Best Wordpress theme for blogging
-
Hi all,
What is the best Wordpress theme for a professional DM blog? I am looking for something minimalistic where I can add my personal profile and have articles nicely listed, potentially grouped within categories.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

"My Blog Tech" for me is the best version, in fact looks very nice, one thing of themeforest, that I don't like, is all the themes looks the same, for me is very hard to choose one, all have excellent color combination or font combination, but if you have some experience in 2 or seconds can recognize it.
Thats wht I prefer "My Blog Tech" simple and effective
Note. Keep me updated with progress of your website will be a pleasure if I can help you.

Hi Moe,
Wooow! It's really beautiful and it looks incredibly professional! So professional that it makes me feel I might not be ready for something that cool. I will need to see how I can simplify it as most demos come very rich and I would like to start very plain and simple. Thanks so much for your suggestion!

Thanks Roman,
You are right, Pluto is really nice, but I am not sure if it would work for a DM blog. It looks awesome for recipes, possibly would for fashion or interior design. I think Writing lacks something but Newspaper looks like it offers many options. I will definitely consider this.
What do you think about MyBlog? https://demo.mythemeshop.com/s/?theme=MyBlog
Thanks.

Avada theme is a really comprehensive one. It has been used for more than a few years which is really nice when you're looking for support as most question will have been already answered. It works very well with Wordpress and comes integrated with page builders and sliders.
The reason why I also really like it is because you can install your favorite demo, and just work over the existing content rather than starting from scratch, but even then with fusion page builder it takes a few minutes to build a page layout with drag and drop. Also, once you install the theme you'll basically have instruction videos with-in the theme settings for most set-up tasks or questions.
I recommend checking out the demos so you can understand the features available with in.

Newspaper

At what point to stop comments on a blog? Do too many comments hurt the page?
I have a page that's ranking pretty well, and driving sales. That page is starting to get 10+ comments per day and is starting to get quite long. I was wondering if there is a point where I should disable the comments? My gut tells me that people interacting with the page, and Google seeing responses with the users SHOULD be a good thing not bad. But, then I think that a majority of the content of the page is no longer the article, but the comments. All the comments are good, non spammy and directly related to the topic. People just asking questions, etc. Good engagement, I should be happy right?

Best way to handle blogs for a customer with a chain business?
I have a new customer who owns three local gyms. Each one has its own unique url. I intend to do some blogging for him, and would like it to be effective for SEO. Obviously, publishing duplicate content is out, but writing tons of new posts each month is beyond our scope. Would you recommend having one separate blog (with its own url) that is linked from each of the 3 main sites, or would it be better to create a blog on each site and alternate publishing articles on each one, putting a unique intro and link to the main post on the other two?

Could posting on YouMoz get you penalized for "Guest Blogging?"
From my understanding, Matt Cutts hates guest blogging, so I told all of the attorneys here not to write anywhere but on our blog. However, I realized people are constantly "guest blogging' on Moz, and considering how smart these people are, it must not be hurting them or they wouldn't do it. However, what I don't understand is why? Yes, I do get that the quality of what's on YouMoz is high and not spammy, but I got the impression that didn't really matter. Guest blogging would get you into trouble no matter what. Can someone clarify for me? Thanks, Ruben

I work on a uk decorating website with five of our own bloggers all of which reside on the home page of the website on their own separete blogging urls as sub domains - is this a good idea or would google not like this from an seo point of view?
Should blogs that are part of an overall content site be on separate sites and link in or is it ok to promote them as content on the home page of the site and take users off to their own url to view the site. Is this good practise for seo?

Blog Benefits
I read a very interesting answer by Andy Solo to a previous question in which he replied: "Use your blog to create some Tips & How-To's, optimize those blog entries for the long tail keywords and soon enough your blog will be the gateway into your website. Learn how to target longl-tail keyword searches and how to analyze keyword competition to find the right niche blog posts to create". With my own company site, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk which has a long-standing blog attached, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk/blog I always felt that the blog content greatly aided our top positions in Google.co.uk. However, over the last 12 months we have slipped right down page one and I wondered if the blog is still helping our site or if the emphasis/value has switched and Google is looking at a lot of other factors where we score badly? Can I delete an old blog post and be ok?
I wrote some blog posts on my wordpress blog a few years ago that I no longer want on my site. I have them "no index" and "no follow" but everytime I run a report on my site they still seem to pop up. If I just delete the posts will it result in a broken link for my site? Or is there another way I can go about it? Thanks guys

How often should I write a blog post?
I'm sure this has been asked before but I've searched for it in the Q&A Forum and couldn't find any relevant answer. I was thinking that a weekly post would suffice for my blog because the audience isn't one which would be checking frequently + there aren't very many new developments in the industry I'm in that would necessitate more than that. However, I was told that if I can't blog consistently 2-3 times per week, I really shouldn't start a blog, as it would need that much posting. Thoughts on this?

Blogging competition - risky link acquiring method?
We are planning to launch a competition where bloggers can blog about our products and about our company. One winner will be selected to win a gift card to our web shop. In order to participate the blogger has to put a link to the blog post that points to our front page or into one of our product pages. Does Google have a guideline against such "link acquiring" methods?
