Unsolved Term Brand Authority Assesses?
-
If your brand name (e.g., "Example Brand Name") is different from your brand's domain (e.g. "www.ebn.com"), does the Brand Authority tool measure authority for "Example Brand Name" or "EBN"? Thanks!
-
The Brand Authority tool measures authority for the brand name, not the domain. This is because Brand Authority is a measure of the overall strength and influence of a brand, regardless of its website domain.
So, if your brand name is "Example Brand Name" and your domain is "www. ebn .com", the Brand Authority tool will measure authority for "Example Brand Name".
This is important to note, because it means that you can build Brand Authority even if you have a new or unpopular domain. By creating high-quality content, engaging with your audience on social media, and earning backlinks from high-authority websites, you can boost your Brand Authority and improve your visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs).

@PRAComms This may vary case by case, depending on the strength of the brand, but the good news is that the Brand Authority model is designed to recognize both.
We don't try to detect a brand name based on the domain name itself. We look at all of the keywords the domain is ranking for and analyze those rankings/SERPs for signals that tell us that Google thinks those keywords have navigational or brand intent. Ultimately, this can cover variations of the brand name, queries containing a part of the brand name, and even recognizable products and services.
For example, for TSA.gov, the Brand Authority algorithm recognizes that both "TSA" and "Transportation Security Administration" represent the brand, as well as brand-specific queries like "TSA customer service." Even more interestingly, IMO, is that it can spot the brand relevance of searches like "PreCheck" and "TWIC card."
So, it's complicated, but in summary: All of the above.

Redirection of 100 domain to Main domain affects SEO?
Hi guys, An email software vendor managed by a different area of my company redirected 100 domains used for unsolicited email campaigns to my main domain. These domains are very likely to get blacklisted at some point. My SEO tool now is showing me all those domains as "linking" to my main site as do-follow links. The vendor states that this will not affect my main domain/website in any way. I'm highly concerned. I would appreciate your professional opinion about this. Thanks!!

Is domain forwarding the same as a 301 redirect?
Hi, I have an older domain with some SEO auth for varying pages and a newer domain that is for the brand. Right now there are some 301s for about 13 pages and we are currently moving servers. I was wondering if domain forwarding is the same as writing 301 redirects for each page or is it something different (302)?

"Branded Reports" not branded email
I am a new Moz customer and specifically chose the $149 plan to get "branded reports" My Logo shows on the pdf report but when that report is emailed to the client there is a big black banner at the top of the email that says MOZ! I chose branded reports so that the customer would see my branding not MOZ. This is very frustrating and there does not seem to be a solution from MOZ, I know that you can send the email with my return email address but why do you have to put the MOZ branding in the email.

Domain Authority Drops
Hi Is anyone else seeing a drop in DA across the board ? Has Moz changed the criteria/scoring method ?. I have a client/project that naturally achieved some great links from high authority sites on contextual pages yet the DA has dropped by 2 points in the month or two since, when i would expect it to have gone up or at least stayed the same. In addition the link profile has otherwise improved with an increase in subnets, ips, links, domains etc etc so combined with above would certainly expect a rise in DA Anyone else experiences similar or someone from Moz can confirm if scoring method changed or possibly not yet discovered these links ? All Best Dan
