Thanks a mill for the reply really appreciate it. Based on your suggestion I will keep the redirects in place simply just in case in case there is links on other website leading to our pages and I don't want them going to a 404.

3 months we updated our site design design and as such lots of page urls changed. At the time we 301 redirected about 100 pages. (All pages are on the same domain - 301 redirects like .com/about-us/company to .com/company)

Anyhow my question is should I leave these redirects active indefinitely or kill them assuming value has passed through by now?

As per your suggestion, yes I could redirect multiple 404's to one page on the new site as the content would be relevant to the end user. As per pages that have no relevancy any-more I think I will just allow them to drop from the index.

We recently did a website upgrade and as a result url structure changed. There is 140 404's in Google webmaster. Just wondering on best best practice.

1. What should be done with pages that are defiantly not being used any more? For example we used to how .com/why-choose-us* this section is gone for Good - Should I redirect to closest page on site such as .com/about or noindex all together?

2. We also had lots of pages that were on a similar topic but now have condensed these into one or two pages on the new site. Is it OK to 301redirect 10+ 404's to one page on the new site. These will only be redirected to closely related topics so from a user point of view the new presented content will be fine. (Is this bad from a search engine point of view as in pointing lots of old 404's to one particualr page on new site)

I do a few things: Track within my SEOmoz campaign account, SEOpowersuite. Then when I manually check I use Google search incognito browser.

The keywords in question are Turnstiles it generally moves around the first 3 top spots of Google then some weeks falls down to position 7. (it's at 7 right now in Google.ie). The other term is time and attendance software (This fell from position 1 to 11).  Again usually hangs around the top of Google.

Your thoughts are welcomed.

I have a group of keyword that constantly move within the Google SERP.

One week they are in the top 3 spots the next they fall down to position 7+ (in some cases they even fall 20 places) then after this they eventually go back to their most regular position within the top 3 spots.

Can anyone please explain why this keep happening?

Hi Irving, Yes GEO Targeting is already set up in Webmaster tools.

Is that enough to put the same content on on both websites?

We have 2 websites .com & .ie (both are more or less identical except 2 different markets). How can I avoid duplicate blog content as lots of our .com/blog and .ie/blog is the same?

Maybe....

Our main .com blog articles are searchable then on our .ie blog content non searchable? (This way both markets get to view the content but only Google actually searches our .com blog)

Alliteratively I would need to rewrite each article so that is unique
