I have competitors in my vertical that comment for rank and I have actually seen a small percentage work. This method is usually done in a way that doesn't but when done effectively to gain ranks they usually get destroyed in branding. People don't like when you comment for rank so I would suggest finding a new tactic with less risk of backlash and damage to your brand.

Decreasing the size of a site to increase SEO value of remaining pages?
My website has thousands of pages and I have so many keywords on the bottom of page 1 and on page 2 of SERPs. I am considering making the site smaller to lessen the dilution of the overall domain authority and in theory the remainder pages should get pushed up in rank. Do you feel this theory is flawed? Is it better to 301 or remove the pages if they don't have backlinks directly to the internal page? These are pages I would re-enable down the road once overall domain authority is increased.
thanks,
David

RE: Missing Cache - very strange
Thanks for taking the time to respond. I was logged in but I also had three other people (different IPs) check the search and we all received the same result. We all also had &pws=0. One of my concerns and one reason we adjusted the page was page size. Did the page you have in mind have a large page size or a long load time?

Missing Cache - very strange
Anyone have experience with a cache going missing from a page that had a cache in the past? We’re overhauling a page and noticed the cache was gone from Google results. We don’t know if this event is good/bad/doesn’t matter but I am curious why this happens. I am positive the cache was missing before we updated the page today because a programmer mentioned they did try checking for a cache for a historical load time prior to today for a different project. I have attached two screenshots to illustrate two things:
1) What google delivers for a cache: of the page instead of the normal cache page
2) Even though you can see a cache of any of the indexed pages we have from a serp, the cached link is missing in serps for the mentioned page
Has anyone seen this before?
thanks!

SEOmoz application suggestion
I would like to suggest the ranking changes be broken into two categories, You and Competition, right now it seems everything is lumped in together... Screen shot attached.
Thanks.

Looks like your connection to Moz was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
