On another side note, the authors often upload PDF's from other sources like government bodies etc. I've told them to set them to nofollow for the PDF's which they're now doing. Is there a quick way to do nofollow on all the PDF's uploaded to the site or will I need to do it manually?

They also sometimes repost (copy and paste) articles from their partners. Is there an easy (and free) way to scan the whole site and see which pages are duplicates from another site need canonical URL's?

What is the best way to fix the canonical domain issue? Were you refering to the blog (news.nur...) or main site?

@Micheal / @Andy, I really didn't want to be on a sub domain (theres actually an earlier discussion i've had about ways around this) but the dev we're working with can't host PHP on the server so he's forced us to use a sub domain if we want to use wordpress...

We definitely haven't been ranking that well at all and I know theres a lot that needs to be done to improve the on page SEO. I did just add yoast and updated the /tag / category.

For the current issue with the PDF, I'm thinking to do the following:

• Update the PDF, to make it more current
• Create a unique article.
• Then upload the new PDF to the blog, and do a 301 redirect from the old PDF

Do you think this pass the link juice to the sub domain?

I've been checking out webmaster tools (screenshot attached) and noticed that we're getting loads of long tail searches around a search query 'arterial and venous leg ulcers' - on a side note we're a nursing organisation so excuse the content of the search!!!

The trouble is that google is indexing a PDF page which we give out as a freebie:

This PDF is a couple of years old and needs updating but its got a few links pointing to it.

Ok so down to the nitty gritty, we've just launched a blog:
http://news.nursesfornurses.com.au/Nursing-news/

We have a whole wound care category in which this content belongs, and i'm trying to find the best way to take advantage of the search, so I was thinking:

1. Create an article of about 1000 words
2. Update the PDF and re-upload it to the main domain (not the sub domain news.nursesfornurses.com.au)
3. Attach the PDF to the article on the blog

OR would it be better to host this on the blog, and setup a 301 redirect to this page?

I just need some advice on how best to take advantage of this opportunity, our blog isn't getting much search traffic at the moment (despite having 300+ articles!!) and i'm looking into how we can change that.

Should I be expecting to see a decrease in rankings, even if I do 301 redirects from all the blog posts to the new ones..?

Righto, so:

I've been working on our company website www.nursesfornurses.com.au which is built on .asp which is a real pain because the site is built so messy and on a very dated CMS which means I have to go back to the dev every time I want to make a change.

We've made the decision to move the site over to Wordpress in stages. So, (and I hope logically), i've started by making them a proper blog with better architecture to start targeting industry related keywords.

I had to put it on a sub domain as the current hosting does not support Wordpress http://news.nursesfornurses.com.au/Nursing-news/
The previous blog is here: http://www.nursesfornurses.com.au/blog

Its not live yet, so I'm just looking for SEO advice or issues I might encounter by having the blog on a sub domain. In terms of user experience, I realise that there needs a clearer link back to the main website, I'm just trying to work out the best way to do it...

Any advice / criticism is greatly welcomed.

I agree, there is a lot of room for improvement. Its written on an old .aspx CMS platform and i'm having a real nightmare trying to get used to it.. It ain't no Wordpress - that much is clear!

Page titles + descriptions were the first things I was going to get started on, I've just been defining the core keywords before I get going!

Our company sells educational videos to Nurses via subscription.

I've been looking at their video search results page: 
http://www.nursesfornurses.com.au/cpd

When you click on a category, the URL appears like this:
http://www.nursesfornurses.com.au/cpd?view=category&cat=9&name=Acute+Surgical+Nursing
http://www.nursesfornurses.com.au/cpd?view=category&cat=6&name=Medications

Would this be an instance where i'd use the canonical tag to redirect each search results page?

Bearing in mind the /cpd page is under /Nursing cpd, and that /Nursing cpd is our best performing page in search engines, would it be better to refer it to the 'Nursing CPD' rather than 'CPD' page?

Any advice is very welcome,

Heyy..

New to the Moz community, first question so here goes!

I'm going to be running an email campaign with an e-magazine and I want to know how to track conversions from the email they're sending out so I can monitor success/failure.

I've found Google's URL builder:
