403 Forbidden Crawl report
-
Hi,
I am getting 403 forbidden crawl report on some of my pages. However the pages are loading fine. Also when asked my web developer told that some times reports show errors when there is nothing wrong. Also will the errors affect the SEO/Ranking etc.

I have a locks business website about locksmith Tampa Florida
we are facing the same issue on the Main page -
A 403 Forbidden error means that the server denied access to the requested page. This can happen for a few reasons, such as:
- The user does not have permission to access the page.
- The page is not published yet.
- There is a misconfiguration on the server.
If you are getting 403 Forbidden errors on your website, it is important to first check that the pages are actually loading fine for users. You can do this by visiting the pages yourself or by using a tool like Google Search Console.
If the pages are loading fine for users, then the errors in the crawl report are likely false positives. This can happen if Googlebot encounters a temporary error when crawling your website. In this case, you can ignore the errors and they should eventually go away.
However, if the pages are not loading fine for users, then the errors in the crawl report are likely real. In this case, you need to fix the underlying issue that is causing the 403 Forbidden errors.
Here are some steps you can take to fix 403 Forbidden errors:
- Check the permissions on the files and folders that contain the pages that are returning 403 Forbidden errors. Make sure that the user account that Googlebot is using has permission to access these files and folders.
- Check the robots.txt file to make sure that Googlebot is not being explicitly denied access to the pages that are returning 403 Forbidden errors.
- Check the server configuration to make sure that there are no misconfigurations that could be causing the 403 Forbidden errors.
If you have tried all of these steps and you are still getting 403 Forbidden errors, then you may need to contact your web hosting provider for assistance.
Will the 403 errors affect the SEO/Ranking
As for whether or not 403 Forbidden errors will affect your SEO/ranking, it depends on a few factors.
-
If the pages that are returning 403 Forbidden errors are important pages for your website, then the errors could potentially have a negative impact on your SEO and ranking.
-
However, if the pages that are returning 403 Forbidden errors are not important pages for your website, then the errors are unlikely to have a significant impact on your SEO and ranking.
It is best to fix 403 Forbidden errors as soon as possible. This will help to ensure that Googlebot can access all of the pages on your website and that your website is crawlable and indexable.
Warm Regards

Duplicate Page Titles in Crawl Errors (although Google is rewriting in serps ??)
Hi Im working on a client/project and crawl report is showing thousands of dupe page titles In the case of the blog/news section its aprox 50 since aprox 50 posts and they all have the same meta-title: "Brand News | Brand" as opposed to: "Title Unique to Page/Topic/KW Relating to Content | Brand" Since these are the main content pages we want to rank (in addition to the main site category pages) then i have instructed dev must prioritise populating these pages meta-titles with the actual post/article titles, as per the latter version of the above example. (I should mention that i have requested they fix all dupe titles but main content pages are the priority). Whilst this will reduce the number of dupe titles in crawl error/warning report which is a good thing, is it actually likely to increase the ranking of these news/content pages given that Google does seem to be rewriting the titles correctly in the serps based on the page content ? Many Thanks in advance for your input

Ok to ignore Overly-Dynamic URL from Moz crawl?
I am developing an ecommerce site, just ran it through the Moz crawl to see what's what and it has come back with a lot of issues. Most of these issues are around duplicate page titles (it is not happy with paginated titles, ie Shoes, Shoes Page 2, Shoes Page 3 etc) and it has also found a lot of Overly-Dynamic URL's. Again, these seem to be from some of the search functions and filters used Accessories&pto_sort=priceAsc&pto_page=6 other than spending a lot of time and effort trying to rewrite these urls there is little I can do about them. Should I just ignore this? I wouldn't imagine it having a massive impact on the rankings of the pages. Thanks, Carl

On Page Grade Reports - Which to optimize first?
I'm wanting to prioritize my on-page optimization efforts by doing the work that will have the most impact first. Let's say, hypothetically, that this was my on-page report card: Grade A - 60 reports
On-Page Optimization | | justin-brock
Grade B - 20 reports
Grade C - 70 reports
Grade D - 70 reports
Grade F - 300 reports Where is the biggest opportunity for increasing good traffic? Doing more work on Grade A pages to ensure I continue to rank Moving mid-grade pages up to high-grade pages (e.g., raising a B to A, or a C to B) Moving low-grade pages up to mid-grade pages (e.g., raising a D to C, or a F to D)0 -

On-Page Report Card refresh problem
I have noticed that on the On-Page Report Card, refresh does not work at all. Namely, when I make a change after receiving a suggestion, it does not change at all. I remember that option worked almost instantly before which helped me make an optimized page quickly. Also, I have seen that meta tags are not desirable and when I want to remove them, I have quotation marks left instead of meta keywords and an error reported. These are the most important issues for now, especially the refreshing issue since I tried deleting data from cash memory and all the other available options such as changing the browser etc. I have also tried deleting key words and repeating the grading on on-page report card but had no results. Exiting SEOmoz and re-entering also gave no results. Kasa

N/A For On-page SEO Report
I have 8 errors and 44 warnings last week. Over the week, I corrected broken links, duplicate titles, meta tags, and duplicate page content. Now after it was run again, I'm getting an N/A. Does N/A mean there are NO errors at all on the site? I didn't fix all of the errors and warnings but most I did. My website is also up and running. Please let me know if I'm missing something or if I did that good of a job for my client's on-page SEO stuff, which I doubt despite moving the needle forward. Thanks

I built a website on magentogo - IrisScottPrints.com. The seomoz crawl report states 301 rel canonical crawl notices. What if anything should I change?
Wondering if I should remove "IRIS SCOTT PRINTS |" from all the title tags and/or change the url structure of the pages, to not include the breadcrumbs... I don't really understand the whole rel canonical structure thing. Also lots of errors on page title too long - does that really matter? Lots of faith in everyone here. Thanks in advance. Marcia
