Review Microdata if the product does not have a review
-
We have many products that do not have reviews and are causing warnings in googles microdata. Is there anything you can do for products without a review so you don't get errors for aggregate review or review??
-
Ah, sorry, I misunderstood.
"Review" is only a recommended property of "Product", so while you will get a warning, it should not be detected as an error and won't affect the structured data being parsed.
-
If there is no review it is not outputing any aggregate review or reviews if there are no reviews, but google is giving a warning for now having the microdata since the type is product. I wasn't sure if there was some sort of null value or not rated.
-
I assume you mean that your code is outputting empty review when there are no reviews? Are you using a plugin, or is it custom code?
If it's a plugin, I would suggest speaking with the plugin developer or raising it via their feature request process.
If it's custom code, then I'm afraid it is down to you! If there is no review for that product, don't output the microdata!

Ctr question with home page and product pages
do you believe that the advantage of targeting a search term on the home page is now worse off than before? as I understand it ctr is a big factor now And as far as i can see if two pages are equal on page etc the better ctr will win out, the issue with the home page is the serp stars cannot be used hence the ctr on a product page will be higher? I feel if you where able to get a home page up quicker (1 year instead of two) you still lost out in the end due to the product page winning on ctr? do you think this is correct?

Multiple products with legitimate duplicate descriptions
We are redeveloping a website for a card company who have far too many products to write unique descriptions for each. Even if they could I don't think it would be beneficial to the user. However they do have unique descriptions for each range which is useful for users viewing an individual card. Which is better practice: a) Ignore the duplicate content issue and supply the user with info about the range b) Provide clear enticing links to find out more about the range which will leave the individual card page a little void of content. Many thanks

Schema.org Microdata or Microformats - Which Should We Use
Hi All, I'm wondering what would be the better alternative - schema.org microdata or microformats. I am aware that search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing recognize Schema.org as the standard. Question is, will it have any negative affect? Our web developer here says that schema.org microdata may result in negative html. I don't think that it will affect our SEO, but I guess that's also something to shed some light on. So, what's the consensus here - should we implement schema.org or go with microformats - or, does it really make any difference?

Google Shopping Blocking All Vitamins and Natural Products - Glitch or Deliberate Censorship?
Hi everyone. We have a client that manufactures and supplies dietary supplements all around the world. We are slightly concerned that a recent Google shopping glitch (or change) is now seemingly excluding products from the shopping search results. This currently appears only to be happening in the US but we are really concerned, as our client ships all over the world and the potential loss of revenue could be quite large. There is already a YouTube video that demonstrates what is going on which is available below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNDyS0tF4dY Just to clarify, these are products that should not be included in any of Google's “sensitive” categories as they currently stand. Taking Vitamin B12 as an example, it is recognised as a permissible dietary supplement within pretty much every regulatory framework around the world, including those governed by the US FDA, The Euopean Commission and the Australian TGA. Therefore there would be no legal reasons to prevent it's inclusion in shopping results in any country. Has this just slipped under the radar or can anyone point us to a resource that may be able to clarify why this has happened? Thanks in advance guys!

Importance of Product Review Syndication?
Greetings everyone I have been tasked to do research on just how important it is to have product reviews syndicated with Google's (star rating found in Google Shopping). I am unable to find any research reports or studies on this nor any quantitative data on it's impact, beneficial or otherwise. If any of you folks have any first hand experiences, perhaps some before and after figures, that would be great. Thanks
