hopefully that is correct. I would hate to get knocked down just because I took myself out of the wayback machine. I have had the domain registered in my name since 2006 so I should be ok then.

Does google use the wayback machine to determine the age of a site?
I have a site that I had removed from the wayback machine because I didn't want old versions to show. However I noticed that in many seo tools the site now always shows a domain age of zero instead of 6 years ago when I registered it.
My question is what do the actual search engines use to determine age when they factor it into the ranking algorithm? By having it removed from the wayback machine, does that make the search engines think the site is brand new?
Thanks

RE: My site fell off the serps for two keywords I tried to optimize the home page for
Hey Ryan, thanks for the tips. However as I mentioned I know I haven't done any on page optimization for those terms.
I was already in the serps, then updated my title tags a few times while I was doing different keyword searches and then changing my mind. Then I disappeared from the serps.
So I guess I should have been more clear. I am wondering if there is some sort of google penalty for changing your main title tags around too much. I don't think there is, but if I am not going to get back for those terms no matter what I do, I didn't want to spend time trying to optimize for those if it was pointless.
It is just weird that I was at least in the results and as soon as I was going to optimize and changed the title and description, then bam I was totally gone. Thought maybe someone would have a guess, but if not, I can move forward and optimize for those and give it a month and see if I show back up.

see above for the site. How do I look back at the cache? It has been over a month and still hasn't shown back up in the top 1000

Awesome Mark,
Thanks for responding so quickly. I am off to get some no follow links to diversify my link portfolio

Will No Follow Links count toward your root domain links for Domain Authority?
I am wondering if no follow links help, hurt, or do nothing when it comes to increasing page and domain authority?
I know they are not supposed to pass rank and I have read discussions that some people suspect they still might, but I am wondering if I have a mix of follow plus no follow, will the no follow ones increase the count of the root domains linking to me and help boost my authority?
Assuming of course the no follow links are coming from quality sites with high page and domain authority of their own.
Thanks.

My site fell off the serps for two keywords I tried to optimize the home page for
I was doing some keyword research about 45 days ago and stumbled across two keywords that I was ranking in the mid hundreds and decided I wanted to see if I could rank them.
I went in and changed my title to my blog, and the description. Then about a week later I changed my mind and wanted to go for two other keywords so I changed it again.
Then within a day or two, my site completely fell off the serps for those two key words that I changed the title to optimize for.
None of my other rankings were effected for any of the other keywords, in fact most of my keywords have risen because of recent backlinking.
I thought it was just a temporary google bounce because I was playing with my title of my blog or something, but after almost two months I am still nowhere to be found for words that I should easily at least be in the top 1000, especially because I was at about 150 by accident.
Anyone have any ideas on what might have happened?
Thanks.

RE: My blog title is getting added to my post title and I can't figure out how to remove it
Hey guys, thanks for your comments. I figured it out finally. It was a setting in my actual theme that was adding the blog title to my post. I just changed that to not add the blog title and fixed it.
Thanks again for your help and suggestions.

My blog title is getting added to my post title and I can't figure out how to remove it
Hello everyone,
I am sure most of you guys know how to do this. I am finding that when my posts are listed in google, my blog title is added to my post title.
2 questions.
1. Is this hurting my rankings because the blog title is diluting my keywords making it look like I have a huge title? (the on page optimizer is dinging me for this.
2. I use a self hosted wordpress blog with the all in one seo plugin. Does anyone know how to remove the blog title from being appended to the post title?
I thought I could do that in all in one seo by checking the rewrite title box and just having it say %post_title% but that didn't fix it. Also it was doing it before I checked that box as well.
Any other ideas to try? Thanks
