Favorite Thing about SEO
Honesty and quality are rewarded.
In 2006, I started learning about web dev. This included iWeb, Mambo and Joomla, and then WordPress and the associated LAMP stack technologies.
In 2007, I began working full time in paid search and web analytics. This included a focus on AdWords, Yahoo!, and AdCenter/Bing Ads.
In 2008, I slowly began learning SEO while working alongside an SEO colleague.
In 2009, I became a part time PPC consultant.
In 2011, I left my full time job as an analyst to consult PPC clients full time.
In 2012, I began helping small businesses with SEO and where it was relevant to my PPC clients' needs. The demand for SEO support was hard to ignore when businesses kept asking for things I knew how to do.
I decided to help agencies when they needed help on boarding new clients. This helped me learn how different agencies worked and what they seemed to think were "best practices" at that time. This was mostly with PPC but also SEO, content creation and marketing, and social media.
I continue to support and advise direct clients, agencies, and others mostly with PPC, SEO, and web analytics, however, I also work closely with various content and social teams.
I do not provide professional web dev services as a general rule. I would love to partner with a few agencies or freelancers to form something mutually beneficial regarding leads and whatnot. I am not even going to compete with today's UX designers and other front end artists!
In my spare time I focus on learning more about WordPress, all of inbound marketing -- especially how to improve the UX of my content, and I maintain and grow my knowledge of PPC, SEO, and web analytics.
