Donna credits her father with getting her 'into computers' back in the pre-Windows 'days of DOS' with his gift of her first computer and a subscription to AOL
"When my monthly online access bill became higher than my house payment (it was billed hourly back then - remember?) I realized this was more than a hobby, so I found a flat-rate ISP and headed back to school", Donna says.
Starting from the ground up - she earned College certification in Computer Architecture and Hardware, OS, Software and Networking before turning her focus on HTML and Internet Design. Donnas self-driven style, education and skills secured a founding position in the new and growing 'Internet Department' of a 'Major International Telecommunications Company', where she continued to advance and expand her expertise in internet Development, Design, Hosting and ISPs while gaining valuable Business, Marketing and Advertising experience.
"Talk about On-the-job training", Donna says, "Everything was new then - just having an Internet Department was cutting-edge, and being a woman working in an Internet Department was almost unheard of. I was so privileged to work with a small elite group of creative geniuses and we enjoyed virtual carte-blanche to learn and experiment as we launched the companies first of many online presences, and subsequent intranets, Sales, Billing and E-commerce Systems, Web Hosting and a Full-service ISP. It was a wonderful, exciting, scary time" she recalls.
With the support of some great mentors, family and friends, in the early 90’s Donna launched a successful part-time Freelance Web Design endeavor, which quickly developed into a full-time internet career.
