Vjay - good question
I think it really depends on the quality of the directory. I think that relevant (industry specific) directories are generally ok as long as they are high quality and not rife with spam.
There are also some credible directories still such as yahoo directory, best of the web, etc. So if you can find a decent one with decent inbound links and a solid auditing process, then why not.

Local SEO - Directory Submissions Not Counting Towards External Links
I'm trying to raise the authority of a clients website. Â It's a local business so I'm submitting it to various applicable high authority business directories to earn more external links. Â I've submitted it to about 15 directories so far; however when I run Moz's Open Site Explorer, it doesn't state that any of these directories are linking. Â It's been about 3 weeks now so I assume that's enough time for the directory submissions to be indexed by Google. Â Has anyone else run into this problem, and if so how did you solve this so these links are counted?

Article submission to multiple directories
We know the general consensus among the crowd here is to avoid free article submission directories. But we have to do this as part of our overall deliverables and have hit a roadblock. A couple of our agencies are insisting that we submit one article to multiple sites - which we contend would trigger duplicate content issue and render all links useless. Any feedback on submitting one article to multiple article sites?

Local Personal training studio needs SEO advice. Is directory submission they way forwards?
I have a local personal training business and am struggling to push our website to the top of local personal training searches despite already having a better domain and trust score than almost all of the higher ranked competitors. The website has only been live around 4 months but I was wondering if submitting to paid directories would help me to rank on page one? our website is www.danielalexandra.com

Links from Directory's
I have been looking at the Directory's recommended on the SEOMOZ site. All of those that I have looked into do not appear to have a page rank for the actual page that my link would be appearing on. They all appear to offer N/A as the reply. Is this a problem? Thanks in advance for any replies!

Why don't directory backlinks show up in Open Link Explorer?
Why don't we see linking root domains like yelp, google, yahoo, etc? Is there any way to get a more accurate list of links to a domain where webmaster tools are not an option?

Are directories still an option for linkbuilding
I know that after the recent slate of Google updates, many free directories got taken down. We've typically used the list of directories placed on SEOmoz (www.seomoz.org/directories). Â Before adding a site to a directory, we always check to see if it is indexed by Google. Is this still a safe option or should directories be avoided?

Anyone have Free Directories with High Domain Authority they'd like to share?
I was just curious if anyone had any directories they'd like to share that carry high Domain Authority(imo: 70+)? I know about dmoz.org and Pegasus but other than that, none. Thanks.

Which Directory Sites to Choose?
Hi All I am a newbie to SEO and have a quick Q. Assuming that appropriate steps would be to; a) Ensure all onsite matters are are correct, title tags, meta descriptions, redirects, canonical issues. b) Submit to Directories c) Build Links I am approaching step b) Which Directories are worth submitting to? For those which require payment, how can I decide which are value for money or should I just use SEOMOZ list of links and assume that theyre worth the $50 - $100 if my higher ranking competitors have links from these directories. Also, can this be looked opon as grey/black hat 'buying of links'? Thank you Sean www.pretavoir.co.uk
