I am checking my competition with all the metrics available and I have no clue why we are not coming up higher in  ranking on Google. It's been 3 months and we've been bouncing between 9 and 7 position. One competitor just came out of nowhere with almost 600 internal links and few external links and occupied 3rd spot. I've built pretty good portfolio of links with links even coming from Google for crying out loud. My on page optimization is very good, we've even passed W3C with no errors. At least 3 of our competitors above us have less Domain Authority, Page Authority, Back links for external domains, number of external domains, etc... Not sure what is going on. We are not really trying to be the top dog in Google all the time, but it is the principle of a thing. Keyword is Laser Marking. Our domain starts with cms. Don't want to type the whole URL because Google might crawl (maybe a bit of paranoid at this point LOL) Any suggestions?

Has anyone had this happen? My page (just one page) is gone from the search results. Not only did we lose our position in Google (we were #9) now the entire page is completely gone from Google index. However, It is on the first page of Bing and Yahoo. We did have our server down from Friday to Monday. I went into Google webmaster tools on Monday and saw a big X next to sitemap. It said HTTP Error 404 detected on August 21, 2011. So Google went in on Sunday and came up with the error. But why only one page is missing and all the other pages still show up? I was thinking that page was blacklisted by Google but when I went to Webmaster Tools to listen to "Requesting reconsideration of your site" video all they talk about is the "site" being blacklisted not a particular page. Any one has any ideas?

I have been hitting my head again the wall trying to figure out why Google does not move my page up. All the SEOMOZ numbers show that the page has higher authority than the competition, more links, more domain authority, older domain, and higher Page rank. In addition the page is error free and I've gotten a W3C HTML 4.01 approval. About a month ago We were at #10 , then after the changes I've made to content and the page Google moved the page to #8, Now the Page is back to #9. I've done plenty of SEO to drive traffic to the page and created some very powerful and quality links. However, it seems like the page is being punished for something. Much weaker competitors are outranking our page and I am not sure why. On page optimization, title tags, Meta Tags, keyword density, etc - everything is there. In fact I have a check list that I go by and everything is by the book. Not only that, one competitor now shows up twice. First the domain and then specific page. I've looked into specific page and all they did is create 600 internal links from their own website. Has anyone used PRWeb for press releases? Especially their basic plan. The link for the site itself is very valuable but I am more concerned about their distribution network. Any success with this site or any other? Thanks

I've been analyzing my competition and found some great directories with High DAs that require the Reciprocal code to be on the same domain as the submitted link . When I went to my competitor's website, the reciprocal link is not there. Does he/she put the link on their page, than have directory verify the code, and then remove the link? If anyone fully understands how this works, please let me know.

Many SEO's disagree on this subject so I wanted to see what everyone thinks. Producing an article and then distributing to multiple article directories. In the eyes of Google is this considered spam(duplicate content) or it is not? As I understand unique content is good SEO. However, I also understand that visibility of the content on multiple sites is very important. What do youthink?

We have a blog hosted directly on WordPress with a PR of 3. At this point we are moving this blog to our server and incorporating it into our website. I wanted to ask the experts how to go about moving this blog without loosing Page Rank. Is it possible to do a 301 redirect from WP itself? Is there anything that I can do to preserve ranking?
