I have a website that aggregates deals from various daily deals site. I originally had all the deals on one page /deals, however I thought that maybe it might be more useful to have several pages e.g. /beautydeals or /hoteldeals. However if I give every section it's own page that means I have either no current deals on the main /deals page or I will have duplicate content. I'm wondering what might be the best approach here? A few of the options that come to mind are:

1. Return to having all the deals on one page /deals and linking internally to content within that page
2. Have both a main /deals page with all of the deals plus other pages such as /beautydeals, but add re="canonical" to point to the main /deals page
3. Create new content for the /deals page... however I think people will probably want to see at least some deals straight away, rather than having to click through to another page.
4. Display some sub-categories on the main /deals page, but have separate URLs for other more popular sub-categories e.g. /beautydeals (this is how it works at the moment)

I should probably point out that the site also has other content such as events and a directory. Any suggestions on how best to approach this much appreciated!

Actually there are only currently links to the pages with an actual 

description. I have disabled links to those with no description. The

way the site is set up at the moment means that a page is created, 

but not necessarily linked to

I think I'd have the same problem there would still be thousands of

artists (nevermind festivals etc).  I do want to list as many events

as possible and I think my users would prefer a comprehensive number

of listings without descriptions rather than a small number of event 

listings with descriptions. Some listings do have more substantial

My overall question is should I prevent Google from indexing pages

with little content (as the original example) or just let it 

do it's thang au naturale?

I have a website that lists events in Dublin, Ireland. I want to provide a comprehensive number of listings but there are not enough hours in the day to provide a detailed (or even short) unique description for every event. At the moment I have some pages with little detail other than the event title and venue. Should I try and prevent Google from crawling/indexing these pages for fear of reducing the overall ranking of the site? At the moment I only link to these pages via the RSS feed.

I could remove the pages entirely from my feed, but then that mean I remove information that might be useful to people following the events feed.

I have a few images that I have taken recently and I was wondering what might be the best way to use them. Ideally I would like to get a few links or some interest via social networks. I know I've a few options including:

• adding images directly to the website
• adding images to Flickr or similar
• adding images to Google+
• adding images to Facebook
• adding images to twitpic or similar

I was also intending in keeping some images to include directly in posts.

Should I concentrate posting images directly on the site or use social networks? Which social networks work well for images? How can I use images to get links?

That seems pretty reasonable and in tune with what I was thinking myself. Unfortunately I think if I want to provide users with a complete list of events I will have to probably include some press release material. A couple of further related questions might be:

• Should I be trying to prevent search bots from crawling pages if the content is not original (by using noindex tag and/or use of robots.txt file)?
• I wonder if the syndication-source tag might be more relevant than the canonical tag?

I have a site that lists events. I ask those submitting events to submit original content if possible, but frequently they submit press releases which are already published elsewhere. I rewrite some of the press releases, but do not have time to rewrite every press release that comes my way. I want my users to get a comprehensive list of events, but I don't want get a penalty for duplicate content. What is the best solution?

Thanks for the reply. As far as I can see comments only come out in HTML if you use their plugin in Wordpress (possibly other blogging software too). If you are not using blogging software the results are in javascript and hence probably not very SEO friendly. That said, I have seen possible suggestions of ways of making Disqus comments indexable using data synchronization.

Facebook comments are definitely another option.

I like the look of Disqus for handling comments but I'm not sure if it is really SEO friendly. Any other more SEO friendly alternatives out there (other than blogging software)?
