RE: Convince me to stay! How should I best use SEOMoz tools.
Hey Dunamis,
I would reiterate what the other guys have said. OSE is indispensable, the keyword difficulty tool is used a lot by myself and the rest of our team. The scorecards can be great for identifying the potential in pages that you havent even considered.
The toolbar gives you a quick look guide for choosing sites that you may want to get a link from.
I really like the competitive link tool as well, which will help you identify some of the links that are working well for your competitors.
The other link tools also help out when you are starting any campaign - and on top of this if you are pro the campaign manager is a great way of organising loads of information so you don't forget what it is that you need to be fixing or doing this month!

RE: Manual Blog Submission Services - Any Recommendations ?
I am with Peter on this one. The quality of the links will probably be pretty low in the eyes of Mr Google and i think your time could be spent better elsewhere.

RE: Importance of Micro Formats
Yes, it definitely is worth learning more about and implementing MicroFormats, particularly with your directory application.
They certainly will have an impact on how users interact with your directory, for example if you included review information.
The major search engines have created an alliance (schema.org.) in order set standards and to enhance their search results, however there isn't evidence that it will be influencing rankings.
Could it influence rankings in the future? Very likely in my opinion, and if you start now then you'll be on board.
Of course there are lots of different MicroFormats for you to consider that could be appropriate for your directory: geotagging, contact info, authoriship, review info...

RE: Keywords Ranking Dropped from 1st Page to Above 5th Page
Deep links with your brand name shouldn't hurt too much but if you build several keyword rich anchor text links to deep page, too quickly you can be temporarily penalised. if the site is pretty new as well it is always a good idea to kick off with branded links to your home page. Keep it all natural. Don't forget that Rand has been sayinf for quite a while now that brand is super important and there has been definite brand bias recently in the serps. Build steadily!!!!

RE: Is having the company's address in the footer (or header) of each webpage important for SEO?
Absolutely - especially if you have a company that operates in a certain locality. A plumber for example - you may have a few services that you offer to a certain loaction. If you have the address in the footer it can help with your local SEO
