Favicon not showing in google serps
Hi,
I have a website where the favicon is not showing in the google mobile serps. It's appearing the default icon instead (world icon).
This is the tag I have place in the head section of the website:
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" />
The size of the favicon is 48x48 and it's appearing correctly in the browser tag.
I've checked that the google robot can crawl it and in the server logs I can see requests from the "Google Favicon" user-agent.
Has anyone had this same problem? Any advice?

RE: The New Link Explorer (which will replace Open Site Explorer) is Now in Beta
Many thanks for the update.
To be honest, I've always found OSE less useful for backlink analysis than some other tools available on the market like Ahrefs or Majestic, but Link Explorer seems to have reached the quality level of these other tools.

RE: Can I use rel="alternate" language tags on multiple domains?
Yes, you still need to include it, hreflang has nothing to do with html lang, in fact google ignores the html lang tags https://www.seroundtable.com/google-ignores-the-html-lang-attribute-22974.html

RE: Can I use rel="alternate" language tags on multiple domains?
Hi,
You have to include a reference to the page itself.
You can also use the hreflang tags along with self-referencing canonicals.

RE: Meta description duplication
Hi,
I don't think this is considered duplicate meta descriptions.
Fot example, if you take a look at what some popular websites for rent apartments are doing (Airbnb or homeaway,.. ), you will find that they use almost the same meta descriptions for rentals in different cities.
Regards.

RE: AMP Benefits
Hi,
According to what John Mueller has said in some different hangouts, AMP is not a ranking factor (at least for now).
If you a have a mobile-friendly website that currently load fast and is usable it is more than likely that you won’t see any boost in your rankings.

RE: URL Length
Hi,
75 characters.
“Choose shorter, human-readable URLs with descriptive keywords. We recommend keeping URLs under 75 characters. When possible, place content on the same subdomain to preserve authority. Optimal format: http://www.example.com/category-keyword/subcategory-keyword/primary-keyword.html.”
Kind regards

RE: Does "Disallow: /xmlrpc.php" in robots.txt affect moz tools ability to fetch DA?
Hi,
I don’t think that’s the reason of a low DA, xmlrpc.php it’s a file that for security lots of websites block even in htaccess for prevent access.
Do you check the domain age? It's a new website?

RE: Will I get Penelized for having a .co.uk site AND a .com site?
Hi,
You should use hreflang across the 2 different domains: https://sites.google.com/site/webmasterhelpforum/en/faq-internationalisation#q16
And I would change the content as much as posible to make it relevant to the targeted country.

International website - Image names
Hello All!
In an international website, it is recommended to have a copy of every image for every language in the website (with translate filenames)? or it is better to use only one copy of each image and change only the alt attributes?
Thanks for the help.

RE: How to stop Spam Referral Traffic?
A hostname filter is the best solution.

RE: Doubt with geoip redirection
Thanks for the answer Robert.
Yes, I´m using hreflang correctly and the serps of the different country versions shows the corresponding country folders.
i.e. google.co.uk shows results from the uk folder, google.fr shows the fr folder,…
The redirect only occurs on the homepage from mydomain.com to mydomain.com/fr, mydomain.com/uk,…..
If a user is in the French folder but is located in London isn’t redirect to the UK folder.

Doubt with geoip redirection
Hi everyone,
I managed an international site with subfolders for for the countries (us, uk, fr, ...). The homepage has a geoip redirection to the specific user country.
I've checked some old posts like this ones but it's not cleared for me if I should do a 301 or a 302 redirection.
- https://moz.com/community/q/geoip-and-redirects
I know that the best approach it’s avoid automatic redirections but it's not a possibility for me. So please, can you help me to decide what type of redirection should I use?

RE: Spam link? Links from linguee
In the search console I have 900 links from different linguee domains and I not sure if I have to take actions.
After reading this post and the previous one I'm not sure what to do.
Does anyone has any experience to share about linguee links?
