website.com/dogs/dog.html but then it is continuing crawling:
Moz Pro | | r.nijkamp
www.website.com/dogs/dog.html
www.website.com/dogs/dogs/dog.html
www.website.com/dogs/dogs/dogs/dog.html
www.website.com/dogs/dogs/dogs/dogs/dog.html
www.website.com/dogs/dogs/dogs/dogs/dogs/dog.html what can I do about this? Screaming Frog gave me the same issue, so I know it's something with my website0 -

Crawl Diagnostics Report
I'm a bit concerned about the results I'm getting from the Crawl Diagnostics Report. I've updated the site with canonical urls to remove duplicate content and when I check the site - it all displays the right values, but the report, which has just finished crawling is still showing a lot of pages as duplicate content. Simple example: http://www.domain.com http://www.domain.com/ Both of them are in the duplicate content section although both have canonical url set as: Does each crawl check the entire site from the beginning or just the pages it didn't have a chance to crawl the last time? This is just one of 333 duplicate content pages, which have canonical url pointing to the right page. Can someone please explain?

Crawl Diagnostic Errors
Hi there, Seeing a large number of errors in the SEOMOZ Pro crawl results. The 404 errors are for pages that look like this: http://www.example.com/2010/07/blogpost/http:%2F%2Fwww.example.com%2F2010%2F07%2Fblogpost%2F I know that t%2F represents the two slashes, but I'm not sure why these addresses are being crawled. The site is a wordpress site. Anyone seen anything like this?

Can I change the crawl day ?
Hi All I hope there is a simple solution to this - we have a number of campaigns setup which are all crawled, and therefore updated, on different days of the week. We review these weekly and it would be much easier if they were all crawled on the same day. Is it possible to change the crawl day for some campaigns? Thanks Roy
