How to rank a website in different countries
-
I have a website which I want to rank in UK, NZ and AU and I want to keep my domain as .com in all the countries. I have specified the lang=en now what needs to be done to rank one website in 3 different English countries without changing the domain extension i.e. .com.au or .com.nz
-
To rank your website in multiple English-speaking countries without changing the domain extension, you can follow these steps:
Localize your content: Ensure that your website content is tailored to the specific countries you are targeting (UK, NZ, AU). This includes using country-specific spellings, terminologies, and references.
Use hreflang tags: Implement hreflang tags on your web pages to indicate the language and country targeting. This helps search engines understand which version of your content is intended for each country. For example, you can specify hreflang="en-GB" for the UK, hreflang="en-NZ" for New Zealand, and hreflang="en-AU" for Australia.
Create country-specific landing pages: Develop unique landing pages for each country, optimizing them for relevant local keywords, search intent, and user preferences. These pages should provide location-specific information, such as pricing, availability, and local contact details.
Obtain country-specific backlinks: Build backlinks from reputable websites within each target country to enhance your website's local authority. Engage in outreach campaigns, guest posting, or collaborations with local influencers or businesses to obtain relevant backlinks.
Leverage local directories and citations: List your business on popular local directories and citation websites in each country. Ensure that your NAP (Name, Address, Phone Number) information is consistent across all directories. This can help improve your local search visibility.
Optimize for local search: Utilize local SEO techniques to increase your visibility in each country. This includes optimizing your Google My Business profile, including accurate business information, photos, and encouraging customer reviews. Additionally, consider targeting location-specific keywords and creating location-specific content.
Monitor and analyze performance: Regularly track your website's performance using analytics tools, such as Google Analytics or Search Console. Analyze the data to identify areas for improvement, such as high-performing keywords, user engagement metrics, or potential technical issues.
Remember that ranking in different countries requires ongoing effort, and it may take time to see results. It's important to consistently monitor and adjust your SEO strategies based on the performance and feedback you receive.

You have to target each country step by step.
Let' say you want to rank in UK.
-
First, you have to search out on which Keywords you want to rank on and then then you'll embed those Keywords in your content. The lesser the KD the more it'll be easier for you to rank.
-
Then, you need to create backlinks on that particular Keywords keeping in mind the anchor text. Let's "oil and gas training courses in Dubai". First, you'll check its KD and then you start to embed this in your content on specific places and will build proper backlinks on this anchor.
-
And do proper interlinking of your articles.
and that's it you'll start seeing results in almost 1- 2 months depending upon your keyword difficulty.

I would recommend the following:
-
list item Ensure you can choose the correct currency in each language. No one will purchase something in the UK if prices are in New Zealand Dollars.
-
list item Detect the country to determine currency and postage options. This way visitors will spend longer on your site, which is an important part of ranking.
-
list item Mention the countries you're targeting once on each page. This called be 'free delivery in the UK, New Zealand and Australia' for example.
-
list item Write specific blog posts targeting your core keywords plus one of the countries only. This way you have different landing pages for each keyword. Include plenty of links to and images of products in your blog.
-
list item Consider creating 3 'Best selling items by country' pages. This way you also have unique landing pages for each country.
-
list item Ensure you don't mention currencies or countries by default in your metatags if you're using cookies to change them.
I hope this helps! You can see some additional tips on https://www.indigoextra.com/blog/international-seo.

Hi @Ravi_Rana , this gets a little tricky as your content will likely not be localised. Off the top of my head, 3 things you can do are:
- Have a section dedicated to your product/service for each country on all pages.
- Get backlinks from local websites in each country, anchor text should include the country name. Also list yourself on local directories.
- Use local biz schema to list your office/store in each country.
^as with SEO in general, this ideas are subjective. If you are not in a competitive niche and have gathered sufficient authority, then you may not need all to take all these extra steps.

Hi, @Fabian001 thanks for your time and I really appreciate your response. I was discussing with the team and they said since all the countries are English, we will not create the sub folder i.e. xyz.com/au or xyz.com/nz we will keep the domain xyz.com only. What can be done in this situation?
-
@Ravi_Rana if you are retaining the .com domain, then I recommend creating sub folders for each country. Duplicate your website's content and localise the content. Then use hreflang tags formatted as language - country.
Example for your UK page variant, would have hreflang tags as follows:
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="en-au" href="https://example.com/au/" />
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="en-nz" href="https://example.com/nz/" />Also do insert 1 more hreflang tag for x-default, pointing to the default page to be shown to users outside of these 3 countries.
Do really localise the content as its possible that Google ignores your hreflang tag if the content is too similar.

Reputable Place For Guest Posts
We do our SEO in-house, and I don't have the time for blogger outreach. Does anyone know of a reputable place where I can submit our content to be pitched to relevant outlets for backlinks and US traffic? I am not in it for someone creating our content; I write it myself and have a degree in the content I produce. I am looking for a place that gets REAL US traffic, not some P.B.N. sites or those where I can create accounts at a post myself. I want real traffic from relevant, reputable blogs or a place where I can have them use my content and find niche sites for me.

Only my homepage ranks for my keywords, should I delete my other pages?
I am an independent artist and all of my business inquiries come through my website (www.ChrisCarlsonArt.com). Over the last 6 months I have been trying to get pages other than my homepage to rank for my keywords, but I haven't made any progress. I worry that I am cannibalizing my keywords since my pages all have similar information. Should I just delete my other pages and focus on ranking my homepage? Also, if I delete my other pages will that have a negative impact on my rankings?

Will skipping <H> tags affect your SEO?
Will skipping <H> tags on a page have any impact on your SEO, e.g. skipping a <H2> so your page has a <H1> and then goes to a <H3>? Obviously a page must have a <H1>, but does it matter if you skip other headings?
