RE: More pages is good for SEO? Is this true?
Hi Justin,
If the pages are duplicated ones or don't have relevant content is a waste of google crawl budget.
One of the things I do always when I start an audit is check a crawl of the site with the access in analytics and the logs (access of the bots) to see the useful and useless pages for SEO.
With this data you can take better decisions.
Hope it helps

RE: Root domain not resolving to www. Duplicate content?
Yes, be careful with this.
Modify the .htaccess and redirect the example.com page to the www.example.com page.

Bye!

RE: Any way around buying hosting for an old domain to 301 redirect to a new domain?
The .htaccess that have the information about the A domain is inside B hosting, so, you don't need anymore A hosting when you do all the redirections.
I think this post can help:

RE: Strategy for 301s/404s
Hi,
my approach is a little different:
I'm working with a job board and lots of job post are outdated every day.
I add a noindex tag in order to give google index only relevant pages. Also in these outdated pages we introduce similar job post to drive the user to another relevan job post for him or her.
If I should do a redirect I redirect to the category page but it's a little weird for the user I think.
Hope it helps.

RE: Multi- language URL best practices
I prefer to use mycompany.com / fr / if there is a common point of mycompany.com, although the language is different.
If eachcontent is different, perhaps you would use the issue within the subdomain
I'm thinking about the relevance transfer of subdomains and subfolders.
Regards.

Try google webmastertools and check the crawl analysis (<cite>www.google.com/webmasters/tools</cite>).

RE: Keyword analysis/optimization for blog sites (avoiding self cannibalization)
Hi,
This post describes this issue: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-solve-keyword-cannibalization
Try to use a hub page for the most generic keyword and the rest of the post with more specific keywords.
And use the report card an the competitive research tool too!.

RE: Seeing non-www in yahoo results - good or bad?
You must do a 301 redirect from non-www to the www version.
I think this post will help you (http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/canonicalization)

RE: Articles on our own site?
I know the both sides and I think in a bit of both. In the internal blog you can have more corporative information (and fresh content), and in the external blog you can point to the content with other aproach.
I hope this be helpfull.

RE: Which one is best? Parameters or Meta
Hi,
with this parameter, google don't check all these pages, because google think that are duplicate pages (and it's correct).
I think is better to use the meta's. This way you have the control.

RE: Newbie with a few questions
I don't understand this question, if you can clarify it it will be great.
You need use tags with the target keyword for the page that you want to optimize, but the structure of the page should use
**and <h2,...>tags,
I love this explanation: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/perfecting-keyword-targeting-on-page-optimization
3.
You can use the category like a hub, but only if these pages have content, if it's not the case, and you have duplicate content issues with these pages, you can use robots.txt to block the duplicate category page or robots tag in page.4.
Keep one of each pages and block the other ones5.
66 With the brand name. If the brand awareness is high remove it, but if you work on this awareness try to use the brand name in all your title tags with the 66 characters in mind.I hope it helps
Bye</h2,...>**

RE: Newbie with a few questions
Ok, I know, sorry,
These site links are selected by google, you only can select manually which one you don't want to show using Web Master Tools.
-
RE: Homepage canonicalized with trailing slash
If you can, yes. The last slash is responsible for about 1% of the link juice, and we don't want to miss more link juice!!!
Bye.

RE: New website
Hi,
If the 424 pages are important and have specific content, you need to redirect all the content. You can't loose anything.
If the content isn't specific, You should plan to remake new pages with more specific content and take care about all the SEO factors (check out all the SEOmoz tools).
Use Webmaster tools to comunicate google the new sitemap. Now Webmaster tools detect if you're using WP or other software.
I did the same the past month, but with a big website to HTML5 code and redirect all the content. The pages load faster and Google crawler reach more pages. In 2 weeks the web had the same positions (but with google penguin update I had a little Google dance contest)
Check your top pages and content and be careful with, plan all your content and menus (architectural page content) and check all on-page SEO factors.

Hope that helps ang good luck
